The Masons Arms in Newport

What a lovely country style pub/restaurant. Myself and my family visited the Masons Arms on the 23rd of December and ordered from the traditional menu and I can safely say none of our party was disappointed. The staff were brilliant but the food was lovely! I highly recommend visiting the masons and 100% we'll be back Thank you for making sure we had a great time.

Great meal from the festive menu today. Excellent service. Will definitely be back again.

Enjoyed late lunch today, staff wonderful, food amazing 🤩 it was our boy’s 37th birthday he is so special, staff played Happy Birthday to him he was overwhelmed and the whole pub joined in singing! He then had a dessert with a candle. Thanks girls you made our special boy very happy. Not our first visit certainly won’t be our last. Oh prices awesome as well thanks so much xxx

We had Sunday lunch here before attending a great Christmas Wreath making class at the pub .The food was lovely .They had great vegetarian Sunday lunch also.I would recommend the puddings also.The food was great value.Lovely village pub .

El pub era exactamente lo que necesitábamos después de un largo día en la carretera. Una cálida bienvenida, ambiente mojado pero no abrumador, y comida verdaderamente deliciosa. Excelente relación calidad-precio, fresco, caliente y servido con un lado de sonrisas del personal. Buen trabajo, chicos, realmente lo clavaron.

Attended as part of a family gathering of 9 on what felt like a quite busy Saturday. After some initial confusion over how we would be placing order, (after asking server directed us to order at bar) we had food out and hot in great time. Very tasty and in good portions. Some minor grumbles over sauces not being quite what expected but was greatly enjoyed. Definitely a contender to revisit next time we are visiting down cardiff.

Pequeño pub encantador, el personal es amable pero la mejor parte es el asado del domingo 😍 ! ! Por mucho el mejor domingo asado, felicita al chef, la salsa es hermosa, nada de esta salsa de bisto de agua desagradable que se obtiene en todas partes, salsa casera apropiada. No voy a ir a ningún otro lugar para un domingo asado de nuevo, encantador y limpio, pub muy amable 5 🌟

Lovely meal with my family and baby granddaughter for my husbands birthday. Great selection of food and very prompt service even though there was a very large party there at the same time. Would recommend.

Food was tasteless turkey was dry gammon was dried out beef was very fatty Yorkshires was cut into quarters only apple sauce no cranberry no mint sauce very poor

Me and my family have been regulars at this pub for many years. Just recently started working here. All the staff are friendly and the food is amazing. Pub is always clean and there is a massive outside area with a park and lots of seating. Highly recommend

Llegó al mediodía y pidió comida, que finalmente llegó a la 1 pm! Pedí tostadas ya que mi hijo de 6 años todavía tenía hambre después de sus cuatro dedos de pescado, que se sentía como si estuviera pidiendo por el mundo! ¡Por lo que, el pan duro vio la tostadora! Sorprendido de ver una £ 1 adicional. 95 se cobraba encima de las £ 7. 95 menú infantil para el extra. Tuve que esperar cinco minutos después de que llegara nuestra red para que sacaran la salsa. Los hombres de nuestro grupo declararon que los baños no eran geniales y los baños femeninos apenas tenían jabón a la 1 pm. Mi hijo usó el parque después y casi se corta en varias uñas expuestas en diferentes partes - por favor, tenga cuidado, ya que muchas uñas expuestas que no siempre eran visibles al principio. Muy peligroso. Qué lástima que las revisiones anteriores parecían prometedoras

Arrived at midday and ordered food, which finally arrived at 1pm! Asked for toast as my 6yr old son was still hungry after his four fish fingers, which felt like I was asking for the world! Whereby, the bread hardy saw the toaster! Surprised to see an additional £1.95 was charged on top of the £7.95 child's menu for the extra. Had to wait five minutes after our mains arrived for the gravy to be brought out. The males in our party stated the toilets weren't great and the female toilets barely had any soap in them at 1pm. My son used the park afterwards and almost cut himself on several exposed nails in different parts - please be careful, as so many exposed nails which weren't always visible at first. Very dangerous. Such a shame as the reviews prior looked promising.

Tuvimos un gran almuerzo de domingo allí buena relación calidad-precio, y muy sabroso. El personal es amable brillante y buen servicio fuimos una fiesta de 4 , tuvimos paté y sopa para empezar seguido de cenas de ternera y Cordero. Definitivamente volveré.

The texture of fish and chips that I haven't had ever before. It was fatastic and affordable. Also, they equipped nappy changing station.

Bonito pub, la comida tiene un precio bien, tamaño de porción en el tamaño más pequeño. Tenía el plato de curry y los scampi, ambos bien. Iría allí de nuevo, pero fue una espera bastante larga para la comida, así que no sirve si tienes prisa. Además, estábamos sentados en un rincón oscuro, con el radiador encendido cuando el sol estaba ardiendo afuera! No podía sentarse en cualquier mesa vacía, ya que aparentemente los 'lugareños' tienen sus mesas reservadas (no marcadas reservadas) , a pesar de que el lugar estaba vacío con la mayoría se sentó fuera. Parece que atienden a la urbanización que la rodea, y no se molestan demasiado con otros walk ins, pero si ese es su mercado y consiguen buenos negocios, eso es comprensible. Nada realmente malo con nada, pero nada sobresaliente.

