We enjoyed dinner twice during our stay in Edinburgh. The roasted chicken was delicious and the feta salad was tasty enough that we ordered it again the next time we were there. We enjoyed the slow roasted lamb shank that time at Sofia’s. We also their sticky toffee pudding for dessert which we were told was made with dates… it was scrumptious!! I highly recommend this restaurant.

We are trying to find a decent Cantonese restaurant in Edinburgh. For many year we were loyal customers of the Loon Fung in Edinburgh, until it was acquired and standard of food declined exponentially! So based on reviews we ordered a take out from Cool Jade, which was disappointing! The Lemon Chicken came with a separate sweet and strange tasting lemon sauce, which we all didn’t like. The Satay Chicken looked strange and tasted like it came straight out a bottle. The sauce was quite runny and tasteless. Shiu-Mai was dry and completely unappetising! The service as however friendly and fast. We won’t be visiting this restaurant.

The Craig Bar is a classic scottish bar in Grantown-on-Spey. It is run by Robbie who attentively cares for his customers. Sensitive ladies may find it surprising to be named "darling" but we found it funny and charming. Different pies are on offer, all of them freshly made and very tasty, Beer, wine and whiskeys run into the glasses - what can you ask more for a great evening in Speyside?

*2024 update: Food was average this time, and I was disappointed, especially given the above-average prices. Crispy chili chicken salad was nicely seasoned and good, but the salad was prepped so that pieces of veg were considerably longer than mouth (a no-no in fine dining) and served on a slate - I don't know anyone that enjoys the sound or sensation of cutlery on slate... Spoiled the experience. The beef burger with cheese and bacon was small, served in a flimsy brioche bun (what's the obsession with serving burgers on brioche??) and the portion was small, especially stingy on chips (which were good). The burger was on a par with a decent pub meal, no better (slightly dry and overcooked, small-ish). The Biscoff and chocolate cheesecake had no chocolate on or in it, unless a tiny undetectable amount in the base. No chocolate flavour at all. Definitely gone downhill since I last visited a few years ago. Also 5 different people served us, even tho the restaurant wasn't busy - the benches in the window seat have the back at 90° to the seat which is very uncomfortable, and the table was cramped for 4 diners. The overall experience could be improved easily. Food, service and dining environment all have plenty room for improvement. 2018 = 5* (has gone downhill massively) oA restaurant with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent food. The standard menu and the specials all sounded excellent and everyone I was with thoroughly enjoyed their food. A good range of options using local produce creatively. The service was excellent: prompt and friendly. Even the coffee was exceptionally good. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone.

Made a special autumn trip to Cafe Kisa for coffee and cake. It’s been a while and the old Cafe Kisa we once knew is now a fabulous new Cafe Kisa restaurant and coffee venue, same street, just across the road. Beautiful venue, excellent staff, warming tasty coffee, yummiest scones ever. Wish we were staying for lunch, though it is always best to book. Having mobility issues I always dread, often fear, having to visit the special access facilities. Hallelujah, stunning, great care and consideration has been given to visitors to this facility, thank you. My husband managed to climb the stairs to the toilets and his comment was - amazing. Worth the climb. Cafe Kisa is such a great asset to this lovely village, lucky locals. We hope to visit again soon as the food we saw being served was truly mouthwatering.

We are locals and love coming here to this great, cosy, friendly restaurant. Our evening begins in their downstairs wine bar before heading up the restaurant, and back down for a nightcap. The menu seems to change daily. Last night my partner praised the beef Bourgogne. The pheasant & partridge main was great. I’d recommend the Puilly Fume wine and the French dessert wine to accompany the cheese. This is an amazing, family run establishment and so friendly.

Excellent food and service. A very small dining space so not a lot of space, definitely need to book beforehand.

We have been to the Gurkha on numerous occasions and thoroughly enjoy it, service is normally 1st class and food is lovely. However, we went last night and we were so disappointed. The place was so busy, they had the tables crammed together, you felt like you were having dinner with strangers, they tables were that close. We had not even finished our starters when our main meals arrived at the table, when I asked the waitress to take it back she refused. A couple next to us had a larger table and the waitress asked if she could dispose their table to allow another couple to sit between us the man refused however the waiter then came over and divided the tables. The waiting staff were rushing all over the place resulting in two of the banging into each other and food went everywhere all over a customers clothing. Felt like we were eating in a cattle market. Won’t rush back as it spoilt the whole experience.

Absolutely disgusted by the attitude of the front counter lady. We arrived without a booking and had mentally prepared for the possibility of being turned away or having to wait for a long time. There were two groups ahead of us - she greeted them and told them they would get a table in 10 minutes. She completely ignored us (first red flag). After I made eye contact with her, she curtly told us she didn’t have a table available in a frustrating manner (second red flag) and then walked away. With no clear information given, we assumed we could queue for our turn. Five minutes later, she noticed we were still in line behind the two groups and shouted at us, asking why we were still there since she had already told us there was no table. We explained that we didn’t mind waiting, but her response was appalling: 'I don’t have a table for you, do you want to wait for 1.5 hours?' We understand it’s a busy café, but she could have politely informed us about the 1.5-hour wait time instead of shouting. After reading past reviews, I realized we weren’t the only ones who had this kind of experience. We were initially drawn to this brunch café by its positive food reviews, but the treatment we received was horrendous. They have absolutely no interest in customer service, and the first impression was terrible. I’m glad we didn’t spend a penny supporting a business like this.

We meet for a family lunch here about once a month. Parking is easy and it's free. The dining area is spacious and appealing with lots of natural light The serving staff are always welcoming and service is good. We had a good lunch as we normally do. The menu has improved with more choices and a selection of specials. The food was good with excellent, smiling service today from Heather, Karolina and Lesley. We'll be back.

Restaurant was not advertised ad vegetarian! We were looking forward to some Punjabi Masala fish. Menu was very basic, the easiest dishes which are possible to make. The restaurant attracts a vegetarian/vegan crowd. The fact that there were no Asians dining here should've been a red flag in itself. Food was okay, nothing special. Paneer pakora was hard and disappointing. Service was very friendly though, even although they changed the waiter a couple of times which is my pet hate. Suits the gora palate and they seem to be catering to this vegan type crowd. You don't advertise as an exclusively vegetarian restaurant so it doesnt make sense. I mean is it really so hard to add punjabi fish, fish pakora or even a basic chicken curry! Will not return unfortunately, but hope you can take some of our suggestions seriously.
