A lovely little coffee shop, visited with my dog for a coffee. Good prices and excellent quality with very friendly staff. The whole place is covered in books and trinkets which gives it a lovely atmosphere. I think I even saw a large jigsaw on the go which you could sit and do a bit off while you have your coffee. I didn't sample the cakes, however it was very hard to resist as they all looked amazing. All funds go to charity which is a plus!!

Excellent cafe. The coffee is of a high quality. The home-made scones, cakes and bakes are excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they keep customers' cups / mugs hanging up. The cafe is light, spacious, two large windows onto the street to watch the world go by. Many books, dvds and bric-a-brac (pay by donation). Dog-friendly. An excellent place to chill. First Light Trust is a positive and helpful venture. And I am a bona-fide customer. A lovely place to meet in Hawick.

Stopped y this cafe on 20t december. This is a cosy, welcoming cafe with comfortable seating, individual lamps for lighting and plenty of reading matter and other items to purchase. They make a good cup of coffee and have good bakery items: try the scones. The staff are most welcoming and you don't feel as if you are being hustled to vacate your seat. Would recommend this cafe and th added bonus is you are helping veterans while giving them your custom

As a group of Scone Tasters we were looking forward to visiting this new café in Hawick. We were not disappointed! The helpful staff were on hand to meet our every need and catered for our ever need with lovely coffees and a selection of fruit teas. The scones (in 4 varieties that day) were freshly baked and delicious. Preserves were on hand too, but unfortunately I missed the Plum Jam :-( The café is a part of charity which focuses on providing support for veterans of the Armed Forces and Blue Light Services with several cafes popping up around the UK with cafes in Gosport, Lancaster, Redcar, Scarborough and now Hawick. Well worth a visit for a lovely welcome and tasty bite with your hot drinks from 9.00am to 5.00pm from Monday to Saturday!

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.

Overpriced very bland food. Had to throw lots of salt on everything just so it was edible. The mac n cheese was the worst as it seemed to be just boiled pasta ..very watery and overcooked broccoli and NO CHEESE SAUCE JUST HOT WATER. And £12 i must add which is shocking..ps the calazone was ok but still shocking what you get for £14..overall will never eat out off here again.

Went for Xmas lunch today as party of 8. Food was amazing, great portion sizes and price was so good. Our elderly lady took ill and the staff were fantastic, so caring. Waitress stayed with her in bathroom so we could all eat our meal. Even helping with her coat and tucking her scarf in as it was cold outside. Exactly the way you would treat your own mum. Staff are an asset to the tavern. Will definitely return

I have stayed here on numerous occasions recently due to work commitments. Both Curt & Susie are fabulous hosts & I can not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are modern, comfortable & clean. The honesty bar is amazing & comfortable to chill in, along with the turntables playing vinyl which I loved. I want to keep it all to myself so I can stay when I want , but that would be selfish of me. Congratulations to this lovely family running an amazing hotel where they are nothing but kind , courteous & look after their guests. Best hotel I have ever stayed in & can't wait to visit again in 2025 & catch up.
