Tamarind Llandevaud in Newport

Please do not order punjabi butter chicken as when i ordered it had grated coconut in suger mixed with chicken tikka pieces and being Indian when confronted i was told that is how the dish is supposed to be. It would be appreciated if you name the dish as an Indian dish to please prepare it the Indian way. There are a million butter chicken recipes online and not a single recipe make the use of grated coconut. You are in the business where customer service plays an important role please learn to respect peoples opinions and accept your faults.

Definitely the best place for a curry/Indian food around the Newport area, we've been here for Christmas Day for the past two years and visit regularly in between, the food is consistently good as is the service, the staff are all friendly and are great with the kids. We did have an initial issue with our bill, but Ahmed was very understanding and quickly altered the bill to what it should have been. We will definitely be back and would recommend. Thanks Ahmed and the team.

4 adults, 3 children inclusive of 2 babies High chairs already Insitu. King Prawn Puree, Lamb Saag, Lamb Pasanda, all very tender. Excellent customer service. Will visit again.

Fantastic Indian Restaurant, would highly recommend. Prices are reasonable, has a great atmosphere, Ahmed and his staff are very friendly, helpful and they can't do enough for you. Never had a problem and will continue to visit.

I would give it 0 if I could. Had a takeaway from here last night, and I have had the worst case of food poisoning I have ever experienced. I’m the only one who ate the chicken so must have been that. Haven’t slept all night, have been seriously ill. Will NEVER order from here again.

Let me explain the 3 star rating, food service and atmosphere were all OK but the edge was taken off when they charged £13.80 for 2 pints of lime and soda water (DRIVERS BEWARE) I opted to drive my friends on this occasion hence no alcohol. I was more than surprised to find that lime and soda was more expensive than the beer. Compare this with the pub we met in before travelling, lime and soda was 50p

Just fantastic! Cannot find any fault at all... My experience here was 'wow', haven't experienced such fabulous food, for such a long time. Quick service, really brilliant, friendly staff who were so attentive.. Good portions. As part of the opening event we were entertained by the 'in house' magician...so good to see this lovely restaurant doing so well, l previously visited the 3 Elephants when it was The Tamarind.. Equally great restaurant then but was very quiet.. Well done to you all, you'll be seeing a lot more of me. Good luck for the future.

We are so lucky to have this restaurant local to us. We consistently have first class service from Ahmed and the rest of the staff. Food never disappoints us 😋 always cooked to perfection and very tasty. Loved it as The Tamarind and love The Three Elephants 🐘 🥰 ❤️

Just had our first takeaway from Three Elephants, Llandevaud. We had the Shazam Murgh and the chicken kurma. Absolutely delicious! The chicken was so tender. Highly recommended! Oh yes, and the delivery driver was one of the smartest dressed ever!

Under new Management about two weeks ago. Now the Three Elephants. Food, service and staff all good. Friendly staff. Despite mistakes on a few drinks, quickly resolved the experience was great. Food options plentiful and portions large. Will definitely go again. Well done staff for a great experience. Cost for a 2 course with drinks and condiments circa £79.

Food was fantastic, the beef & lamb were great, both very tender. Only reason I gave 3 stars to delivery service as it took 1hr 20 mins and we ordered at opening. A couple of dishes were cold. We will definitely use this place for Indian takeaways, just hope they can get better on delivery times and ensuring food is hot.

Food was perfectly cooked and delicious, had a choice of meals that varied in heat and spicyness and menu also catered for individuals who don't eat Indian food themselves but like to eat out with friends and family. Staff were polite, friendly and had a high standard in serving etiquette. Had a very enjoyable evening and will certainly be back to sample other items on the menu.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We tried Three Elephants tonight for dinner and the food was perfect. The onion bhaji's were nice and crispy. We had a karahi Mangsho Aloo and a the chana Aloo chat both were very tasty and the meat was very tender. We found the service first class and will definitely be back.

Outstanding evening meal here a couple of weeks ago, really surpassed all expectations. Food was incredible, service was fast, super friendly and the drinks selection was great. The decor is lovely and just an all around amazing evening! 100% worth the visit and looking forward to going back after the renovations!

This place has shut down!! Be aware this is appalling, their website still let's you put ordered in and takes your money be aware! I waited 1.5hours for my order to arrive (including food for my niece who is only 8years old and very hungry) only to be told when I called up the restaurant is closed down until 3rd September and they are going to be called something different! I'm still owed over £106 from my order that didn't turn up!!

