Never been here before and I thought overall it was pretty good. I've been lucky to have eaten a lot of Tapas style food in Spain over the years and having recently eaten at Rioja also in Glasgow I was tempering my enthusiasm (Rioja is very good)So Friday night, not that busy but food was good. I'm not that keen on Paprika and I found that to be used a fair bit, beef quality could have been better. However wine was fantastic, and price I'm not kidding was half that of Rioja3* Average is maybe a bit harsh, I would go back and for £15 a head for food the value cannot be beaten.

I'm sorry I hate writing these kind of reviews but I've rarely been anywhere which disappointed me as much as la boca. I read the reviews online before visiting but my friend had been last year and usually she has good taste but not this time. We had an itison voucher which cost us £20 for 2 mains from the grill section and a bottle of wine. We decided to order calamari and cod goujons as a starter, both around £6 each which I felt was really expensive because the portions were really small! They were both just ok. But then our mains arrived...my boyfriends salmon was actually £13.50 on the menu and if I hadn't had paid for the voucher I would have sent it back. It was literally the smallest poorest measliest skinniest piece of salmon I've ever seen! I wouldn't even have served it to a child. It came with about 2 potatoes cut half and a few pieces of salad. Wasn't even worth a fiver. I ordered prawns in the shells but wasn't given a sideplate to put the shells onto and no wet wipe either. Nobody asked us how our meals were and we left actually really hungry!! The wine was nice but that's about all that was good about this place

4 of us went here before heading next door to Swing, the 20’s style show barIt was pretty packed even this early in the evening at around 6:30 but evenly spaced out so as not to feel cramped. I have to say that every plateful was very good but the highlight had to be the Entrana Grill comprising of beautifully cooked steak. Not something I’ve often seen in a tapas restaurant With 2 bottles of wine, our meal came to a very reasonable £100Our only minor complaints was there was nowhere to hang out wet coats even though there was ample space in the hallway at the back if only there were hooks. We will be back !!

Visited with y other half as we both enjoy tapas. Menu was a clip board with several pieces of paper, most of them were greasy. We order bottle of Rioja which was good. For dinner we ordered: Patas bravas, albondigas, calamari, gambas pil pil, croquettes and bacalao fritto. This is where the issues of the evening mainly lay, the albondigas were two small meat balls and were served in a tomato sauce - it tasted like Heinz tinned ravioli. The batter on the calamari was embaressing and was rubber too. Entrails were also left in the gambas, not ideal when trying to remove when roasting hot. Patas brava were ok but tiny portion! The only saving grace on the fod side were the bacalao fritto (cod) and croquettes, both delicious. Night and day the batter on cod in comparison to calamari. All plates were expensive too especially for the portion size, poor value for money. It was a shame and a dissapointment as the resaurant itself is decorated very traditionally and all the waiting staff were friendly. I love tapas and especially when we holiday in Spain. I think we'll be sticking to only eating tapas in Spain from now on. Tapas - cheap, tastful and sharing dishes.........La Boca cetainly didn't deliver this.

Turned up before going to theatre. Place was empty. Should have known. Menus were A4 clipped to a board and pages covered with food. Nothing jumped out at me for eating. I am allergic to fish so limited. Ended up ordering two tapas between us. Pan con tomatoe with huge chuncks of raw garlic in it and burnt, what I would call chicken nuggets. No mushrooms on menu (wtf). So annoyed as been there on a good few occasions and was brill. Ended up just paying for the wine but not good on an empty stomach!!!!

