Dear Sollip Team We had a wonderful evening with you, thank you very much! Our 25th wedding anniversary could not have been more beautiful. The food really impressed us and the wine went wonderfully with it. The charming service completed the whole experience and we can only recommend a visit to Sollip. Many thanks also for the lovely card for our anniversary and the wonderful extra dessert. We will remember you fondly for a long time to come....we will be back! Monika & Thomas

It was our first time eating Indian food. We booked here based on the excellent reviews. The evening was an absolutely positive surprise for us as beginners. We said right at the beginning that we were “beginners” and were warmly welcomed and given great advice. The food tasted so good that we have already planned our next visit.

Went there for a special marriage anniversary that we’ve been looking forward to for months. The location and the hotel itself is amazing with stunning views. But the service was below average I would say if we are talking about the prices they are charging. We were disappointed by the service as we had so many little inconveniences but no one from that staff was attentive enough to spot it or to correct it when it appeared. We were walked to a table near the window that was so much darker than the table next to us which was decorated romantically and we thought that’s for us considering that we informed them about our anniversary. We were given the dark table but they acknowledged our anniversary then. Other small things that let us down: E.g we booked an a la carte menu, but were given 3-course set menu. We came with jackets and left them on our chairs, no one offered to put those in the clock room until we asked for. We were served bread and butter after a table that arrived 10min after us. We were given a second time bread and butter but a lady dressed in black cleared off the plates and then brought them back realising that we want more bread and only then the lady offered to put the napkins on our laps. When the starters arrived the light on our table was soo bad compared with the next table and we pulled up our phones and 🔦 to take a picture of the food - again, no one spotted our little inconvenience. After that we asked to change the table as we’d like to see what we’re eating. After we finished our mains which took more than 1.5h to arrive since we stepped in the restaurant. After finishing the mains which were very delicious our table was cleared, but I had to ask Efean to come and clean it again as there were still some leftovers on the table. When setting the table, the lady provided us with spoons and one of them remained on the table until the desert came - no one updated the table cutlery correctly and finally gave it back to Efean when the desert arrived. For a £200 dinner we didn’t feel valued much and we are not super fancy eaters or to complain about as we’ve tried thousands of restaurants all over the world. Upon our departure Eafon listened to our comments and apologies on the name of team and we left a tip only for him as the others shouldn’t be in a 5*/1 Michelin Star Restaurant. Recommendation: please hire more staff and think about the furniture that you buy as they make or break a customer’s experience- I was with my knees in my neck the entire meal as their tables and seats are tooo small/low.

Setting is ok, service was fine, food was extremely expensive and very disappointing. Food arrived almost before we finished ordering which was an immediate worry. They didn't have the dish I wanted, so went for chicken and cashewnuts. Nuts were ok, but nothing on the plate tasted of anything, chicken was tender but the batter was soggy and salty. Partner's food looked nice, so thought I chose badly, but afterwards they admitted it was the worst food in at least the last ten years, and the pork belly ( which is pretty hard to overdo) was tougher than my leather boots. Crackers we're nice, but came from a packet, and had no siracha flavour, just crunch. 40 quid each for what was basically really bad Thai street food, and a bottle of wine between 3 is very disappointing. We actually felt embarrassed for all the people pouring in as we left. Thailand is supposed to be known for taste explosion, I would not bring anyone that's been to Thailand within a 1000ft barge pole Of this place. Just stick with Expensive Borough market!

I found Shahi Tandoori in Grange Road completely by accident during lockdown and have been ordering takeaway ever since (and as often as once a week!) because the quality of the dishes are top notch - especially the Persian menu, the saag aloo and the papadums (that can often be so disappointingly stale and taste of cheap oil but are done here to a crispy crunchy perfection). When you phone them they are always happy to give you advice, talk you through the menu and help you experiment beyond your tried and tested favourites and the delivery guys are so friendly you feel you have become one of the family. I couldn't be more pleased to have found them and wish them all the very best in surviving this pandemic! Sofie
