Today was my first and last visit here. Two of my party were served coffee in silly little glasses which were hot but the coffee inside was only warm. I had a bacon roll which was possibly one of the worst I’ve ever had. A dry roll, no butter, and two small bits of bacon for £4.50. Absolute joke.

Finally made it out for a visit and we thoroughly enjoyed it. A very different coffee shop with many quirky features, and great food. We hope to go again.

Absolutely stunning coffee and food. Service is fantastic and the atmosphere is amazing. I had The Big Panda 🐼 and it was so refreshing not to just have veggie alternatives to traditional breakfast items. I would highly recommend - food was lush!

Stopped here on the way back to Aberdeen from Aden Country Park (also excellent) yesterday and had a very tasty coffee along with an incredible coconut slice! I've been dreaming of them both ever since!

First time visit shortly after it opened on a Saturday am. New to whole gourmet coffee thing, but thought the black and white tasting board (one espresso, one flat white) a really cool idea - and good value. Also ordered the halloumi rosti, which, as a usually fairly committed carnivore I can say was a sensational trip to the plant side of things. Tangy, colourful, unctious and just really really tasty. Service really friendly, enthusiastic and attentive: you can feel the passion behind the mission and the product from barista Matthew. Definitely worth making the detour for this. Will be back!

I came here for a midweek lunch with a friend and her son and niece. It was busy, but our food came quickly. We both loved the Croque apothecary and I’d recommend adding on the Parma ham, which was delicious. The coffee was brilliant, as always.

As a local its always a pleasure to visit here or the one in Pitmedden as its a guarantee for great food and fabulous coffee , we were here to try a new item on the brunch menu of the Halloumi rosti with poached eggs and chorizo coupled with a superb cappucino , safe to say one of the best brunches Ive had in a long time , the cafe was packed when we arrived which is always good to see and the atmosphere is great , families enjoying great food and coffee in a lovely cafe , we will be back for an evening meal soon now that has opened up again , well recommended

Both the food and service at Coffee Apothecary are 10/10. A perfect wee asset to the town centre with a warming and relaxed atmosphere! A must visit!!

First time for us. Pleasantly surprised with with the range of coffee's especially. Food that we had was something different from the usual at lunch time. A bit on expensive side, but we would definitely go back with friends to share the experience.

Had lunch today - was excellent!!! Had the winter salad then a cheese board. Daughter had the chicken taco which looked amazingly delicious. Amazing tasting Raspberry Lemonade Definitely be back and would highly recommend 🥰

Fantastic local cafe, very chill atmosphere and friendly staff along with a great selection of coffees makes for an excellent experience. I'm going to make an effort to come by here more often as it really is lovely.

Great coffee shop! If you love coffee (even better if you're a coffee geek) this place is somewhere you should change your plans to visit. The coffee, food and cakes are all exceptional in terms of both quality and selection, but what really separates here from the rest is the detailed knowledge of the coffee: have you ever taken a coffee taster plate? Have you wondered what different processing does to your coffee? What is the difference between, washed, natural, and pulped natural? These are some of the things that are simply, and eloquently, explained in a booklet left at your table, so - if you want to - you can really get your coffee geek on - and I love it! As an internationally mobile coffee geek, I've never found anything close to this level of coffee focus across Europe, the Americas or Asia: it really feels like the first play on coffee shop leveling up game!

The food here is incredible. The steak burger and the rum truffle were amazing. Definitely coming back.

Wow! what a lovely place! Everything about The Coffee Apothecary is 5 star in my opinion! Went for a long brunch with my friend and the food was so delicious and fresh. The coffee (and tea) was perfect. The decor, furnishings and all the attention to detail is excellent! Nice atmosphere and every plate that passed us for other customers, we oohed and ahhed and thought we'll try that on our next visit! The staff were efficient, helpful and very friendly. We didn't notice whether it was a long wait for our order as we were busy chatting but it didn't seem long! Happy with the prices for the high quality of food and coffee. We stayed so long we considered staying to sample the lunch menu... Next time!! I have no negatives about this place at all!

I like the atmosphere and that it is open beyond 4pm but I find everything too strong. Had hot chocolate recently and it wasn't the best - very bitter.

Genuinely excellent coffee, lots of great options, they do proper pour over too! Great customer service, friendly and prompt waiting staff. Food was brilliant too.

Food is good, but super overpriced. And the breakfast isn't big enough. The coffee I find samey but perhaps my taste is not refined enough.

Wow! Delicious coffee and the MOST amazing hot chocolate ever. Followed by apple crumble & custard and a coconut raspberry tart with toffee sauce & raspberry ripple ice cream. We'll beach for more!!!

Nice enough place but the quality doesn't justify the prices. Avoid the roll and sausage, definately not worth the money. There are better coffee shops in Ellon.