I visited this absolute gem of a restaurant for the first time this evening; and it won't be the last!Whilst the dishes did look a little on the pricey side at first glance, the variety of the menu, the portion sizes and the excellent quality of each tapas dish made it more than worth it. The restaurant is super cosy with a great ambience, brilliant service and the menu offers flavours and combinations that I've never experienced in a tapas restaurant.I highly recommend the chorizo and chickpea stew (please forgive my lack of Spanish in giving this dish it's authentic name!)4 dishes between 2 ladies in their mid-20s was the perfect amount...and the beauty of tapas style dining is that you can always add more!I can't wait to return and try out more of the menu! Thanks guys :)

I have visited this restaurant several times and always enjoyed the food. However on a recent visit I was shocked at the changes. No wine list and no proper menu. Hardly any meat or chicken dishes. The ones I always enjoyed are no longer available. The meatballs were £6 for two small ones and the croquettes were burnt. No choice on the type of bread you could have. I ordered a chicken skewer as there wasn't much else. It was £7 and did look quite good when it arrived. However when I took the chicken off the skewer there were only 3 small pieces. The rest was onions and peppers. Impossible to share. There is also no paella of the day anymore. I was told they were now serving small plates rather than tapas, but there was less food and higher prices. A very disappointing evening which I had been looking forward to. I won't be back.

First up, no menu on display in window show have tipped me off, but this place is expensive (overpriced) i wouldn't expect to pay these prices even at the Mercado San Miguel in Madrid, £6 for what turned out to be a serving of 2 meatballs! Plates weren't clean, cutlery not clean. Staff were friendly, but forgot the request for some sauce.

Went on a 5pm deal which included 20% discount off early evening dinner. This just reduced individual dishes price to between five and ten pounds! Same deal on anyway at restaurant. Menu printed on about 5 different pages. No differentiation from a la carte/pre-theatre. Had to get waitress to explain it and to advise if we had ordered enough for 4. Grill section average price ten pounds. No wine list available. Had to select price unknown. Was ok.Not much atmosphere. Food served very quickly. Meagre bread portion. Olives good. Expensive meat/cheese sharing platter for all that was on it. Small tapas portions. Eg 2 small fish strips, 2 croquettes etc. Taste nothing special. Felt our variety was more like starters for 4. Left hungry. We could have ordered more after eating, but felt prices not worth it. We have tried many other tapas bars & regularly enjoy Spanish food on holiday, but we were all disappointed here.

I was disappointed to realise how expensive it was and how small portions they offered. This was a sample of tapas and not real tapas. I have been to so many tapas places and this was the first time they offered a small lamp chop...literally 1 piece which I couldn’t share with my partner in half. This tapas costed 12 £!!!!!! I cannot believe that I paid 12£ for 1 tiny piece of lamp chop. At least it should have been 2 pieces. Also the meatballs were just 2. We paid a lot of money and we left hungry at the end. A bit disappointing! I expected much better.....We also ordered steak and it was so chewy that at the end we left it. We couldn’t even eat it. I would never go back. It is not worth the money

I was here recently with a friend who has already posted a very positive and enthusiastic review, and I would echo everything he said about the great first impression -the staff and all the posters on the wall gave a real Spanish ambience to the restaurant.the staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring we made wise choices from the many delicious dishes on offer.I would particularly recommend the Russian salad, as la Boca definitely had its own "twist" to the traditional recipe which put it at a different level in terms of taste. It's almost unfair to highlight that, as everything we ordered-food and beer was first class. My only slight issue was the music, as we were seated close to a speaker; but as soon as I asked it was turned down.Altogether a most enjoyable lunch experience, and I will certainly be encouraging friends to visit.

La Boca is a relatively small restaurant but what it may lack in size, it more than compensates for in terms of the magnificent food that is produced. The menu offers a good variety of choice and I would particularly recomment the tapas and raciones that are on offer at a very competitive price.I particularly like that it is staffed mostly by bilingual native spanish speakers who are happy to assist fledgling Spanish learners like me around the intricacies of the language. They are also kind enough to offer their services as a meeting place for my Spanish conversation class once a month, and are happy to serve coffees and the odd glass of wine to our learners without insisting that they buy food.I took a friend here today and she states that it is the best of the city Spanish restaurants that we have visited so far.

