The best restaurants in Mid Galloway Dumfries & Galloway Lowlands

What a lovely place this is , stayed a couple of years ago when attending my cousin s wedding but called back in on Wednesday as we d just been to a funeral and the tea was back at the hotel,my dad was waiting for my sister and I in the car with his wee dog, Kenny who works in the bar very kindly took some food and drink out to the car for him , fantastic customer service from him so thanks again Kenny 😄 the food was lovely too

Nice place to eat, visitor centre but well set out. Lunch was nice & pet friendly. Free parking outside. Staff gave Misty bones to eat whilst we had our lunch.

Fabulous wee book shop and ace cafe with a great menu - simple and all home cooked. We all had soup and then a panini or sandwich .... plus tea of coffe

Lovely food, great choice of specials, good prices and really lovely service, also a great selection of cakes, would recommend for lunch or breakfast

Came here for my 25th and we had a great time, staff are lovely and gave us plenty of advice on fun things to do like seeing the deer. We had a great time and they also do a fabulous pizza, the bar is gorgeous too.

Very enjoyable meal. Had chicken strips and veg with side order of chips. Very tastey. Waitress very helpful and friendly. Restaurant very clean and tidy.

What a sweet little cafe - we loved it! Make sure if you are in this neck of the woods that you also have a walk at the isle of Whithorn!

Enjoyed this place, a clean tidy spot with brill staff. Food good, at a reasonable price, loved the cakes good exhibition attached. All in all a really good visit.

What a lovely little find on a Sunday afternoon on Main Street We were visiting the area and looking for somewhere to eat So welcoming and friendly and beautiful home cooked food and very generous portions - could not fault and would highly recommend Do not walk pass you will be disappointed!

Nice place to stop off for coffee and cake. Really friendly and helpful. You can find them on the main street in Newton Stewart. They are closed on Mondays.

Great place with an atmosphere which is what you want in a pub. No food was served when we arrived but the polite staff made us forget we was hungry.

I deliver here, best Chinese in town

We arrived early afternoon, grandkids in tow. My friend talked to the person at the visitor centre and was put off visiting the roundhouse due to our grandkids being with us (6 & 11). This was certainly the impression she got. We decided to explore the church ruins and the graveyard instead, from which you can see the roof of the elusive roundhouse. Very interesting graveyard with some very old graves.

Wandered along this evening and it appears to have shut down unfortunately. Thought I'd add just in case it saves anyone a wasted trip.
