An absolute gem of a place! Went with a group of 4 and ordered 8 dishes. Every single one was a hit. There was only one chef and he nailed every dish. All pasta dishes were cooked perfectly. The pork was amazing. Nothing to fault! The service was also outstanding and drinks were divine! We will be back for sure! Amazing cosy atmosphere 10/10 in our opinion

Absolutely stunning experience for good food lovers. Recommendation was to choose dishes to share. Experience get even better then. The wine list is appropriate for the food type and varied. The Argentinean Mendoza red wine was young but made it through and supported well the food. Each plate was surprising, yet clear, delicious and super well executed. Kudos to the chef and the gentleman welcoming and in charge of service who was clear with menu, services, explaining kindly each plate and pleasant through the evening. Real good.and real surprise. Keep pushing guys. Rare! PS: as music fan, my daughter and i loved the playlist too.

So excitingly different. No nonsense service, as the dishes were all sharing, as one was nearly finished another would appear. No rush, if anything was left on a plate the dish remained on the table until we asked for it to be removed. We never left very much at all! 10/10.

Absolutely stunning selection of European cuisine with fresh pasta dishes. Service was really polite and kind. I recommend everyone give the goat's cheese custard starter a try. The coley was superb, and the cavatelli pasta had the perfect mouthfeel. All dishes were wonderful. We were recommended 2-3 plates per person, ended up spending roughly 30GBP per person with two large bottles of sparkling water and 8 dishes total. Definitely filling, and definitely worth sharing every plate around! The atmosphere was nearly perfect, but the music choice was surprisingly laid-back compared to how upmarket the meal presentation is.

A cozy restaurant with an absolutely delicious variety of food. It came to about £30 per person in the end (including the 10% service charge/tip) which I consider reasonable for the quality and fast service - each plate came out approximately one after the other. The starter sourdough bread and hummus dip was a highlight for me that set the tone and quality for the other dishes - all of which were excellent. As the dishes are intended for sharing I recommend that you try and get a wide spread of dishes the first time you go rather than all opting for the same thing so you get to taste more of what's on offer.

Eighty Eight in Glasgow certainly lived up to the hype! The atmosphere was lively and buzzing. The food was, in a word, great. Each dish was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. However, we learned a valuable lesson: 5 portions per person is way too much! While everything was delicious, we ended up feeling overly full and couldn't fully appreciate the final dishes, including the mouthwatering steak. Next time, we'll definitely be more strategic with our ordering. Despite the minor over-ordering mishap, we had a fantastic evening at Eighty Eight :)

We ended up here unexpectedly. Were convinced by the people who were eating outside. All the dishes we received were very tasty, well thought out and beautifully presented. Service was top notch. We came out completely happy. Our recommendation: bread with basil/goat cheese/marmalade. So simple. But so delicious. The fresh pasta with pistachio pesto also had such a deep flavor. ❤️ Unbeatable for this price.

My wife and I went here a couple weeks ago and had a very mixed experience. The food, it must be said, was great. At least, until the dessert. We ordered something that was described as a "parfait" only to receive a solid, frozen brick of something like ice cream in return. I waved our waitress over. "Could this be right?" I said. We didn't have knives, only spoons, which was laughable because even a knife wouldn't have cut this thing. It was like it'd been sculpted out of ice. "Yes, just give it a minute and it'll soften up," she said. Ok then. 10 minutes later, we were still plying at it with our spoons like Michelangelo going at David. When the waitress came back with the bill, I said, unprompted, that while the main dishes had been very good, the dessert had not been. "Sorry to hear that," she said, "I'll pass that along." Pass that along? I'm not sure what I'd been expecting to hear, but that the information would simply be "passed along" was not it. Additionally, it very much bothers me at restaurants like this one when a tip is automatically included. What am I tipping for, exactly? In the US, servers make $2 an hour. I'm sure it's not the same here. Given the service I'd just received, I was particularly flummoxed. All in all, a real shame given that the main dishes we'd had were really very good.

We went for a late dinner and all of the dishes were incredible! We shared 4 plates among the two of us and it was plenty. The beefsteak tomatoes were incredible, both pasta dishes were cooked perfectly and we finished with the pork chop which had peaches and baby gem lettuce with it which was a nice touch. Wish we could’ve tried the sourdough but it was sadly sold out before we got there! Must’ve meant it was good! The spicy margarita was veeeery spicy, but the French mocktail was sweet and delicious!! Everything was plated so beautifully as well. Definitely a high class experience.

