Drago Lounge in Newport

Took my friend for brunch on Wednesday. Our poached eggs were slightly over cooked, which as I regular, I know is unusual for Drago. When my friend pointed this out to a member of the team, Harry, he couldn’t have been more apologetic and imminently went and got us new perfectly cooked eggs. Harry was so friendly and a credit to the restaurant.

Visited recently with colleagues on a Friday night. As we were large group, the table was booked in advance which is highly recommended as the place was packed. However, this didn't impact on the service with food and drinks being served very quickly. Food was very good with the bacon cheese smash burger being as good as anything I've had in specialist burger restaurants. Being able to order online from your table is also a significant bonus when dining with friends as everyone can just pay for their own items without having to bother with splitting bills at the end. Probably not the best place to go if you're looking for a quiet evening or want to talk as the atmosphere was very lively but we had a great time and this might become our default location for work events from now on.

Me and my friend went for food Saturday evening. We both ordered at the same time and my friends meal was served to her 20 mins before mine come out so she had finished by the time my food arrived. After we finished our food we chatted over some drinks and a waiter come over and asked us if we would be ordering anymore drinks or leaving. We didn’t quite know what he meant, then he continued to point to the door and said “ if you’re not going to order anymore more drinks are you going to be moving on.” Me and my friend were stunned, we were going to be ordering more drinks but were left to feel so uncomfortable by the waiter indicating we were to leave we left. There were no persons waiting for a table and spare seats in the dining area so made no sense why he would approach us and basically say it’s time we leave. Don’t think we will be hurrying back.

We live pretty much bang in the middle of three ‘Lounges’, Chepstow, Monmouth, and Gloucester, and trust me when I say I would rather drive 30 miles to Drago Lounge as it is by far the best of the lot! Every visit is spot-on. The food? Exceptionally good value for money! You can tell it’s cooked with pride and it is always served up in great time, even when they’re exceptionally busy (which is often!). They have that balance just right - consistently brilliant food without any compromise, no matter how busy they are. And the team… Oh so helpful, super friendly, and genuinely lovely people. They always go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. You never see a miserable face, no matter how hectic it gets, they’re always smiling, upbeat, and positive without being intrusive. It’s effortless hospitality, and they make it feel personal every time. As a parent with a pram, it can sometimes feel awkward going out for food, but not here. They are absolutely incredible. They help navigate around tables, are quick to move furniture, and even politely shift people out of the way when I’m trying to leave — all done with a smile and zero fuss. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, they make everything easy. Our latest visit Saturday the 15th (early afternoon), before the rugby, we popped in again and the team on shift were phenomenal. Friendly, efficient, and the food was amazing as always. Not a single thing we could fault. Just top marks all round. Great work, Drago Lounge! Great team, great food, great spirit. You’ve absolutely nailed it.

Popped in for the Thursday Night quiz to be greeted by the fantastic news that Eliana is the new GM. Well done to those that gave her this position and extremely well done to her for getting it. That girl lives and breathes the place and it seems the old place is back as it should be. Packed to the rafters but they'll always get you in somewhere. Everyone smiling,customers to staff even the odd dog lol. It just seems a dark cloud has been lifted and the good times are back. We are regulars here ,called in today ,one of the staff was rude to me and my wife ,very abrupt tall chap with no hair same as myself needs some customer service training We left and went to Pierrrs where we had a much better welcome

I love the place and have recently started working closer to it. I stopped in for a breakfast this week and it was nice. I did however wish that my toast had been actual toast. It was very much still bread. Everything else was lovely though. I am not sure if it was available but it would be great if the choice of scrambled, poached, or fried egg was offered.

the lady that works here with blonde short hair is extremely rude , i was in here today for 2 hours and the whole time i was here she made me feel extremely unwelcomed asides from that the place is lovely but it was unfortunately a very awkward experience

