We booked the Bothy to celebrate a 70th birthday on recommendation and our experience was definitely mixed: Seated at the back of the dining area behind the bar lost the ambience of the restaurant and was cold …. The booking was made several weeks previous so not a last minute decision.
Starters came and had clearly been sitting for some time as they were luke warm with some dry on top of the haggis dish.
We arrived at 7pm our main course not served until 9pm? Three of the five mains sent back as they were cold, including the sides of veg. When the food returned it did not look as if a fresh plate of food had been prepared but rather had been re charred on the griddle and served again.
The saving grace were the front of house staff who were very apologetic and on the kitchens behalf. Food that arrived hot was enjoyed but we had to eat our mains at different times from each other.
We did receive a discount on our bill and were offered a drink on the house however, this should have been a special meal for a special occasion and did not make up for we left disappointed.
I'm correcting my post due to Google auto correct turning portions into potatoes. Hopefully the review below now makes more sense. "Fantastic tasty food and generous portions. Friendly and helpful staff."
This was a great find. One of the best Burgers and fries I’ve had in years. Great atmosphere and the service was fantastic. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Wanted a toastie and a coke. £7 for the toastie, £2 for a coke. Obviously was expecting it to taste as great as the price. Waited 25 minutes, kept getting told to wait two more minutes when I questioned why the wait was so long when others were getting served before us when we were first to order. Then when I commented on how long we were waiting, tried my best to be as polite as possible as thought “it wasn’t the waitresses fault but then she drew me an extremely dirty look and ignored me when asked for a time. Finally got toastie and it was small, bad quality and cold! Was not worth the price and ESPECIALLY not worth the wait and trouble. Absolute joke, wouldn’t recommend. As a genuine disabled person, waiting so long was very painful and contributed to my energy and worth ethic later on in the day.
Delicious food, excellent service, clean and cozy atmosphere - perfect for any occasion!
We came for date night on Friday evening and sat in, ordered the chicken wings, duck rolls and pineapple fried rice. 10/10 would come back again next time we’re in Glasgow ♥️
This place is the dogs bollocks.
Owner/manager was a legend who shared great stories and anecdotes.
He was a great ambassador and champion for Glasgow, making my visit that bit better.
Highly recommend the Haggis-loaded fries.
Most definitely the best Greek restaurant in Glasgow! The food was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the semi sweet wine was gorgeous too. They didn't have exactly what we ordered so gave us extras of other things which were more than enough. Service friendly and efficient and the prices were very reasonable. We'll definitely come back.