Went on a Friday night, restaurant wasn’t too busy. Tiny, cramped table. Food was very average, often with listed flavours and ingredients undetectable in the final dish. Very small portions — you will leave hungry. However the whole experience was marred by awful service. No drinks offered with the menu and the waiter walked off. A long time to flag one down, but the aperitif cocktail took so long to arrive we were halfway through our meal. The glass of wine paired with the main fish finally arrived as the plates were being cleared and dessert offered. We then asked for the bill but had to go down to the front to interrupt the staff who were having a long conversation as it didn’t seem they wished to give it to us after a 10 minute wait. Seemed like we were interrupting their Friday night fun. We didn’t particularly want to tip, but we were told this was added to all tables over two. We were a table of two, but the staff clarified it was actually all tables over one. Partner had been here a couple of times before and thought the food and service had noticeably deteriorated. We won’t be back.

We loved this place in Glasgow's West End so much we went back a second night! The food is excellent. We were amazed away by how good the simple yet creative dishes are. While the menu is limited (and changes daily), you will find something to your liking. The very small kitchen is at the front of the restaurant and you can even look into the kitchen from the street. You'll notice the freshly made pasta hanging in the window. Pasta dishes are simple and delicious. The braised fennel and radicchio dish had a an olive oile, herb, and chili dressing and was so flavorful I was blown away. The service was super friendly and the server was extremely knowledgeable about the dishes. It was obvious they truly care and are truly passionate about the foods. they serve. This small restaurant is an absolute gem. My wife, our gourmand friend from Napa Valley (a place where they have some works class restaurants), and I agreed this was one of the best restaurants we had ever been to. Prices are unbelievably reasonable.

We were there for dinner and absolutely enthusiastic by the quality of the food, which is tapas-style. The menu changes daily (check online), and there is little choice, but this is good. The home-made pasta was absolutely delicious, but everything else was also very good. £10 for the pasta is also great value for money as the portion was not small at all! The service was good with everyone nice and friendly. The environment is small, and it was a bit noisy, with the music a tad bit too loud for a restaurant. I cannot give 5 stars because of a bad practice that is spreading: the place adds 10% of "optional" service charge to all tables, and one has to awkwardly ask to take it off the bill if they don't want to. We'd have spontaneously added a generous tip ourselves, since everything was good, but decided for a small one, just to oppose this system. Management: just pay your staff fairly and show the final prices on the menu.

My first time visiting but I was really impressed by the food on offer. We started with the goats cheese custard which was outstanding. The cured sea bream was similarly really good, and was the Tenderstem brocolli. I wasn’t blown away by the pasta, but I think that might be more because of personal preference than anything else. Whilst service was good initially, it tailed away later in the night as it got busier - which meant it was quite difficult to pay etc. Overall I really enjoyed my visit, I’ll definitely be back!

I went to this restaurant a year ago and it was one of my favourite in Glasgow. Unfortunately it has declined substantially. Three items from the already small menu were out of stock meaning there was no meat option on the menu at all; despite us having a reservation and being expected. We ordered plates that didn’t arrive, wine was also out of stock and ingredients were listed on the menu but barely featured on the plate (again I can only assume due to stocking issues). The prices were incredibly high despite very limited choice, tiny portion sizes and extremely limited options due to poor stocking. Other customers were equally unimpressed which didn’t help the atmosphere. Staff were polite but did omit things from our order in error. All in all, this is incredibly poor value for money.

Quite disappointed overall with the quality of the food, considering the portion size and price it's honestly shocking that they are serving such inconsistent, tasteless and badly seasoned food. The halibut was decent, same for the salt baked celeriac however the puttanesca was barely edible and incredibly salty, the panisse was just underwhelming and the courgette was shockingly bad. Tbh the duck was actually amazing but it feels bad when only 1/6 dishes are actually worth what they are charging. Don't bother going here unless you fancy your chances playing the roulette.

Quaint location, small door, cute tables, and music. The person waiting on us knew the menu, ingredients, wines, and she was kind and efficient. The food was spectacular. We had a combination of dishes including sour dough/goat cheese custard; leak and romesco sauce; pasta; and amazing chocolate cremeux and strawberries for dessert. Wine was amazing. (This meal was wonderful - last night was a disappointment at Gloriosa -see review). From the menu in our photos, we ordered 1. freedom sourdough with goat cheese custard 5/5, 2. bean sprout and chilli summer rolls, 4/5 3. leek, romesco, celery, hazelnut5/5 4. Tagliatelle, cacao e Pepe 5/5 5. Chocolate Cremeux, strawberry and meadowsweet. 10/5!!! I felt the price was a bargain for the quality of the food. The service was very good. The atmosphere simple but pleasant- it let the food be the show stopper. This would be a favorite go-to if I lived in Glasgow. We have experienced food in many countries- this rates very highly.