This place is was recommended but coffee was cold and for some strange reason they don’t do sweetener? Food was ok but that was it. We will try again another day in the hope it is better next time

Very cosy feeling place, the staff are always very friendly. The coffee is good and the food I had was absolutely delicious. Would definitely go back again next time I'm in Ellon. (And the toilets have really cool scrabble tiles on the floor)

First and last time I will be in. Cake was stodgy, hot chocolate was powdery. Maybe just not to my taste but won't be back.

Didn't expect to get my hot coffee in a glass with no handles although once asked, they did change it. Had stout cake which was lovely. Staff nice and friendly. Would go back but would clarify how coffee served when ordering

Went with my parents and children. I asked for an Americano, it's one of those places where asking for the norm is talking a foreign language as they don't do Americans. I was offered some other coffee, the name I've never heard of. Coffee was terrible, incredibly bitter. The barrister offer to make another coffee with another bean and again it was undrinkable. Kids enjoyed their hot chocolates and my father's tea was fine.

Lovely coffee and a great selection of cakes. Not sure why my latte came in a glass with no handle, hard not to burn your fingers initially, ha ha. Will definitely be returning as the cinnamon rolls looked amazing and I need to try them.

Great food, soup amazing and salad so fresh with apple it didn't last long. Coffee is truly their expertise, from the choice of supply to the loving preparation. Wish we lived less than 100 miles away.

What a lucky find! The kitchen was due to close in minutes but we were lucky to get our orders in. The coffee was yum. The satay burger was luscious and full of flavour. The steak burger similar but for me the take on Croque Madame was inspired and totally delicious. Service was good despite only one waitress on duty who flew around the tables keeping everything going and was well informed about the products.. A great lunch and we'll be back.

Brilliant food. Good coffee. Friendly and welcoming staff. A little slow on service despite being well after the lunchtime rush. The food made up for it though. Cakes looked awesome, but didn't have room on this occasion so we will have to return.

Went if for lunch today, my wife is vegan and she ordered the chickpea burger to end up biting into a chicken burger. It total spoiled our lunch date as she didn't want anything else after this. This is my 2nd visit and rest assured my final one.

En route from one castle to another, we stopped in Ellon for a bite to eat. Looked at a couple of places and were about to give, when we saw this place. Really nice vibe, good tea and coffee, the food was pretty good. Order the sticky toffee pudding. It is the best that i have ever tasted.

One of the best cheese scones I’ve ever had.

I've been a regular customer since moving to the area & always thought the staff were on the cold side. Visited for the last time, after asking for a table, they told us they were no longer doing food 25minutes before closing. Then they refused to allow a member of our party, who is currently very clearly pregnant to quickly use the toilet because it was for customers only. Really disappointing.

Excellent cakes and good coffee/hot chocolate too! The staff were helpful and the selection of cakes were plentiful. The atmosphere was nice with good social distancing in place. The price was reasonable too, was quite busy would recommend booking if you want to come at a peak time.

We stopped here for a coffee and ended up staying for food. It’s beautifully and simply decorated - very clean and lots of space between tables. The service was great - attentive and Coffee is clearly the passion here and there are options for beans and brews. The coffees were delicious. We also had nachos to share - these were lovely but I think came to around £17 with the BBQ chicken option. It was lovely, but not sure it was worth £17! The baking cupboard looks great and the doughnut we had was nice. Overall, it was a nice place to stop but if felt more expensive than I’d expect for what we had - £28 for nachos, 2 coffees, an AF beer and a doughnut.

First time back to the Apothecary now that we're Level 3. Great system allows some reservations and some walk-ins. We had a few minutes to wait for a table but only a few, but only a few. Great Split Pea soup with home made bread, I had the Mediterranean Flatbread served warm with Feta cheese, olives, sun dried tomato, pesto and some salad leaves - great combination of tastes and textures- very good. Then a really fine coffee! Good friendly service. Well done!

I really enjoyed my meal of nachos and hot chocolate.I got a table straightaway. The car parking was free in the square outside since it was a Sunday.

Sublime Coffee served to perfection. The food was gorgeous. Previous reviewer fails to realise they had run out of Vegan options because they are so good.. I will travel to spend time here!

What a lovely place. Been a few times for breakfast and slowly working our way down the menu. By the way, their doughnuts are to die for if you can get them. Do not leave without one!

Was at the restaurant on Saturday & wasn’t impressed with the service as had Soup, Coffee & a Lemon Slice. Disappointed that the coffee & slice was served before the soup so therefore my coffee was cold. Had to ask for the soup twice. When I discussed this with them all I got was I should have asked them to supply the soup first but I point out that you normally serve coffee after you have eaten but was told that is how we have always done it & we won’t be changing. So they want to put profit before customer but with their attitude I certainly won’t be going back there.
