Lovely meal, had a prawn cocktail, steak fajitas and a strawberry soft meringue roulade. All spot on. The main bar was in good spirits, but for quiet meals the separate dinning room is a nice contrast. Lastly the service, really good, friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.
I visited today for lunch with my sister. Whilst the food was nice, the service was terrible. We got greeted by a waitress who had a mouthful of food and was chewing it as she took us to our table. We then witnessed the same waitress counting out tips whilst chewing a mouthful of food when another customer was trying to pay their bill. I had spilt a little bit of gravy on the placemat, before getting desert, before it came I asked to get it cleaned and I was handed a napkin to do it myself. All in all I wouldn’t have minded if the waitress had manners. The staff here need to learn some manners, not just one either. Most of them.
Just been to the newly refurbished Port Pantry and we were not disappointed. Lovely cosy surroundings, excellent service and tasty food that was plentiful. I even managed a cheeky wee Prosecco with my lunch which was a bonus. I highly recommend The Port Pantry & look forward to visiting in the future.
Came here after previously visiting when it was a Wetherspoons. It used to be. Amazing. Very disappointing now. The food was cold and the atmosphere was poor. Will not be back
Tremendous pub. Really welcoming and both child and dog friendly. The pub it’s self is really tasteful and cozy inside with an open fire on cold days. Outside it has a lovely sun trap deck.
We’ve stopped in for drinks a few times while holidaying nearby but decided to book Sunday lunch this time. We were not disappointed. It’s was absolutely tremendous. Meat cooked to perfection, huge portions and beautiful veg. The deserts were decadent and worth every penny. You need to book ahead though as it is understandably very popular and only serve till 4pm on Sundays.
My husband and I had a delicious 3 course meal and drinks and could not fault anything. The food is so good and we would definitely recommend the duck for main course.
The staff are so welcoming and friendly - a great team. After dinner they asked if we’d like our coffee in the lounge which was lovely and we had a couple of drinks while chatting on a comfy sofa.
Can’t wait to return in the lighter nights so we can also appreciate the view.
We had a really tremendous meal at The Globe. Food and service were of the highest quality. We would highly recommend and will definitely return ourselves soon.
Louise cooked dinner for eight of us at the Five Turrets in Selkirk. It was a family celebration and as we were having drinks and nibbles Louise arrived with minimal disruption. Louise cooked, served us at the table and then cleared away leaving the kitchen space perfectly clean and tidy. The food was amazing! The Beef Wellington cooked to perfection. The experience for us was wonderful. Restaurant quality food in a relaxed 'home' setting.
Thank you Louise and thanks to the Five Turrets for the recommendation.
Food and service excellent but despite booking over the phone through messenger, our table had not been reserved and it wasn't possible to speak to a person directly over the phone at The Salmon Inn.
Popped in for dinner with our dog and we enjoyed a very nice meal. Sirloin steak and chips were very nice and well cooked and presented. Chicken Goujons too were home cooked and very nice but it was the puddings that made this a five star review. Sticky toffee pudding with brandy snap and ice cream and Chocolate and Orange cake and ice cream. Yum Yum. Pleasant surroundings and nice staff. Good stuff!
Not really the best meal. The scallop and pork belly starter was disappointing and cold. Scallops weren’t really cooked well and pork belly was cold. Pumpkin puree and other sauce didn’t really work. I ordered the venison and it was hands down the worst I have ever had. Extremely chewy. The waiter appeared new and when I asked if there was a Pinot nois on the wine menu he simply replied ‘I don’t know’ and walked away. I wouldn’t go back.
It’s in a unique location with no competition, so could have been an average offering, but I found the welcome warm, the service good and the hot chocolate and banoffi pie of a very good standard. The views are splendid, plenty of parking, toilets excellent, altogether a delightful visit.
