The Y Maerun is one of those local pubs that just gets everything right. A warm welcome with every visit from all the staff. It’s now become our regular local, as the staff are attentive, friendly and up for a friendly bit of banter. The food is consistent excellent and very good value for money. I love the chicken fajitas as they come on a sizzling cast iron tray with a heap full of bell peppers, onion, and melt in the mouth chicken breast chunks with Cajun seasoning to die for! Tonight the cook Callum made a special vindaloo curry that was hot but not crazy hot and warmed up all the senses. One of the best I’ve ever tasted. I cannot recommend this country pub enough. They have regular live bands, special meals and evenings where the place is buzzing with locals and visitors having a great time. The Sunday roasts are cooked with love and taste like ya mum made it! I’m a fan as you can tell, because having a friendly local with consistently excellent food and service is something to shout about, well done to the whole team!

This is a regular stop off for me en route from work and I’ve never had a bad thing to say about the place. Great coffee, lovely food, reasonable prices and fantastic staff who really do go out of their way to ensure you’ve had a good experience. Parking can be a bit of an issue sometimes, but the site is shared with other tenants, so it’s outside of their hands.

What a lovely country style pub/restaurant. Myself and my family visited the Masons Arms on the 23rd of December and ordered from the traditional menu and I can safely say none of our party was disappointed. The staff were brilliant but the food was lovely! I highly recommend visiting the masons and 100% we'll be back Thank you for making sure we had a great time.

I was going to be treated to a birthday lunch. I ordered the fish and chips, my dining companion ordered the hunters chicken. When it came my fish had more batter than fish, and the fish itself was dry. The chips were hard. The hunters chicken was also dry, it needed a sauce but none was visible. The whole experience tells me to avoid the place in future.

I visited this establishment twice in three days, selecting a specific "collection time" as offered on their website. On both occasions, the food was late—by 23 minutes the first time and 32 minutes the second. When you only have an hour lunch break, this is far from ideal, especially when considering the travel time to and from the restaurant. Both times, I placed orders worth nearly £200 for my work team, and being told "it was a big order" after already waiting 15 minutes past the collection time felt like an insufficient excuse. Shouldn't larger orders be prioritised and started earlier? Today's experience was particularly disappointing: two orders of corn on the cob and one vegetarian meal were missing, and the chicken was overcooked and dry—likely from sitting under heat lamps for over 30 minutes. To make matters worse, the website let me order items the restaurant didn’t have in stock. While the server was friendly and helpful on both visits, the managers were notably absent in addressing the delays or issues. They neither apologised or offered a discount for future visits. Tuesday's food was well-received by everyone on-site, but today's service and quality were a let down in multiple ways. It's unfortunate, as this could have become a regular option for us, but due to poor kitchen management, we’ll likely need to look elsewhere.
