I can honestly say that I have never had something from Harry gows that I haven’t enjoyed. The usual selection of sweet and savoury products. It’s like an oasis in the desert when you see a Harry gows shop.

Let me kick off by saying what not to expect: this is not a fancy hotel with subservient staff catering to your every whim. At this place, you are quite literally a guest, joining the owner and his family in their house. If this aligns with your expectations, then you are in a good place. The owner, Tom, runs the bar, where your pre-dinner drinks are accompanied by friendly locals, happily sharing a story or two on the day's events. The bar is stocked with a nice selection of reasonably priced whisky (Scotch of course) and gins, catering to every taste. Dinner is a convivial affair, where conversation is quickly intermingled between local patrons and guests staying in the hotel, while the menu offers a nice selection of local food, lovingly prepared by the lady of the house. All in all, a most excellent experience, completely in line with our expectations of a more rural hotel/restaurant.

When in Cullen I like to have a bowl of the scotish soup Cullen Skink .This homemade soup is made with potatoes smoked haddock onions in a thick creamy sauce delicious. Linda makes it herself and it's well worth a bowl full. The gluten free section on the menu has plenty to choose from .Friendly family run chippy well done .

We went here because the place we usually go to was closed. No one was there to greet me so I sat down at an empty table. The waitress was quite offhand when she told me it was a reserved table and i would have to move. The tables are very close together so it was hard to navigate across the room when needed. The waitress took everyone's orders at once and put them in together rather than one by one so told us there could be a wait due to this. The menu is very limited. For example they don't serve chips at all. One of the waitresses didn't know the cakes by name and was wearing very thin leggings where you could see her underwear which was super offputting. It felt like they couldn't cope with being busy. Despite being table service no one asked if we wanted anything else so I had to try and make eye contact with someone for a sweet after our lunch. Overall I feel this place is very overhyped. It may be a place with regulars as a lot of the customers were looking at us.

I needed a room in Keith for one night and was lucky to find The Fife Arms hotel. The room was small and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite shower and toilet was clean and tidy. Breakfast was self service in a small dedicated room off the main kitchen but provided everything I needed.

Amazing quality, taste and portions. Well worth a visit the Haggis bon bons were delicious and sea bass was best I have had in years. We had nothing bad the salmon salad and prawn starters were lovely. Glad we just made enough room to appreciate the deserts as well. Can't recommend highly enough we spent 2 lovely evenings here enjoying the food.