Used to love this place, been a customer since it opened. Booked a very special party of 19. It was horrendous, they had booked another party of 45 at the same time, really,,,,, . They had all of the 45 people stood up by bar moving tables around, 6.30 on a busy Sat night,,, They split our party up, which was no need an ill thought out, we may have had half of us sat in Las Iguanas next door. One of our party arrived 30 mins before and said they changed our table from 1 long one to 2 seperate ones. What topped it off was the attitude of I think the manageress who kept harrassing me saying " how can we make it right" not really much you could do on a busy Sat night now and the Supervisor who wouldnt give me her or his name. He stood infront of the " manageress" and said " dont talk to her you have upset her", really,,,, you have just ruined our night He blatantly stood by the kitchen hatch glaring at us with one of the kitchen staff. They then ignored us, never cleared glasses or plates. Bring back old manager, Sarb, we have had a lot of big parties in there over the years and none have ever been like this. So disapointed in the attitude. Shame on you Dragos

We popped in on the spur of the moment for a late lunch, using a voucher that we’d been gifted. Great menu, food freshly cooked and it was spotlessly clean. Wonderful staff and service. We’ll definitely be back for more Nasi Goreng 😋

Excellent evening celebration a 60th Birthday. The staff were amazing, looking after around 40 people. The booking tables process was easy, food was great, hot as and enjoyable, The Front of house staff, Kelly, Gunner Ellana all made the evening Special.. Thank you.

We chose Drago Lounge to celebrate our Wedding Day with friends and family because we have enjoyed coming here for years. This day was no exception...nothing was too much trouble and all of our 30+ party had a wonderful time. The service was brilliant, the food delicious and was delivered promptly and with a smile. Thank you for making our day so special, Ian, Eliana, Laura, Kelly and all at Drago Lounge, Newport.

Me and my wife go here fairly often, we brought friends and family with us plus our dog. The staff were so amazing bringing water for the dog and when we had food they brought a cooked sausage for her. I asked to pay for it and they said ‘don’t worry about how can I charge for such a cute dog’ so friendly and accommodating despite the fact we were early and had a baby with us as well. Just amazing all the way, the lounge bacon cheeseburger was awesome, perfectly cooked.

I cannot thank and praise Ian, Eliana, Laura and Kelly at the Drago lounge enough. Despite us being a party of 35, nothing was too much trouble. The staff we spoke to the night before our party were really helpful and gave us great advice on how to get the most out of our experience. Then on the day, all the staff at the restaurant were friendly, accommodating and made us feel really special! The food was served really quickly and efficiently and was amazing. We absolutely had a five star experience at Drago Lounge and their customer service was absolutely superb. Thank you so much to the team for helping the wedding party to go so smoothly and joyously!!

Great experience tonight at drago lounge. After an exciting afternoon at the panto, the kids were full of excitement. Ian and the team handled the experience perfectly. We were sat down straight away, the drinks and food order was taken quickly and all arrived in good time. Great food and great atmosphere

We dined last night (11/12/24) and unfortunately, it seemed like we caught them on a bad night. I had to return my steak because it was just warm, as were the chips. My daughter's Halloumi Burger didn't arrive, and after about 5 minutes, the server apologised and explained they had run out of Halloumi. They then cooked her something else instead. When I returned my steak, I was told it had been temp-checked and was fine. They offered to reheat it. However, when it came back, it was overcooked and more like "well done" than what I had originally ordered. The server was very apologetic and mentioned, “I don’t know what’s going on in the kitchen tonight.” We all ate at different times as the food was served 20 minutes apart from the first disch to the last. We’ve eaten at Lounges across the country, and this was by far the worst experience we've had. Overall, it was a very disappointing meal, and unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

Warm, friendly atmosphere. Temperature was lush and cozy. Cocktail menu is awesome, Espresso Martini was on point.

Fantastic service, food, and drinks. The manager Ian was fantastic from the moment we entered to the moment we left. A real credit to the business. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and will be back soon.

The Lounges are always a good shout for food. You know exactly what you're getting and their all day breakfasts are amazing.

I recently visited Drago Lounge in Newport and was extremely disappointed by the service I received. A bald gentleman, who seemed to be a staff member, was incredibly rude and disrespectful throughout my visit. His attitude was unprofessional, and he made the experience uncomfortable. It’s a shame because the atmosphere of the lounge could have been enjoyable, but the poor service overshadowed everything. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience, and I hope management takes this feedback seriously to improve customer interactions in the future.

Fabulous food, amazing atmosphere, whilst another customers dog on the way out attacked our geriatric dog - the staff were absolutely amazing. Especially Ian and Eliana - over and above. Will definitely be back.

