When ordered food specifically asked for a vegan version of all the food, bread arrived with a side of cows milk butter, dumplings were drenched in oil and so was the sauerkraut stew, which was just sauerkraut and mushrooms. Food in general wasn't very tasty. The server told a table next to me and my husband "enjoy your meal" but never to us.

Looking for VEGAN options? Absolutely avoid this place. Ate better dumplings literally from supermarket. Beetroot soup was just sweet and greesy. Sauerkraut was awful. Compote pure sugar. And now the best: Sauerkraut wasnt vegan. They serve it with BUTTER and dont have alternatives.

A unique place at the heart of West End! Bar area is dog friendly and great veggie options although Polish cuisine is most famous for meat dishes. Vegan bigos: recommended!

OMG! This place was incredible! The service was superb, and the food was great. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel like valued guests. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavors and beautifully presented. The ambiance was inviting and sophisticated. I highly recommend this restaurant for an amazing dining experience.

My sister had already been with her husband and wanted to go back, so we booked five of our family for a birthday lunch. The food was delicious and plentiful and the staff were very pleasant and helpful when it came to giving us information on dishes on the menu. I would definitely recommend a visit if you're at Kelvingrove Art Gallery, it's only a five minute stroll away. The potato pancakes and beef stew are highly recommended, totally yummy!

Probably my favourite restaurant in this part of Glasgow. Beef stew and potato pancakes are literally to die for, ambiance is so cute and service makes you feel right at home. Price is just perfect for the quality and range of polish drinks is a the best.

Beautiful wholesome food . We previously visited Poland some years back and loved the food. So it was myself, husband and son. My Son and Hubby had Ghoulash soup which was amazing, very substantial. I had the cabbage and mushroom dumplings which were delicious. I had the beef stew and potato pancakes absolutely outstanding, quite big in portion so did share with my hubby who had ordered veal but then wanted mine, but it was fine to share. My Son had grilled chicken and we had a big side order of chips which we shared. Fabulous, highly recommend.

Unbelievably amazing food!!! Feels like a hidden gem because it’s not obviously a restaurant from outside, you have to walk down the stairs from the social club. The pierogi are to die for, as is the Ukrainian borscht! Cannot wait to go here again.

If you are visiting the Kelvingrove museum, this is probably one of the best place to eat lunch. I have not eaten Polish food before but the food here is amazingly good (I had the duck). This wonderful gem is hidden in the basement so we could not find it initially.

Good food, definitely visit again

This place is not obviously a restaurant from the outside but it's definitely worth a visit. When you go through the front door look for the stairwell on the left and go down to the restaurant. I had potato pancakes with beef stew, coleslaw, and what I believe to be red cabbage. I wasn't found of the red cabbage but everything else was fantastic!! The apple pie was great as well! It's not on the menu but you can just ask what desserts they have available. If I'm ever in the area I will go again!!

Fantastic food at a reasonable price in a relaxed atmosphere. The potato pancakes and dumplings were amazing!! We also enjoyed the pork medallions w/mushrooms and beef stew. The vegetable sides for the mains are excellent as well. We didn’t see the sign for the restaurant until we walked in the building and then started down the flight of stairs. So glad we decided to check it out. The homemade juice is good too.

Great food at a reasonable price. Despite being alone in the restaurant (we turned up just as it opened) the atmosphere was lovely, and made even better by the staff. We will be back!

I do enjoy Coming here it has that homely vibe to the restaurant. This is a family run buisnes and this is what l like about small family run businesses where the dad cooksand the mum, daughter works front of house. The menu is mostly rustic homestyle comfort foods, and their prices are so cheap. I would highly recommend anyone looking for sometning different to try here you will not be disappointed.

Masakra byliśmy w trójkę i dziecko były urodziny mojej partnerki zamówiliśmy trzy różne dania z menu okazało się że nic z tego nie ma. Może liczyli że nam coś zaproponują od siebie czyli coś co im zalega w lodówkach czyli stare. Wyszliśmy i poszliśmy do greckiej restauracji było super. Poza tym to jest POLSKI KLUB IM. GEN. SIKORSKIEGO powinni promować Polskę albo patrona a oni wywiesili 30 zdjęć kucharza który nie potrafi ogarnąć menu. Nie polecam

Great food, great value and friendly service.

The polish stew is the best meal in the world. I have it every time I go and I’m never disappointed. I love it. We usually have the cottage cheese pierogies too which don’t sound like much but they’re soooo good. It does feel like you’re in someone’s house basement but that’s part of what I love about it. I can’t recommend this place enough. Great value too :0)

Having visited Poland a number of times and also loved the food I was a bit apprehensive on how this restaurant was going to be. WOW, it is amazing!! Not on the main road so looks like someones house, family run and you feel like you are going for a meal in someones house, delicious food, great prices and lovely staff! Lots of polish people were in restaurant at same time so that's a good sign!

I love U Jarka. Every time I'm in town from California, I try to find time to get my fix. There's not a bad dish on the menu. Don't forget the Sour Rye Soup for your appetizer. My friends and family also appreciate the Polish beer.

Regularmente visitamos este restaurante - familia de cuatro con dos niños pequeños. El personal es amable y accesible. Los propietarios muy a menudo vienen y charlan con nosotros. La cocina tradicional polaca es deliciosa, elaborada con ingredientes de alta calidad, todos preparados con productos frescos. No hay mucho tiempo de espera, libros y crayones para niños. Deliciosos pasteles para los postres. Rango de precios de gama media. Prueba y visita y no te decepcionará.

