Quirky little restaurant with a family atmosphere. If you’re after fine dining, it’s probably not the place but if you’re looking for authentic Spanish food and hospitality then look no more! Guillermo and his daughter are super friendly and helpful, definitely worth checking out

Great food, authentic Spanish. Lots of it too so you don't feel short changed as you might in some tapas joints. Very friendly personable service from the owner too. You can buy wine there or bring your own bottle for a very reasonable 7 quid corkage. Was there with a fiend and we both thought it outstanding. It is everything that chain restaurants should be but are not. I really felt like i was in a little tapas place in Spain. Go, this guy deserves our support. People giving one star reviews clearly have no clue about authentic tapas.

My husband phoned to check on it after an hour and a half and they were apologetic - offered us free churros by way of apology. Phoned a second time when it got to 2hrs 20 and were told tge order left the kitchen a while ago. Food arrived shortly after and was pretty cold, meatballs were processed meat and calamari was soggy. Seafood paella was nice if it was warmer. Pretty disappointing for the price - and we didn't get the promised churros either! Wouldn't recommend.

The food was delivered a little bit early, which was perfect for me. The calamari rings were delicious, although a little bit soggy. The churros were lovely, but the sauce didn't last for all of them. The paella was...well, rice with a little bit of veg and seafood. Not too impressed.

Had the tapas for 2 people for our regular Friday night dinner. More than 2 people could eat and all of it was really good. We will be most certainly back for more on another Friday.

We fancied something different and discovered El Gusto. It was excellent, all the dishes were great and the gambas al pil pil were exceptional! Would highly recommend and can’t wait to visit the restaurant once everything is back up and running.

Had the most amazing lunch at El Gusto today. The Chicken & Chorizo Paella is the best I have ever eaten and the most amazing Tortilla. Excellent service and a quaint little restaurant. If you want authentic Spanish food I would recommend you go to El Gusto.

The main selling point for this I must add is the BYOB... However, the restaurants food was incredible. Half the price and double the standard of the larger chains. A real gem, and if I'm ever back in Glasgow I will return.

Absolutely delicious food, wonderful atmosphere in a cosy pretty place. BYOB with small courage is always a major bonus (and bank balance friendly) can't wait to come back, too many things to try in one sitting!!

Went to El Gusto last night. We ordered the veggie tapas platter to share. Was delicious. Lovely wee place.Very friendly and the service was excellent. Our waiter was so attentive and his customer care was brilliant. Will definitely be back.

We visited on a whim and were delighted by the unpretentious atmosphere, friendly service and authentic dishes: anchovy hors d'oeuvres, a great slaction of meat, fish and vegetarian tapas, the paella with chicken and chorizo was an excellent centrepiece, followed by lovely ice cream. Wiith service, drinks and corkage the cost was just shy of £25 per head.

We just asked for a selection of tapas and then a seafood paella to share. Easy. Heaps of food. Really tasty and a relaxed meal.

I am a long time customer of Guillermo's El Gusto tapas restaurant, only being relocated abroad stopped me from going there now. Together with my wife we have tried every single tapas restaurant in Glasgow, and El Gusto is by far the best. Great atmosphere and mostly great food! Guillermo is a master in revisiting and modernising traditional Spanish dishes. Meat or Fish it makes no difference to him, and you'll find yourself fully satisfied if you chose to join El Gusto!

My wife and I just had lunch here with our daughter. We had the tapas for two plus a couple of extra dishes. The food was great as was the service. All the dishes were freshly prepared and very tasty, quite authentic in style. The alcohol free sangria was really nice. The owner/chef/waiter was very friendly and welcoming as well as very helpful. I would certainly go back!

The food here is very average; nothing fresh, rather oily, needed spice and was cold. The service was ok but slow. For the money we paid for this meal; it simply wasn’t worth it!

Don't want to dwell on this experience for too long, but I am compelled to leave a review as this place was terrible and a waste of money.

I'm a bit confused by all these reviews. They definitely don't reflect the food we received. We popped in for some tapas. We received a cold, store bough baguette (could have put it in the over for 30 seconds), meatballs that tasted like they came straight from a tin, patatas bravas which as just cut up chips with sauce, overdone pork, overdone prawns but in fairness the cheese and chicken was quite nice. Was the chef off and replaced with a two year old? That is my only explanation for the very poor food we received.

We were the only diners all night so there was really no excuse for the slow service. The waitress was lovely but couldn’t give us any information about the menu or the specials. Staff kept disappearing out the door and we waited ages for menus to be returned to order dessert. Food was not good. Patatas gratinadas was ordered as a side dish for the main but it arrived before the starter and was a ridiculous price for what amounted to half a sliced potato in some sauce. Rabbit had a lot of bone in it and prawn dish lacked any flavour. It was so disappointing after reading the reviews. Staff were friendly but food was overpriced for the quality given.

Great authentic tapas in Glasgow. Rustic restaurant, feels like you could be on holiday in Spain. And scrumptious, scrumptious food made in the open kitchen. We always have the chicken and chorizo paella to share then a number of tapas dishes. We’ve never had a bad experience and very reasonable price. Highly recommend.

went for a meal with girlfriends and had 2 set menus. couldn't have been better. good delicious and service was great-she expertly opening prosecco. great value and we had a fabulous time. a small gem that deserves a larger clientele.

We hired El Gusto for a family birthday party and is was simply brilliant. The owner was kind and helpful beforehand, letting us drop off the drinks (it's BYOB with corkage) and cake the night before, and putting balloons on the tables. The food was brilliant - the tapas flavoursome and diverse, ranging from goat to mushrooms to calamari and of course 2 types of patatas. The paella was rustled up in the restaurant, adding great theatre to the party, and it was excellent - fragrant and tasty with quality ingredients.We stayed longer than intended, loving the food and drink and atmosphere. Recommended!