Just thought I'd do my monthly review as I do with so many places I love to frequent. Love this place, and I've never really had a moan but what is going with the lighting? I understand that in the later hours there's a certain ambiance that people love. But it's way too much. I almost tripped over a black dog. People are using the lights on their phones to read menus and it actually looks closed from the outside Moans over. Baby Ash and Damo smashing the bar. Eliana and Gunnar running the floor. Finally the Cruzcampo is as good as any around. Keep up the good work guys just give out minors helmets for lighting and safety. Lol.

This brunch spot was fantastic. The soup of the day was delicious and full of flavor, truly making my day. The food was well-prepared and satisfying, with a great atmosphere that was warm and inviting. The staff were friendly and attentive, providing a wonderful customer experience.

Celebrated my mum's birthday today at Drago lounge,as always our food was outstanding and the atmosphere so relaxing! The staff are always incredibly helpful and welcoming,Gunars is an absolute asset to the restaurant and deserves a special mention! Thankyou for a lovely afternoon in the best place to eat in Newport!!

All the food is delicious. This place has a similar atmosphere to a place I visited before in Evasham. Although the store name is different, the interior is similar. I had a pleasant meal under the guidance of a friendly waiter.

Great place, great good, great service, and a great menu that suited all our dietary needs (vegetarian & gluten free) would recommend.

Dragos - one of the Lounger chain of eateries, catering for all, adults, children, V, large menu with Tapas items too. Staff are very friendly & helpful. The only eatery in Friars Walk that DOES NOT accept bookings. Great meeting place

Came for lunch with my mother today for my birthday. Everything was absolutely beautiful. Nice portion sizes, friendly staff and the food was delicious. My mother has has a lot of issues with her stomach lately after an operation 2 months ago but to her delight she was able to eat more than she has eaten for weeks now and didn't experience any pain or discomfort afterwards which is brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even had a beautiful dessert for my birthday from the staff. Can't recommend enough and will 100% be back soon.

Been to this place a few time for breakfast lately, and it has always been rather good. I do not like the format presentation of what ihave, but still all fi.e and my family have enjoyed it every time. So it is a repeat venue for us. Staff seem pleasant also.

Very nice food. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly and really nice cut. Really good selection of alcohol free drinks too.

Always enjoying coming here, usually in the day. On this occasion my husband and I were having a quick pre-show dinner before a night at the Riverfront and we were grateful for the quick and friendly service! The staff were all very nice and efficient and our food exceptional. I really appreciate the little flags they put in the food; being gluten-intolerant, it reassures me they understand the importance. Also, coming in the evening there was a great atmosphere with low lighting and candles on tables which gives the place a great vibe. Thank you, Drago Lounge, we will be back!

Was desperate to eat and had never heard of this place and it sits amongst some places to eat that I’d never consider (usual chains around a cinema). Had a quick glance at the menu and saw a few items that were okay. Lovely welcome at the bar, sit anywhere, get the table number and order at the bar. Very friendly and all very nice. I ordered a chicken and prawn Thai fried rice dish, it was delicious and reasonably priced too. Washed down with a Cruzcampo. If I’m back in Newport, then I’d definitely go back and can recommend you check it out.

Brought my wife here for a birthday breakfast as I know they did more modern breakfasts as opposed to traditional Full English (also available though). We both have the Miami Brunch (I added Chorizo). It was fantastic. A lovely place, good service also. In a redeveloped part of Newport. It was so good that my wife asked if it was a chain (we usually like going to independent places). Found another lounge in Abergavenny but didn't quite match the same heights. Surprised they didn't do smoothies though although drinks options were vast

Looking for somewhere to grab breakfast before leaving Newport after our visit to attend a concert in Cardiff, we walked back to the car park and passed Drago Lounge. Menu looked ok from outside so in we went. Once inside, the penny dropped. We have a branch near home - Lupo Lounge - where we have visited before and it was rubbish. The last time we walked out after ordering food and waiting an obscene amount of time for it to arrive (they did refund us). Very happy to report that Newport it totally the opposite. We were greeted just inside the door and shown to a table. Ordering is easy; at the bar or via the app. Drinks appeared swiftly and food not too long considering they had a constant stream of customers. My breakfast muffin was really good (wish I’d ordered hash browns though) and the Wife’s pancakes with fruit and yogurt she declared “lovely”. It must have been as she even ate the blueberries. Toilets clean and tidy, staff friendly and attentive. Drinks and food very good. Can’t say any more really. Pity they can’t transfer staff to Wolverhampton !.

