The best restaurants in Langstone Newport South Wales

We had a fabulous lunch today in the bar, with a lovely welcome from the receptionist on the way in, the barman Luke in taking our order, the waitress Erin delivered our meal with a polite and cheerful smile, and we met the very charming Gareth as well! We will be back again soon because the food was also fantastic!!!!!

We booked in advance for a late Sunday lunch, we arrived at 2pm but had to spend 10 minutes in the car park waiting for someone to leave as there are not enough spaces for the number of guests they can accommodate apparently. Got in and sat down at 2:15. It was very busy, but from what we could see most people were either already eating or had eaten and were waiting for their tables to be cleared. The waitress came quickly to get a drinks order however the food order wasn't taken for another 15 minutes and the food itself didn't arrive for another hour. When it did arrive the food was very good, however I was disappointed to only have two very small slices of beef. I heard someone on the table next to me complain about the portion size too. It didn't get them anywhere so I didn't bother to mention it. We decided to have desserts which again were very nice, and thankfully didn't take quite as long as the mains did! So all in all, although the food was nice, service was very slow. We booked later thinking we would be served and back home quicker, however by the time we left we'd been there over 3 hours, so this isn't the place for a quick bite to eat!

Six of us, three couples visited on a Friday evening The service was good by UK standards. My issue and why I would not return is that the place is billed as a smokehouse yet my full rack of pork ribs did not show any signs of being near a smoker ie no pink ring, no bark. They were mushy and tasteless. Thank goodness for the bbq sauce to dip them in.

Come on a Friday £14.49 for two quadzilla burgers. Cant go wrong and you don’t leave hungry.

Took my family for a meal. Food was spot on, service was excellent. Atmosphere was perfect for us. It was the first time some of my family had been here and they were very impressed

Me & my partner love coming here regularly for breakfast/lunch or cake & coffee. We love the atmosphere here & the staff are incredibly friendly every single time. Cannot fault the place, five stars all round

The worst coffee I have ever had. And the parking is absolutely mental, can’t even pull out of the car park as there is two islands either side. I bet 90% of drivers have smashed their wheels in trying get out there. The worst Costa I have ever been to. IF YOU HAVE A SPORTS CAR LOW DONT USE THIS CAR PARK ITS AS IF ITS MADE TO DESTROY YOUR CAR AND ALLOYS!!

I had a significant birthday celebration at The Old Barn Inn recently and it was fabulous the staff were amazing and very attentive. The food was fabulous, can't praise the place enough. Would definitely recommend no matter what the event. 💯

It was extremely busy when we came but you wouldn’t no with the level of customer service we received from Jenny I’m a fussy eater and asked for something she accommodated all of my needs with pure attentiveness a special thank you to her.

I have just spent £24 on a family breakfast on the way to visit my mother who is seriously ill in a hospice in Newport at the moment. The quality and presentation of the food here is abysmal - luke warm, thrown together and not appetising at all. It’s not cheap and you expect much better. The cheese and bacon wraps were disgusting and the eggs in the sausage and egg muffins looked as if they had been scraped off the floor - greasy and chucked together too. Do yourself a favour and use Magor services as it’s much better in my view. If the Manager and staff do read this review, please do address this as it isn’t good enough and you pay far too much for this rubbish. Truly horrible and will not be going back soon.