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious lunch here. I had BLT sandwich with chips and she had the chilli beef salad which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We also had garlic bread on the side, which although a little pricey was worth every cent as it was really garlicky and delicious. Wish we would have had more time because we would have definitely gone back.

The kids fancied tapas, especially as they have not been to visit their grandma in Malaga this year, so we took them here for tapas. We had albondigas (meatballs) both normal and spicy, a lamb stew which seemed to have a Moroccan influence, plus some patatas bravas and other small things. The food was excellent, the kids loved it, and the portions generous. Service was attentive. The only downside was no bar - so take a bottle or two and pay the corkage, £5 per bottle, so will work out cheaper in the long run.

We'd been walking past this little place on our various jaunts up and down the lively and popular Gibson Street several times and always earmarked it as a potential place to call in.It was a balmy July evening and we noticed that the one al fresco table and two chairs that this tiny little place offers were vacant, hooray!We'd already eaten earlier on in the evening so unfortunately, this was never going to be an occasion where we would get to try all of the tapas that was on offer, but we thought a little of something delicious is better than nothing at all, right?We plumped for the Pescado en Adovo (fried, marinated haddock with alioli sauce) and a main of chilli con carne. Both were delicious, fresh and packed full of flavour.Our waiter, a wonderful, friendly gentleman with thick hair, a beard and glasses playfully helped us with our Spanish pronunciations and praised us when we did well! He was attentive despite it being busy inside the restaurant and checked on us regularly and took a genuine interest in how we had enjoyed the food. We never felt forgotten about despite being outside on the only table.We were enjoying our evening so much, it didn't take much to twist our arm for dessert. We ordered piping hot and wonderfully fresh, sugary churros with chocolate sauce and a divine crema catalana.Still not ready to end our evening, we finished with a pot of peppermint tea and a really good, strong Americano.During the evening, there was a birthday party going on inside with a group of ukulele players. The waiter explained to us at the end of the evening that they are a group that always celebrate their birthdays in a particular way, by bringing their ukuleles to the restaurant and having a huge singalong. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. They even had their little babies with them enjoying every minute, it felt like a free concert!Overall, we had such a hugely enjoyable evening filled with smiles, music, delicious food and fantastic service. There are so many dishes on the menu that I can't wait to try so we will definitely be back as the prices are fantastic for the quality of food and high standards of service.Well done El Gusto!

I'm a Spanish black girl, I did order the fried calamari, lentil soup and seafood paella, it was nice nothing especiall and the delivery was at the time that they said. But the delivery girl was rude, I was staying in a hotel with free parking and access to the rooms if you deliver to someone for 2min to come and knock the door you are not gonna die... and telling me with a bad manners next time go to reception and pick up your thing... Ok... don't worry I will not order nothing there.

I called in here between appointments and had three tapas and a coffee. The food was freshly cooked and tasted superb. I cannot fault it.

I returned after promising myself I would be back...This time with my partner who happens to be Spanish. We were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. This place can't be faulted. It's a BYOB which is appealing, however there's no where near to buy a decent bottle of wine. Get one before you go. The toilets look like they'll be nice when they're finished.

I visited here for dinner recently and am already planning my next visit. The restaurant is small and cosy, probably seats about 20 folk max. The menu has a wide variety and diners can opt for tapas or starters and mains. I've eaten here a few times and have sampled a number of different dishes, all were delicious. We went for the set menu which includes 6 tapas and a paella to share. Each dish was perfectly seasoned and cooked with love! The lamb had a lovely cinnamon taste, the patatas bravas nice and fiery, the fish beautiful and tender. The food is the best tapas I've sampled out with Spain! There's no drinks licence so it's byob and they charge for corkage meaning the night is a bargain. Can't fault the place, the staff and owner are great too.

The food was good and it was delivery even faster than the estimated time. The only problem was the mess in the package as some of the sauce spilled.

Ordered from here for the first time a few days ago, after reading so many positive reviews. And I was not disappointed at all. Food was excellent and piping hot when it came, within 30 minutes of placing the order. Had the chicken paella, calamares frito, and patatas bravas. The complimentary tubs of caramel pudding were a nice touch. Thank you! Only one complaint - the fried calamari became quite soggy by the time it arrived. Perhaps styrofoam containers would be better. I'm definitely going to order from here again.... looking forward to trying out other dishes from the menu. This might just become my new favourite takeaway place.

Having tried a few tapas places, I kind of expect each of them to be rather on the expensive side. El Gusto is not the case. The eatery is compact and unpretentious, as if it is in someone's house. The menu is compact as well, making it easy to choose.The chorizo soup with an egg on top was spectacular yet simple. The fish garum was filled with umami that was so rich that I couldn't stop eating, and it complemented well with rice.The place can be a bit cold, so choosing a seat away from the front door helps.

El Gusto rarely gets it wrong. It's small enough to feel you are eating out of someone's own kitchen. There isn't anything fancy about it. It's just genuine and honest tapas. BYOB helps too making it great value for money. The set menu for two provides a mixture of flavour and taste that you otherwise might not explore. Will be back for sure.

Fantastic Spanish tapas at El Gusto Cafe. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Tasty vegetarian options also available, looking forward to my next visit.

Restaurant added 10 mins to 40 min delivery time but then arrived very early. Super annoying when restaurants add time to predicted. Clamari were chewy (obv. not fresh/or overcooked) and batter was soggy. Patatas Ali-Oli = very acidic Ali-Oli.