Another amazing evening spent here with my family. Celebrated 60th birthday. So many food options which were all delicious. Service is phenomenal gives off such a family friendly environment. We can’t wait to come back again.The staff were amazing.. Eliana,Kelly,Ash Damo and Gunars are incredible, they all work so hard and it doesn’t go un noticed.

Best flatbread out of all the Lounges I've been to. Well looked after. Water brought for dog by the Manager I think and we were shown where the treats were. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Popped in for a swifty after work tonight. What has happened to the Cruzcampo? The best pint I've ever had of it. The head was visible all the way down the glass which is a must for all premium lager drinkers. And the taste was impeccable. Either they've changed the pipes,got a new cellar man,brought in better beer or the magical young Ashleigh behind the bar has worked her wonders and got it right. Honestly best pint I've had in ages and I had 4 just to make sure. The girl needs a knighthood. Lol. Keep up the good work, guys.

A lovely restaurant with a friendly and cosy atmosphere, great for casual meet ups, dates and even business lunches. The menu spoils us for choice, with great Monday and Tuesday deals to choose from. The service was quick, friendly, and accommodating for personal requests. Super easy to order as well through a QR code or at the bar. Would recommend and happily come back any time!

Unfortunately a poor visit this evening. Steak was as tough as leather, meal not as described. Orange juice (freshly squeezed) unfortunately from a carton. Chips dry and not fresh. A dissapointing evening with family from Europe

This is an absolute gem for Newport, quaint and quirky, considering its part of a chain. The parmesam and garlic fries /chicken wings are to DIE for! Super dog friendly but what makes the visit is Damiem, I believe my dog Cactus is absolutely in love with him! Thank you for making each visit for her and us an absolute dream!

Decided to go to Drago Lounge for a meal with my boyfriend for my birthday today. I have been to Ocho and Juno lounge in Cardiff and so whilst we were in Newport I really fancied a breakfast from Drago. First time visiting, greeted by a lovely server with who was bubbly and full of personality. Very helpful and chatty. She even ran into the rain to bring our meals in as we decided to sit outside as the weather seemed fine and sunny - but then took a turn for the worst very quickly!(Typical Welsh weather) This server made our day. Amazing experience.

Great food and service with a great atmosphere.

Drago lounge is a nice place to have a quick tasty lunch as the service is fast and the food comes quickly and doesn’t break the bank. The food quality is hit and miss. The chicken burger looks good on paper but will leave you disappointed. The lounge burger is decent but again it’s a pre-made patty. Every time I’ve had the tapas it feels like it was made yesterday. The breakfast are filling but not that different from food truck outside an industrial estate. Drinks. They do make some excellent drinks, the service, speed, atmosphere, price and the fact there is no shortage of tables has me returning.

Fantastic. We arrived on a very busy Saturday with 2 kids and we were greeted by staff in a welcoming and friendly manner. The staff did an amazing job of seating all who came in and even if they had to wait, the communication was excellent. All the staff were kind and polite with a shoutout to Ellie for her wonderful customer service. She and the other staff made what could have been a stressful time into a nice, relaxing, fun experience with my young kids. Will definitely come again.

Popped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Service was quick and staff were very attentive. Manager Eliana ensured we were well looked after. Food delicious we had the Tapas. Also had a slice of lemon drizzle cake which was very moist and moorish lol. Portions were great, Tapas was hot and very tasty. Drank soda water but also had a sneaky Passion Fruit Martini which was delicious.

I thought for what you got, it was very expensive. Also I found what you charge for a bottle of wine extortionate.

The most welcoming place in Newport for good vibes. Family oriented- full of love and good food! Most staff seem like family to me and my son, we enjoy coming here as extended family :) X

The drago lounge is one of my favourite places in newport. Huge varied menu, only one had a bad meal which was sorted. Today, I had the garlic parm chicken wings and the chicken club sandwich. Both were delicious. The wings were so tasty. The sandwich was huge and filled to the brim. Drago is a constant for me locally