I went for a take away which was only a short wait. They even gave me a glass of wine for while I was there. As usual, the food was excellent as it always is here. We keep returning for take aways and dining in 👍🙂

So refreshing, heart-felt, from start to finish, each dish full of character- exquisite gorgozola cream ,potato foccacia that tasted of duck fat, gnocchi slightly crispy exterior, generous fresh artichokes in an eccentric lasagne. Great service and wine .huge congratulations to you guys

We were here for dinner with a group of friends. It is quite a small restaurant and we found our selves on a cramped table at the back. There were quite a lot of us and as it is a small plate place we tried a lot of dishes. The food was OK although some dishes were quite pricey a few more pounds would buy you a full main dish elsewhere. Service was ok. At the end of the day it ended up quite pricy we thought. If you are going to do this sort of thing Ox and Finch set the standard. Nice enough but would not go back.

Went for the £5 margs and they did not disappoint! The classic one was delicious and I’d go back for that alone.

Superb food , served well. It’s ‘small plate’ service which has gain popularity, you’ll need 5-6 plates as a rule for a meal for two. Pasta is absolutely Devine and made in the store and hung to dry on the window. Produce is good quality and well cooked. Service was attentive but not overwhelming. All reigns 5 stars!

This is by far the worst dining experience I've had not just in Glasgow but anywhere. It's cramped, dingy and noisey. The two couples sitting next to us were very loud....to the point we couldn't hear to have our own conversation. It's also hugely overpriced...

Had the valentines tasting menus one meat and one veggie. first course fantastic, second course very bland and tasteless(tofu, halibut), third course good(cauliflower cheese pasta) , fourth course excellent(beef was cooked perfectly and braised beetroot also brilliant and sauce was tasty), finally desert was good. Overall pretty good but not worth the money you're paying. Will try again in the future

Have enjoyed here before and even though the food wasn’t quite as good as last time the biggest disappointment was the service which was cold bordering on unfriendly. Will give iit a while before returning.

Enjoyed the Hogmanay menu at 88. The individual courses were generous and well balanced. I'd challenge anyone to eat the chocolate cremeux by themselves! The service was prompt and friendly. Wines were reasonably priced. Only the tiniest of grumbles: the beetroot, walnut and valdeon salad could have used a bit more cheese. Would definitely go back.

We booked this last minute on a Monday evening after our first choice was not available. Wasnt sure what to think about this place at first. We had the Monday tasting menu for £25pp. 9 small plates to share. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Pasta dish could have been cooked a little longer for my liking. It was al dente which i know how pasta is supposed to be. We are quite big eaters and was worried it wouldnt be enough. Left feeling full and satisfied. Service was good, atmosphere good. Got parking outside easily. Would visit again.

A small plates place with small tables and a smallish menu. The prices a bit less so. That said they were interesting choices which, whilst reasonable, sometimes sounded better on paper. Nothing was a let down but there was a lack of sparkle in some plates which places like Brett (for example) would have delivered better.

So so so so sooooo good! Service was brilliant, I think it was just the chef and 1 waitress working but we still we’re checked in on and asked if we needed any top ups. The food was DELICIOUS. Honestly couldn’t rate it more highly, pay a visit ASAP. Star of the show was the pork belly - we actually ordered seconds! We were gutted there was no Arancini left, but I guess this means we need to pay another visit???

Very disappointing given how much this place has been recommended. Undercooked and black potatoes, sauce out of a jar and one member of staff rather patronising when we complained ( about the potatoes).

My friend and I visited on the Monday night which is Eighty Eight's taster Menu night. It's 5 courses for £25 per person. The food was rich and delicious, small shaing plates but it was definitely enough for 2 people...although a dessert each would have just been the best as it was absolutely delicious! The photo's are better doing the talking but the pasta (red pepper pesto) and the goats cheese custard with fennel bread were my personal highlights... and of course the chocolate dessert which I just wish there had been more of. I'd definitely go back but would like to try the wine list next time! 😉

Disappointed with this tbh never even had a full kids menu to offer. Even though theres only 3 things on it. Starters said tomato soup there was none. Mains said kids burger there was none and dessert was supposed to be a trio of didlfferent ice creams and they only had vanilla so very poor for £12:95. Defo not a place I would recommend to take kids despite the good views over the pitch Carvery was also cold and not worth the money. Place has went down hill food wise des pite the makeover can't see us returning anytime soon

A lovely interior and it's in a great location. The staff seemed super friendly and professional. They had a decent cocktail menu, but being a "Gin Bar" I feel their gin selection is pretty poor... They didn't have the first 2 gins I asked for, one of which was a very common brand. There's plenty of non specialist bars in the area with a better gin selection. I was also a bit disappointed at the lack of perfect serve. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I don't think I'll be back.