My wedding reception was held at the Masons recently and the organising by Maxine and Jamie Lee was exceptional. They took care of the decorations, food, drinks and atmosphere. We had a three course meal which was amazing, large helpings, served hot and service by their charming staff was impeccable. Highly recommended for large parties or intimate meals for two

We had a lovely lamb curry from the specials board, and I had my favourite meal from their menu, the 8oz rump steak salad with a side order of sweet potato fries, rare steak and some Tabasco/mayo on the S-P fries, works every time! Beautiful food, great beer, lovely staff, thanks everyone @ the MA for helping to make it a really special day for me. 8 of us have just had a wonderful Mothers Day Lunch at the Masons. First impression is how clean and well cared for the premises are. Ours meals were delicious, every plate cleared, with the food fresh and hot. Although extremely busy the service was excellent, the Staff were friendly and very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. If I could give 10 stars I would and we will definitely be back very soon.

Excellent Sunday lunch, the best I've had in a long time. The beef was absolutely lovely, everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and service was fantastic. My first time there and we were made to feel welcome. Honestly loved the place.

Sat down ahead of our booking time, food was delivered promptly, no ridiculously long wait inbetween courses and was delicious. Plenty of food and really tasty, empty plates all round. After a house move this is our new 'local' and couldn't ask for better. Lovely friendly and helpful staff and gorgeous food. Sunday lunch is to die for and better than many restaurants that charge a lot more. The festive lunch was lovely. It's also dog friendly, lots of parking and outside space for the summer. A great place to go whether you want a meal, or just a swift half...

I recently went to the pub with a group of friends. Probably one of the best meals and service I’ve had in a long time. I had steak which was incredible. It was cooked exactly how I asked, and the peppercorn sauce was so good. When I ordered given the option of sauces, sides, choice of potato … which is great as you often forget to add the extras when ordering. The staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. Our plates were cleared as soon as we finished and they regularly checked in to make sure our food was okay. The choice of drinks (both alcoholic and alcohol free) was also really good; probably the biggest choice I’ve seen in a long time!! Would 100% recommend this pub and the food here.

Visit here frequently and can never fault the food or service. Pub is immaculate and the staff are so friendly. Great environment for families. Fabulous tasty homemade food and very reasonably price! Will be back!

4 of us had lunch here. Hearty pub grub at a low price but not the highest quality in my view. I had faggots, peas, mash & gravy. Faggots had a slightly odd taste & the mash and gravy were a bit insipid. Very good service though and a lovely atmosphere, quite busy for the time of day. My beer was good!

A really nice meal at a reasonable price with friendly staff and good service.

Wow best Sunday lunch ever!!! And I've tried lots but this place knocks others out of the park. Will definitely be back.

Called in for a quick meal. Ordered the steak and ale pie, with mash and vegetables. I found the mash to be lumpy, the pie was dry, but my main issue was that there was a piece of rolled up foil I was chewing on. I notified the waitress when she collected the plates, who said she would inform the chef. That was the last I heard from her.

The beef was tough. The portions were small i.e. one plate of veg between 5 adults. When we asked for another plate we were advised that we would be charged. As my daughter paid, I'm unsure whether we were charged. We have had good meals in the past and as we are "locals" we like to support the pub. Not sure if there's been a change of chef but we won't be in a hurry to return.

I have eaten at The Masons Arms a couple of times previously and been impressed, but this time, I was not overly enamoured. It was during a rugby game, so it was a noisy and friendly atmosphere. The staff were lovely and there seemed to be hundreds of staff. The food, however, was only so-so. It was nothing special and didn't have the same finess it used to have. I had a burger and paid extra for the cheese option. The burger patty was very tasty however the bun was just basic, the sauce too was basic and the cheese was a supermarket square of processed cheese dumped as almost an after thought in top of the patty, tasteless and not even meted onto the meat. A first for us, deserts were basic and somewhat taistless and we actually left some on the plate. This was disappointing to me. We all came away a little down trodden. Unfortunately, it may mean this will be our last visit there as there are plenty of other venues nearby that still seem to tickle or taste-buds more.

Stopped for a pint and sat outside, nice villagey feel to the place. Staff polite and friendly. Lots of folk having meals incl older folk which is usually a good sign.

Amazing food everyday not just basic pub grub, home made filling tasty food and the best Sunday dinner in and around Cardiff!! The staff are lovely and will do everything they can do to look after you. The grounds are amazing for a day in the sunshine and to keep the kids entertained for hours! 10/10 recommend to anyone.

Ate here today, our order was forgotten, enquired where our food was, told we had been missed. Two beef dinners, my meat was very tough, all dinner salty. Gave us a free desert, waitress said at least you got free desert? Asked if there was cinnamon in the apple pie she replied I dont know they threw the box away. Took two attempts to order two deserts . Not cheap at 13.45 each. Staff were all very pleasant but food not good enough.

Bookes a table for two. Gave our order at the bar. Waited 40 mins no food, other tables being served. I asked the waitress about our food, said she would check. Girl who initially served us, said they had forgotten us. Food served, beef tough all food very salty. Waitress remarked at least you got a free desert, really?. Asked if apple pie had cinnamon in, waitress replied dont know as they have thrown the box away. Took two attempts to order two deserts. Wouldnt reccomend.
