Eighty Eight in Glasgow City

Food is outstanding with every plate a visual and taste treat. This is just not the sort of food I’d ever produce at home. Special. The service was professional, friendly and helpful. We’ll be back.

The food was amazing, where to start. The goats cheese custard, sourdough was sublime, boquerones were fresh and reminded us of sitting in the sun. Ratte potatoes were fantastic. Could go on but this is a place you have to visit. Is small and could be seen as a little crowded, but food is worth it. Young team in kitchen are very visible and boy do they work hard, but the hard work produces incredible food. Servicing team were friendly and very helpful. Hope this place keeps growing is well worth a visit. Recently had a family meal at Ox & Finch, which was good, this place is 10 times better.

Absolutely outstanding. Came to dine here with my mum and we both agreed that in my 21 years it was the best food I have ever had and in her 50+ years she said the same thing. Credit to the boys in the kitchen and the lovely floor staff- would 100% recommend to all. Must try if in Glasgow. The sea bream dish was especially exceptional as well as the feta potatoes.

Some of the best food I have eaten this year. All of the dishes we had were just taste sensations and it is difficult to find fault with any of them. All were just superb, but some of the more outstanding dishes were the goats cheese, the taramsalata, all three pasta dishes and the Hanger Steak with Ox Tongue.

Small plates and bigger plates. All excellent. Small but decent choice of wine. Good service. Would recommend. A west end gem.

Had a great meal at their sister restaurant Scamp a few months earlier so we were encouraged to try here. A cosy venue with lovely staff. How one chef can produce this quality of food on his own I have no idea. Great stuff.

Tonight my girlfriend and I went for a birthday meal at eighty eight and honestly it is without hesitation the most incredible food we have had in Glasgow for a long time. The staff (we were served by Lily and a gentlemen whose name i don’t know but he was always brilliant) but they couldn’t have been more welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive if they tried. The food was insanely good, every course, every mouthful was brilliant! Value for money is AMAZING but it’s more then that, it’s got a great atmosphere , in a wonderful cosy setting that makes you relax and really enjoy your time there - can’t fault the place and above all i cannot wait go back and tell everyone we know to go!!! It was a Monday night and it was busy - they made the entire experience something we won’t forget - 10/10 - one of the best restaurants in Glasgow without question!

I Googled "Restaurants in Glasgow not to be missed" and Eighty Eight came up in the list. We were interested in the tasting menu concept and were we glad we did. We did four tasting plates, starting with the Freedom sourdough with goat cheese custard, marmalade and basil. We then had the tete de moine cheese with green gauge and basil followed by the Tagliatelle with courgette, lemon and parmesan and, finally, the Filet with the cauliflower, gorgonzola and walnut. Each course was pure joy. We would have had dessert but we were so satisfied and did not want to interfere with our palettes so we decided not to. Highly recommend this place. It is innocuous looking from the street, is not fancy but the service was well paced and very accommodating. Do not miss it!

We had dinner on monday and they served diverse menu small delicious dishes. Since I was pregnant, they adapted the menu for me. The atmosphere was very nice.

Taste sensation We were lucky that another local restaurant that was booked out recommended 88 since it proved to be the best restaurant that we have visited on our travels. The small plates we ordered were all delicious, atmosphere friendly and relaxed and the service knowledgeable

Just come and try, special kitchen, friendly people, unforgettable experience in Glasgow. Everything is really perfect in this small cozy place! Small plates with uncommon intriguing flavors coming from combinations of good ingredients. Easy and tasty, you would try them all. Don’t miss it!

Simply delicious. 4 out of 5 dishes we ordered were 5/5 for us. Only one I would say was 4/5 for our taste. The dishes come out as small plates as they are ready. (This meal was wonderful - last night was a disappointment at Gloriosa -see review). From the menu in our photos, we ordered 1. freedom sourdough with goat cheese custard 5/5, 2. bean sprout and chilli summer rolls, 4/5 3. leek, romesco, celery, hazelnut5/5 4. Tagliatelle, cacao e Pepe 5/5 5. Chocolate Cremeux, strawberry and meadowsweet. 10/5!!! I felt the price was a bargain for the quality of the food. The service was very good. The atmosphere simple but pleasant- it let the food be the show stopper. This would be a favorite go-to if I lived in Glasgow. We have experienced food in many countries- this rates very highly. Make sure you eat here before everyone else finds out how delicious the food is!

I went for a take away which was only a short wait. They even gave me a glass of wine for while I was there. As usual, the food was excellent as it always is here. We keep returning for take aways and dining in 👍🙂

We were here for dinner with a group of friends. It is quite a small restaurant and we found our selves on a cramped table at the back. There were quite a lot of us and as it is a small plate place we tried a lot of dishes. The food was OK although some dishes were quite pricey a few more pounds would buy you a full main dish elsewhere. Service was ok. At the end of the day it ended up quite pricy we thought. If you are going to do this sort of thing Ox and Finch set the standard. Nice enough but would not go back.

Superb food , served well. It’s ‘small plate’ service which has gain popularity, you’ll need 5-6 plates as a rule for a meal for two. Pasta is absolutely Devine and made in the store and hung to dry on the window. Produce is good quality and well cooked. Service was attentive but not overwhelming. All reigns 5 stars!

This is by far the worst dining experience I've had not just in Glasgow but anywhere. It's cramped, dingy and noisey. The two couples sitting next to us were very loud....to the point we couldn't hear to have our own conversation. It's also hugely overpriced...
