The best restaurants in Ellon and District Aberdeenshire North East Scotland

I had heard great things about this place. Unfortunately it did not deliver, staff not very attentive, could not pre order online (tried phoning and messaging to pre order) to no avail. Only got asked if we wanted a drink after 15minutes of being sat down (wasn't busy at this time either) food arrived I had the brisket meal (chips,A&H coleslaw & jalapeño crisies were very nice thank you, but the brisket not so much was very dry I put the bbq sauce and coleslaw on to make it palatable. Would not recommend!

Fantastic freshly made food . My Italian special sandwich was probably the best I’ve ever had . Hubby and the pizza which he said was superb too . Very friendly staff and excellent value for money . Will be back for sure .

Excellent lunch, but it usually is! I go to Balmakewan quite often, and have not been let down yet. Sometimes it's just cakes & coffee (killer cakes.....!) Or a filled baguette. You can take a wonder down to the river to work up an appetite or just go for it.

Fantastic Chinese - food was all lovely and very generous portions. Will definitely be returning!

We were here for brewery tour and food after. Brilliant day. Tour was great and tour guide was brilliant, very knowledgeable and helpful. Food and drinks were fab. Would definitely recommend the whole tour and food experience.

Amazing food and rooms at this family owned hotel- my first choice when staying away close to Aberdeen

Friendly medium sized cafe/restaurant which is well laid out. Attentive staff and reasonable choice of food which is of good quality. Prices are reasonable too.

I love this place and the staff. My dog and I always receive a friendly welcome. The food is fresh and prepared on request and tasty. It is in a lovely setting.

This was our second trip to trump Aberdeen and again the most amazing welcome . The food is fantastic here and the service is fantastic. Thank you to Scott manager and all of his staff for being the most welcoming and friendly people . We have had a fantastic time yet again and look forward to visiting again soon .

We visited on Sunday evening for a special occasion having not visited for a very long time. We were pleased to find the Hotel fairly busy with downstairs dining room / lounge full with what was probably a large group. We were slightly early so we went in the bar for a drink, it was friendly and we were served efficiently. The Dining Room itself is upstairs which might put the less able off but I believe the same menu would be available in the downstairs lounge if you asked for it. The ambiance of the Arches Restaurant is pleasant, it’s all a little old fashioned but it’s in character with the building, the Restaurant was about half full. The service was good, friendly, efficient, the food was lovely and reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning soon, recommend.

Went to Broonies for an afternoon tea. Excellent value for money at £14.50 per person. Fantastic service from attentive staff. Well worth a visit.

Very disappointed after our experience with what should have been a treat Sunday takeaway. When placing our order I was asked to pay by cash. The order was ready for collection at the agreed time. Problem arose when paying and trying to get our change. Over the evening the bill amount changed x3. The server when queried by another Nazma employ said we had given him £20 less than we had. Though the food was good will definitly NOT be going back and would encourage others to be VERY careful when paying.

Another great meal, great service. Highly recommend the New Inn