What a wonderful find. We were staying local and decided to dine here, we are so glad we did. The staff were so welcoming, we even had a tour of the rest of the restaurant which has 250 covers all of which was beautifully decorated with ample space between tables. Both myself and husband had poppadoms and pickle tray whilst we viewed the extensive menu. We had starters of shami kebab and tandoori fry, both delicious. For mains I had the Bombay beef which was very well spiced and the beef very tender. My husband had lamb pathia which he said was one of the best he had tasted, all food was delivered hot. Ahmed and his team should be very proud of their restaurant, well done! If you want a delicious meal with plenty of parking and great service I definitely recommend dining here.

Had a couple of nice meals then went down hill. Really cold in the restaurant, had to eat meal with our coats on, then ordered a delivery which turned up 2 hours late and cold, they sent another out and that wasn't much better. To top it all the manager lied about us having a meal to compensate as it was a birthday takeaway and he was very rude on the phone. Wouldn't recommend...

Lovely food and very nice staff

As a vegetarian Indian restaurants usually provide a good choice, but here there were only 3 choices on the main course section, 2 of which had the same description under different names! The waiter didnt seem to know what either of them were. The dish I opted for was bland and quite tasteless, and I left most of it. The naan bread was served ready cut, therefore went cold and 'crispy' very quickly. They also brought out incorrect dishes and didn't appear to know what we ordered. There was no ambience in the restaurant, it was very light and the air conditioning was blowing cold air (in February!) After this first visit I won't be returning. There are many superior Indian restaurants in the area.

6th visit but last night is likely the last, they only opened the first section and was very cold , everything was rushed as they had people waiting in the bar area, s as soon as we sat down asking if we want a pickle tray and drinks, here within a few minutes! We hadn’t finished our popadams and the starters arrived, we had finished our starters and within a few minutes our main arrived, to top it, amongst our mains, we ordered Dhansak to share which is supposed to me medium, I like my hot curry’s and this was there! A shame because the starters we all tasty! This is where we always go for a curry for all the opposite that am complaining about! Usually a dining experience but tonight nothing like that! If they want us to spend £120 there again, they are going to have to rethink their customers dining experience!

Food great. Lots of choice. Atmosphere not so much. Ladies toilets need a clean and there was no soap or towels just blue roll. Restaurant air con was too high, was freezing But food was great!

Place really lovely, mostly friendly staff. But...... Have been terribly ill for 4x days after eating there on Friday night. Had food poisoning which was caused by Mushroom rice as 3 of us had this and all extremely ill. Won't be visiting again . Since then have found out 3 other people two nights after we were there have been ill also.

Lovely meal and service. Had the lamb rogan josh and it was delicious and piping hot. The naan was excellent and the other curries got a high rating from our group too. Would recommend for a curry night out

Had a meal for sons birthday, very pushy waiter who seemed to want us to order more than we wanted. Meal was bland and tasteless with only one king prawn in the curry, place has gone down hill since it first opened. Also had upset stomach after eating here, won’t be dining here ever again.

Visiting Wales on business and I decided to try Tamarind for a cheeky curry. This has to be the best curry I've had in several years. I had poppadoms, the tamarind mild special, peshwari naan and boiled rice. The curry was exceptional. It is chicken, lamb and mushroom. It was mild sweet and taste. Highly recommended. The staff were excellent and attentitive too. If I lived nearby it would be my regular go to.

Oh Wow! So glad I found this place, what a Gem. Every dish I tried was amazing. And I don't say this lightly. I love good curry and have been eating it for over 40 years but this place is definitely the best. For a relatively new restaurant I'm so pleased it's got a massive quality seating capacity because its going to need it. The staff were so friendly and conscientious. I would have willingly paid double the price. Everyone loved it I cannot wait to return!

Nice looking from outside. Nice seating. New year signs still hanging up in late March along with decorations from valentines night a month ago. About 4 tvs showing Bollywood films no gentle music to create an atmosphere. Food average dry chicken but cheap, asked waiter 4 times for different things. Toilets very poor no hand towels asked waiter, he give me wet wipe to dry my hands. No water on tables when asked for water they give everyone including ladies a pint glass. Staff have no or very little training including the manager . Not the best experience won’t be going back.

After a hard days work we arrved slightly late for our booking, but we received a warm welcome and were given a lovely spacious table. Food was great, especially the lamb Shatkora!

Food was ok but nothing that stood out. Overall there was something about our visit that you couldn't quite put your finger on, that just felt odd. Whether it was the atmosphere or something simply like one of our party (we were a mixed group) asked if we could have some water for the table. The water arrived in jug, nothing strange about that, but instead of small water glasses it came with pint glasses??? So to sum up food was ok but nothing to right home about and experience just was lacking - won't be rushing back unfortunately.