Despite a slight hiccup with the fryer which meant a few of the tapas items were not available it did not deter from an excellent experience, There is a wide choice of tapas indeed we decided to add some extra dishes outwith the itison voucher. All the choices were first class tasty and of a good quality, We had prawns, chorizo, smoked ribs anchovies and Russian salad all were delicious. The pre starter of green olives with a garlic dressing to die for and the bread basket with balsamic and oil were top notch. For dessert we had almond tart and ice cream again it was faultless,Last but not least the Spanish draught lager went perfectly with the tapas.I would not hesitate to give my recommendation and will certainly be making a returnvisit.

I have not been to La Boca for a wee while and popped in yesterday afternoon on the hope of gaining a table. Surprised to see that it was not busy although the lunch time tables had probably headed out. Anyway, we opted for a selection of tapas and some revueltas de carne with a good bottle of Spanish white. I couldn't fault any dish, the Russian salad was up to the normal excellent standard as was the morcilla and the chicken wings. I have enjoyed revueltas in Spain and also had some badly made versions, La Boca served up a tasty feast. Well played to the chef on this dish. We also had calamari, pocos potatoes and rounded off the meal with a couple of carajillos. Don't fall for the glitzy marketing of the tapas chains in Glasgow, this is the real deal. Arrived at La Boca on a rainy Saturday evening, came through the door and was pleasantly surprised by the vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff. We then felt immediately foolish for not having been pre-booked as the place was rammed and no tables free.As we turned on our heels to leave we heard a passing voice exclaim that we should do as the Spaniards do and eat at the bar..why didnt we think of that! It was the friendly and urbane owner who didn't want to give potential diners reasons to leave the premises without increasing revenue..very smart guy! It was especially fortuitous since we'd left the fab cocktail bar at CitizenM (which doesn't serve food), when we would have happily sat at the bar there and eaten if we'd been able to do so.The tapas at La Boca is exceptional, (as is the owner and his staff), reasonably priced and everything obviously made from first principles although Im not sure the ribs described as beef were in fact actually pork..excellent nonetheless. After polishing off seconds and a bottle of really great wine recommended by the owner and selected by my wife after a blind taste test, we left an hour later, never happier to have spent 60 quid, just wish La Boca could work it's magic on the Glaswegian weather! We'll be back :)

Popped in for the lunch deal recently (3 tapas for £6.95). They were full (a good sign!), so I took a seat at the bar. Like many Spanish tapas bars in Spain, they had a display at the bar of their cold tapas (which looked delicious), and I noticed that most (if not all) if their beers were Spanish, a nice touch (as long as you like Spanish beer I guess...) I had the pan a la catalana, croquetas and patas bravas. All of which were a good size, fresh and delicious. They tasted just like the tapas I'm used to while holidaying in Spain. What more can you ask for? Most of the staff were Spanish who were chatting away to each other in Spanish which just added to the overall ambience of the place - genuinely felt like I could be in a beach side bar in Valencia, just a shame we didn't have the same weather! Not sure how it would work for a more formal sit down meal, but for a quick lunch in the city centre it's absolutely ideal.

I had to cancel my first planned visit and rebook. I know its a pain for the staff buy each time I called the level of service was always to the highest standard. What I love about tapas is that is you don't like one dish, you have another selection to chose from. The black pudding was very greasy and that was my first pick. However every other dish was very enjoyable. I like the atmosphere and the staff were excellent. I would recommend this place and will definitely be going back for me

In Glasgow for a theatre visit and this place was recommended. Excellent all round. Four of us and we ordered 4 Tapas each which was a bit much. A varied choice as we all ordered different dishes. The staff were very helpful as well. We finished it off with a lovely Brandy before making our way to the theatre. Definitely will visit again.

