Arrived here for lunch with only 3 tables with sit down diners , the place was deserted. Met by a pasty faced Lady who asked if we had a reservation , I jokingly stated she must be kidding as the place was empty, her reply was , if you have no booking then sorry , we are fully booked ! Please remember this place is in the middle of nowhere really so there would not be 40 people turn up in the next 30 minutes for god sake. Disappointed went into the garden centre for a look about and a coffee .. after 30 minutes went back to the car to continue our journey , out of interest I popped back into the restaurant for a look and still pretty empty , maybe another 2 additional tables taken. In short I felt the hospitality offered was zero , there didn`t need to be the attitude of " no booking , no entry " . Even though I love seafood and know their reputation for quality , there was no need for the attitude and rudeness. Hence the poor review

Over priced accommodation, very tired and poor facilities. The restaurant lacked atmosphere and food was most certainly below par both dinner and breakfast with over cooked monkfish curry and breakfast re-heated with warm apple juice and orange juice. The Spa facilities were a let down with the infinity pool closed due to chemicals issue then we overheard it was due to staff shortages and pool staff were incredibly rude to both myself and my daughter, for that alone, we most certainly won’t be back!

On the 17th may my daughter and I, after having a few days break at one of the holiday lodges nearby, were about to enter these licensed premises. We stopped first at a rubbish disposal area on the opposite side of the road to dispose of a very small black bin liner first, to keep the area clean As the wheelie bins were open and there was no sign at the entrance and it was on the other side of the road to this establishment. Suddenly an employee who did not identify himself, appeared at the entrance and in a threatening and aggressive manner shouted at me that we couldn't place rubbish in the wheelie bin as he owned it. I then asked where I should dispose of it. H e replied, "I don't F****** care". I suggested that he places a sign next to the entrance to the bin corner as I wasn't psychic and I informed this employee that his manner was threatening, aggressive and obscene. The employee again replied, I don't F****** care, I'm F***** leaving on Saturday". I would strongly advise anyone considering visiting this establishment to stay well clear until the manager can reassure the public that this man has indeed left the hotel. Mr, A Major, Dr, H Habibi

We had our Christmas lunch here, The chef created a perfect Christmas lunch! A good time was had by all. We usually get the fish and chips (best chips I've ever had) And I know from experience that they have the best flat white inside 15 miles or so - I'm still taste testing to a radius of 40 miles. Plenty of parking, no potholes, and of course, a gorgeous view and a warm fire. Mind you, there are about 8 miles of a one lane road, so a) know how to reverse, and b) its a ood idea to let people behind you pass so they can show you how to avoid hitting every pothole to the RaBT. Right now there are two convoy controlled road works and I think there will be at least 1 set for 2 more more years. Everyone seems to enjoy drinking here, it's at the heart of the village. Dog friendly. Best to reserve a table for dinner.

Outstanding burger and fries made with real potatoes! No wonder there always a queue. Great cakes. Order at the horse box and find a table. The service is pretty speedy.

What an earth has happened to this restaurant. 45 mins for first drink then half a bowl of soup, 2 little slices garlic bread £3.95. Main meal 1 was missed other one went back because of allergy which waiter was told of kitchen then scraped sauce off which was useless when it came back other meal was stone cold. In total over 2 hours for a restaurant half empty manager was told said he was "new" which he told us 6 weeks ago when our meal was an even worse disaster. Thought we would give them a chance whoever chef is needs replaced such a shame was a great place at one time heard loads of complaints from other people definitely wont be back

The owners/managers went out of their way to accommodate us during the recent power cuts from storm Eowyn. Beautiful property, well-appointed rooms, and service second to none. Will definitely recommend the Royal Marine for friends and family visiting Dunoon.

I was served haggis on a vegetarian breakfast & staff were absolutely not fussed. They had to be prompted by me to take my food meal off the bill, didn't offer any sort of explanation/resolution. They advertise that they have vegan options, but don't have basic things like non dairy milk available. I honestly think Butlins in the 1980s would have fared better.

I was in need of lunch today. I was passing through the area and this place looked inviting from the outside. However, everything inside was horribly disappointing. I read a notice which informed me that I should order my food at the post office which was at the back of a shop - the restaurant was in a section to the right. It was cold, lacked any atmosphere and apart from two customers it was empty. I checked the menu, there was a plethora of rolls and sandwiches listed, but apart from that, there was soup, or fish and chips. I went to the post office and asked for the fish and chips and was told by a very unfriendly person that they couldn't do that because they were not putting on the fryer. So I went back to the restaurant and checked over the menu again. I chose a simple cheese and onion toastie. When it arrived, it looked very unappetising, and had no garnish at all. It was utterly tasteless, chewy plastic cheese and even the onions had no flavour. How is that possible? It was completely inedible and I left most of it on the plate. I paid £9.70p for the toastie and a pot of tea for one. On the menu the toastie was priced at £4.45 and the tea was £3.35. So I was OVERCHARGED into the bargain. Don't try it unless desperation is pushing you.