Beautiful venue/decor. Staff very friendly and chatty with excellent service. 4 of us all ordered different meals, Chicken tikka Biryani,Chicken Madras, Murgh Taki Tak(special)and vegetable paneer. All excellent, competitively priced along with drinks. Will definitely return, shame more people not in for a Thursday night, probably busier on weekends.

Excellent food (definitely one of the best Indian restaurants around). Service was great and inside it's recently been refurbished so everything is new and really nice.

A large and varied menu, both for food and drinks. Prices were a little higher but the quality was great. The staff were friendly and the service was smooth. The restaurant itself is very large and nicely decorated. Air con was a welcome addition. It's a little off the beaten track but we'll worth a visit.

Visited fir a work meal, 10 of us attended. The food was absolutely spot on. Service was fantastic too. I would thoroughly recommend.

Decided to try a new takeaway as been disappointed by our usual two . Starts were okay, the mixed meat didn't have much flavour. The four curries we had were all very nice, not much meat in the pasanda and thin sauce but still tasty , all better that what we have had in local takeaways recently. Ordering online we were not given any indication of when to collect so had to call to find collection time, it was ready on arrival.

Outstanding resteraunt. One of the best Indian resteraunts I have ever been to. The welcome and hospitality was superb. A big thankyou to our wonderful waiter Ahmed who recommended what dishes to try. He certainly wasn't wrong. Food was excellent and so tasty. A big thankyou from the 3 ladies from Cardigan and Shropshire. We will be back. Highly recommended. Do not miss this place.

Had a fantastic meal last night for a charity event on behalf of St John's . One of the best curry's I've ever had. Service was brilliant too and we will definitely return again. Function room was perfect size for the event and all meals were piping hot which is good going considering the size of the group (approx 75 of us) 😃thanks for a great night.

This was our second visit for a meal, and was much improved. This time they not only took our order, but checked by reading it back to us. The food was lovely and plentiful, and very enjoyable when it eventually came. This latter aspect is the only issue that they need to resolve, ie there needs to be quicker service in serving up the meals. The staff were very friendly. If they could improve the speed of serving the meals, then it would be a 5*

10/10 - Highly recommend this restaurant! This is one of the best Indian meals that myself and partner have ever had! The food was delicious, huge portion sizes (plenty to eat and take home as leftovers!) and the service was a treat! The staff was very attentive and made sure everything about our dinner was perfect-- fresh drink refills when we were running low, making sure our allergy concerns were addressed with the kitchen, and even opening doors for us upon leaving! We spoke with many of the staff throught the dinner who were all lovely and happy to answer any questions we had, including the lovely Madhobi who made sure we had everything we needed/wanted all evening! The restaurant has a very friendly vibe and you feel part of a family the moment you walk through the doors. We'll be visiting again the next time we're in the area!

Absolutely delicious food and fantastic attentive service. They stock both Kingfisher and Cobra. The price was very reasonable too. Top quality restaurant. Would recommend to everyone.

Not fussed was looking forward to trying this but disappointed worst biriyani I've ever had & I've had many in my time. The huge mound of rice put me off you couldn't take it without it falling all over the table it looked like it had been packed into an oval dish then tipped onto an oval plate the same size so nowhere for the rice to go but all over the table as you served it onto your plate! I probably only ate a quarter of it the chicken was dry & not enough curry sauce with it & full of broccoli not my favourite thing with curry. On the up side the staff were very nice.

Food was excellent, staff were very friendly, place looked great. Room was possibly a bit too large so it lost an element of coziness that a smaller space would have. Would be great for large groups though. We will definitely go back.

Food was lovely. However too long between courses ( realize they were busy) . Really cold in the area they sat us and other tables around us were obviously feeling the same.

We had a brilliant night. Food was excellent, staff were lovely. So much food we took heaps home. Will be going back.

We booked a table two weeks ago, arrived and was told that no alcohol could be served due to a licencing problem so we left. On Wednesday I phoned to see if the licensing issue had been resolved and asked if they could now serve alcoholic drinks, yes was the answer, I asked if the could serve beer on tap, yes was the answer. I then proceeded to book a table 40 minutes later and then they said that they couldn't serve alcohol that night. Someone is being frugal with the truth. Two strikes and they are out. Incompetent or underhanded you decide for me I wont bother again I hate being lied to or messed about.

7 of us went for our daughters 50th birthday had to sit on 2 separate tables because of covic they followed all the covic rules👍the meal and service was lovely we all had different meals no complaints definitely go again x