We booked here based on other people's good reviews but we're left feeling disappointed. The food was just "ok" nothing. Special, and wasn't particularly hot. The staff although friendly weren't the most attentive and we had to query the bill as we had been over charged. To be honest we still aren't sure it was correct but paid it anyway. We were sat at a table next to the kitchen. When my friend put her coat on at the end of her meal it was soaking wet. The coat was over the back of the chair however the floor was soaking. It wasn't raining outside. My friend went to try and dry her coat and the staff member apologised to myself and her daughter saying that the floor is always wet there and she doesn't know where the water comes from. To know a problem like this exists and sit people there isn't acceptable. It's also not acceptable that a restaurant knows of this sort of problem and doesn't address it. We were looking forward to our meal and left feeling very disappointed with a coat needing cleaned.

We had booked a late lunch time deal through 5pm and I don't know if the food was of a lower quality because it was an offer but I felt that most of the dishes tasted the same. Some of the dishes were served very quickly too which suggested a quick re-heat job.One of the dishes were brought out straight from an oven or some sort of heating device - it had a dish towel wrapped round it and the towel didn't look particularly clean. Given that our offer was so cheap and that we live nearby, I'd probably go back to give it a try but I wouldn't be in a major hurry to get back.

My partner and I popped in here for dinner before a show. We hadn't booked so were offered seats at the bar which we were happy with. The service was a little slow to order drinks and food, which is understandable seeing as the restaurant was full. Some of the tapas dishes were good but others just bland. We were both unimpressed with the black pudding (served with chips?!).

I have previously been here with a friend on a groupon that allowed us 5 dishes and bread and olives and have returned solo for a quick bite because I enjoyed it so much! It's a small, cosy restaurant so it's perfect for intimate dining. Lovely Spanish music plays in the background, the walls are tiled with what seems to be traditional Spanish design and most of the staff are Spanish also so it feels very authentic. Candles in glass bottles on every table give a really warm feeling to the place and my ONLY criticism of the decor is that in some points of the restaurant there is blue led lighting, which I don't think is in keeping with the rest of the interior. Blue lights should be limited to bars/clubs, whereas warm lighting is better for a sit down meal (in my opinion.)NOW THE FOOD:Omg I don't think I've had nicer tapas in glasgow! This is the second time I've ordered the fried aubergines with a sugar cane glase (the blue cheese dish goes well with this dish as contrast) and they are mouth wateringly good! The gambas pil pil are the best in town. They just have that extra something that took the breath away from me and my dining partner last time. And it's the same today!Tbf u know when the olives come that the food is going to be good. Everything is cooked to perfection, delivered promptly and the service is very charming. Just one criticism here- the waitresses could be better at up selling drinks. For it being so small, last time I was trying to flag someone down for another drink for a while, and after the water I ordered at the start of this meal, no one has suggested another drink to me. U don't need to be pushy, just recommending (even soft drinks are better than a free tap water after all) something here an there can actually be helpful for customers who are less organised, and helpful for the profit margin too I'd imagine.Really enjoy the atmosphere here and I think the quality of food u get in such a central location is so reasonably priced. Great sharing sized potions also. Will be back again and again no doubt. Keep up the good work and get rid of the blue lights !

I know tapas are small, but I was a bit taken aback at being given just two tiny bolitas de queso de cabra y morcilla. They were so small they barely had anything inside them! Also bread portions are really stingy. Food was mixed. Some dishes quite average, gambas pil oil were well cooked but had no flavour, and some were really tasty, solomillo de cerdo was melt in the mouth, but again portion was slight.

This is my first visit to a Spanish restaurant out with Spain so wasn't sure how authentic it would be. To my surprise it was as if being in Spain, the foods and the tastes were spot on.The staff were polite and courteous if a tad busy - more staff would help or better organisation. These are all the good points that can be mentioned.I was not happy with the following:1. Cafe cleanliness - bar stool chairs and menus (lunchtime and a la carte menus)are filthy.2. Service speed - our tapas arrived in bits and pieces with various dishes being taken to the wrong tables and then eventually being brought to our table.3. Portions - Tapas for two containing three items etc, if it's tapas for two portion it in multiples of two etc.4. Value for money.Maybe this is a one off experience, however, we witnessed other customers with wrong and fragmented service.Would we go back, I don't think so.Such a disappointment as the food was authentic.