This is a wonderful place to eat in a quiet and leafy area just south of Kelvingrove Park. My family and I have spent a lot of time in eastern Europe and the food they serve here is exactly as it should be. The portions are generous and good value. Excellent borscht for only about a pound a bowl. Good range of Polish beers. I really appreciated that even the potatoes tasted like the ones you get in Poland - they are usually so hard to find in the UK. The restaurant is in a cellar and has a friendly, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Will come again. Thank you.

Found this eatery by chance due to the wonderful aromas wafting outside. we went downstairs to find a truly authentic polish restaurant, warmly welcomed by Bozena and Piotrek and ordered the borscht soup along with the beef soup, both exceptional, mains were equally fantastic, the bill was perfect and by the time we were leaving the place was filling up, a great find !!!

If in doubt remember "U Jarka"! Fun service and large portions for little money. Perhaps the pierogi starter, or the good soups, then the pork. The wine list is very short but at £10 a bottle you may not mind!

Another very enjoyable - and filling - dinner at U Jarka in the basement of the Polish club here in Glasgow. The food is genuinely Polish in style and ingredients and cooking by the chef parton with help from his family, especially his wife's great pierogi. Potato pancakes are crisp and delicious while the pierogi (traditional Polish dumplings) in a choice of three fillings are perfect. My pork escalopes with mushrooms was tender and delicious- the best pork dish I have had for ages. And all dishes are reasonably priced while the wines from the very small list from the adjacent bar cannot be beaten for price.

What a delicious place to eat. The food is so authentic and amazing. The staff is wonderfully friendly and the prices are very good. It is tucked away and a bit hard to find but you can smell it as you get close.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere!

For past three or four years we’ve been dining out in Finnieston on a very regular basis. Last week we decided to forgo chi chi and my mate opted to book U Jarka. A complete antidote to the Finnieston Formula but quite fab! Our welcome was genuine, not taught. A real homely atmosphere, smiley ,interested and interesting. Loads of time to discuss the menu , Polish food and Poland in general. We relaxed immediately. The dining room is quirky and charming , with Hansel and Gretel chairs. (Go see!) We ordered lots of food asking our waitress loads of questions. How charming and patient she was. The food... if you think of pierogi as stodgy dumplings, as I did, you’re completely wrong. Ours were featherlight and filled with potato and cheese, delicious. Meat and mushrooms. We ordered three plates for two. The perfect starter to Polish food. Then on to potato pancakes with sour cream. Beautifully crisp, not greasy and the sour cream an ideal counterpoint. For our mains we had debated so many options but choose huge veal escalopes . Crisp yet juicy served with chips and salad.This was wonderful cold weather food, quite a revelation in the sense that after everything we ate, we should have felt bloated but didn’t , were simply full and content. The place was full of happy diners and not just Polish patrons, talking about what they were eating.A lovely atmosphere of excellent food shared. It was great to eat in a place near ‘ The Strip’ where the food was the star rather than the clothes, makeup or networking opportunities! (Perhaps a bit harsh?) Actually I can’t fault our evening at all. A really happy, delicious evening and a real find. I wasn’t paying last week but my mate was grinning from ear to ear at a bill of £60.00 for eight full-size plates of deliciousness and two bottles of wine (Ssh!) We’ll be back to sample the rest of the menu, especially the intriguing soups that get fab reviews. Hope you get the chance to go. Do book. And please don’t tell anybody!

Went there for dinner today, had to wait 20 minutes to get a chance to order food. About an hour after ordering the food we have recieved starters at the same time as the main meal, by the time we were finished with the starters food was already cold, chips were raw inside, took the waitress 15 minutes to bring a can of cola. When it came to payment the waitress has already forgot what was ordered. Definitly would not visit again.

Have been in a few times now and it is usually very quiet, which is crazy, this is good food and cheap wine. Intend to work my way round the menu. Never have room for dessert though....

Very friendly staff who spoke both Polish and English. Food was served quickly and tastes delicious. The restaurant has a lovely family feel to it. We will be back.

Η είσοδος στο κτίριο είναι λίγο απογοητευτική. Ο χώρος σχετικά μικρός. Οι επιλογές αρκετές στο menu. Ο σερβιτόρος ήταν ευγενικός και οι τιμές καλές αν και το πιάτο με τη πάπια ήταν κάπως τσιμπημενο. Οι μερίδες είναι μεγάλες. Προτείνω τη σούπα στο καρβέλι αφού για μένα αποτελεί ότι καλύτερο δοκίμασα στη Πολωνία.

Nice home cooked food for a small price

Service terrible, portion size an absolute joke, my girlfriend is from the Czech Republic and likes Polish cuisine we went expecting a good meal, but no, I would not recommend this place at all.

Our first visit. Its very easy, restaurant and bar are down the stairs. The restaurant is large and attractive. Learning about Poland is entirely optional, but worthwhile.

U Jarka is in the basement of the Polish Club but it is open to non-members and, more importantly, anyone. The decor is perhaps a bit dated but charming nonetheless with a rustic flare. Our welcome was warm and, worry not, the menu is in English and Polish and the staff are always helpful.

An amazing place, the food is superb. A bit hard to find if you don't know Glasgow, and it's in the basement, steep steps and mind your head if you are tall. But worth a visit, the majority of the patrons are Polish... so that tells it all. Nearest thing to eating in Warsaw I have experienced.