We've visited La Boca twice now and the staff were very friendly and accommodating; quickly and efficiently rectifying a couple of oversights. The restaurant was fairly busy on each occasion but there was only one member of waiting staff on both times - rushed off their feet - and I feel that having just one more staff member on the floor could have improved our experience. Overall, tasty food (especially the sizzling gambas pil pil and chocolate-orange torte) and courteous staff, though.

Food was acceptable at best but the service was so rushed it was as if they could'nt get us out fast enough even although we had booked. The reason give was that they required the table back in an hour. This was made clear to us after we had requested to be move from our original table close to a doorway.I understand the reasoning as it looked as though they were going to move our table over to join it on to a table which sat 6 people to make it sit 8 However the rush to move us on was verging on the ridiculous and it seemed that the people who were not there yet were more important than those who were. Also they forgot one of our dishes which did not arrive until we were just about finished the meal.Again ,because they were in too much of a hurry. The 5 dishes we got werre on our table before we could enjoy our G&T's whiich were actually G&sodas.Again too rushed.I would estimate our food was on the table 5 mins after we sat down. This begs the question , is it all pre -prepared and then reheated.Whatever the case we wont be back and I could not reccomend this place to anybody due to the indecent haste to get you fed and out the door.

I have had a chance to try La Boca due to their Groupon deal. Unfortunately, the exprience was very poor comparing to what other restaurants have to offer.- Servers were friendly and where trying, but in the same time didn't do anything at all to make our time in La Boca better than just average. They seemed very unproductive and without the focus on customers. We were waiting 15 minutes to have our order taken (with menu upside down to show we are ready). The waiter passed out table 5 times doing 'stuff'' before he decided to ask for anything.- Food was very average quality, undoubtedly the worst comparing to other spanish resturants in the area (Iberica, La Tasca). The worst part was the presentation of it as... there was none. Just food on a plate. Exactly as I could make myself at home.- Cocktail took quite long and again comparing to the creativity that competitors can show it was very poorly presented.- Interior desing was tragic. Everything and nothing. 0 conception, 0 ideas, just whatever they could find spanish-themed all over the walls. The best one was the board with 'Paella del dia' It didn't state what the actuall paella of the day was. Insted, there was a 'freedom mark' written down, sticker of snowman, sticker of some other shape... generally everything, but what actually should be there. All together it wasn't tragic, staff seemed friendly, but a bit unprofessional and not hospitality-orientated. Despite having the food half priced with groupon deal I wouldn't ever consider coming back.

As it was a Tuesday we had the option of the set £6.95 for 3 dishes or we could select pretty much anything off the main menu for £2.50 a dish. We selected six dishes and asked for some bread and drinks. The first of our dishes arrived a few short minutes later along with our bread and drinks. Within five minutes of that all of our dishes were on the table. Both my colleague and myself really enjoyed our lunch here, the size of the tapas dishes allowing us to try a variety of flavours and not leave any behind. The service was friendly and quick. Some drinks didn't even make it to the table, my glass of water had bits in it. The food wasn't too bad, although I think you can find better Spanish food in Glasgow. Visited with a friend as we fancied somewhere a bit different. Nicely decorated with a cosy Spanish feel. Staff were friendly and conversational. When we went it was £8.50 for three dishes, which makes for a very decent meal and the food was all very pleasant - my friend had the mussels which were particularly generous. The only slight let down was the chocolate fondue for two people, which consisted mainly of chopped apple and banana, and could have been more generous with the strawberries/churros at almost £10. But overall very good value and a solid choice for anyone bored of pizza/pasta/burger.
