Visited on Sunday 22nd, and it was busy but not completely packed. Food was great not too expensive, but service seriously let it down. When seated at table, young lady was ready to take our order only to be cut off by a young boy telling her no, leave it for now. Got drink and around 20min later she came and took order. After main meal was advised to keep my napkins as she might forget to bring any more ..really!! Ordered drinks, after 25min asked if we were getting them as young barmaid spent the whole time flirting with locals at the bar!! Apparently our drink order did not get put through and i had to clear the table of previous glasses as barmaid just dumped new drinks and left empties on table. Took another 20min to be asked if we wanted dessert which was served cold even though it was HOT chocolate fudge cake and sticky toffee pudding, decided to leave as could be bothered waiting for ages for another drink! Staff were pleasant but service totally ruined the meal.

We came here for an evening meal, all in all a decent experience. Restaurant was relatively quiet for a Friday evening but then again it is in a very secluded area. Not many other food options around. The young lad serving us was brilliant, very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. We both cleared our plates but that isn't unusual for us! In all honesty it felt a bit overpriced for what we had but we had been swayed by the specials without knowing the prices so that probably didn't help. We were served super quickly and managed a 3 course meal in less than an hour which some people may not like but we didn't mind. You definitely could ask for a rest between courses. Pub itself looks newly decorated inside and as mentioned service was good but we wouldn't rush back.

When we booked we were looking forward to it but we were disappointed as we had a dog with us don't think we got the same service as in the main restaurant. We booked a second night and when we finally got the menu it was different from the first time as there was a lot more pages. We booked for 8 o'clock didn't get the menu until 8/30 . service was very slow as we were in the dog friendly part I think they just forgot about us. And when the food came my wife's MC and cheese was very disappointing. It was our last night so just payed the bill and left. As a chef just retired my wife is spoilt when it comes to food And expects the same quality as she is used to..

We got such a lovely welcome this evening here even though we were half an hour late due to a delayed ferry from Islay. Paul, the waiter, was so friendly and efficient, he sat us down with a menu and drinks and made us feel very welcome. We chose quickly as the kitchen was about to close. Sharing a starter of scallops, (I wished I wasn’t sharing!). They were delicious, fresh and perfectly cooked. We both had the lamb pie for main. The lamb filling was absolutely delicious. A puff pastry top (to me is not a pie) but it was crispy so I was happy. The vegetables were also gorgeous. We shared a Sticky toffee pudding. It was also really good. After a very stressful drive from the ferry terminal to get here in time for last serving of food this was such a fabulous experience. Highly recommend. It’s also in a wonderful position at the head of the loch.

We recently visited The Goil Inn restaurant whilst on a short break to Lochgoilhead. It was a short 10 minute walk from the nearby holiday park we were staying at. Beautiful location with lovely views. There were 4 of us and we had lunch there 2 days in a row. On arrival we were greeted by the very welcoming staff, our server was Ian on both days and he was very attentive and service was second to none. Between us we ordered 2 haggis bon bons and soup, followed by the pie of the day (which was lamb and veg) x 2 with chips and veg, steak ciabatta and chicken & bacon ranch ciabatta both served with crisps but we ordered fries with it as well. A side of pigs in blankets, and 2 of us then had the vanilla cheesecake for dessert and 3/4 rounds of drinks. The portions were very generous. The next day we went down for the Sunday roast which was a choice of beef or gammon, served with a yorkshire pudding, veg and potatoes. The quality of the food on both days was very high and cooked to perfection. Would recommend the Goil Inn restaurant to anyone coming to the area as you will not be disappointed.

We live locally, go for dinner regularly. Today we had the usual amazing service. Attentive and friendly. 2 kids meals plenty to fill hungry tummies. Good starters of smoked salmon and a honey baked camembert, both with lovely crunchy crossing. Special lamb main was enjoyed by the hubby, potatoes were fab. Fish pie was ok. The fish was totally lost in the amount of sauce. Big, chunky pieces would have been lovely, instead I was trying to fork through to find little pieces of salmon. No need to put peas in a fish pie. Puddings of kids brownies and and apple tart for the adults were well received.

Lochgoilhead is a lovely location and the Goil Inn has friendly staff and very nice but plain food. For regular vistors like me the fact that it is dog friendly is a major bonus. The dogs help informality by getting cutomers talking to each other. Beer is a bit overpriced.

We went in to eat on a Friday night to find that the restaurant only served the same pub grub as the bar. Having been here a good few years ago, the food was lovely and whilst the pub grub was okay and the staff very attentive and friendly, the majority of the food appeared to be bought in and mainly fried on site. I asked for my fish in my fish and chips to be breaded rather than battered but the chef was unable to do this! I then changed to Scampi which was breaded. My husband had the Goil burger, which he said was very tasty, but was charged 10p extra for a slice of cheese.

Was expecting great quality fresh food . But very disappointed . Looking forward to local mussels but off the menu . Scallops were fresh but the sauce let it down and the bread was stale and expensive . Both in the end had fish and chips , that was two very small pieces of fish each , couldn't hardly see any fish , most likely frozen due to the texture and appearance . Staff were excellent and beer was good

The hotel is an experience. The food is wonderful the beds comfortable and the cosy. Great place to stay for visits to the island. Looking forward to a visit in the summer. PLEASE finish the residents lounge.

I am giving you an excellent review based on previous visits but arrived Thursday 14th November at 11:15 and it was closed. Website says open at 10:00 and opening time on door says 10:30. Several people left disappointed during my 20min seat on bench. Off to Port Bannatyne for my brunch. Can you update your opening hours on door and social media platforms.

What an absolute find. This place was amazing in every way. The staff are welcoming, friendly and so attentive. The food was out of this world. Would definitely recommend 100% and will be back. Just wish we had found it at the start of our holiday and not at the end

Met up with a friend for lunch today. ALWAYS reliably happy with our meals at The Esplanade over the many years.... But today's young chef was very astute with his skills. We had *Cullen skink, the baguette was fresh and warmed....so often it is not; (it's the little things like this that make you come back,), *fish n chips, and *incredibly chunky steak pie, with a lid rising up to the ceiling I'm my opinion all 3 meals really were the best examples on the island. Well done to: *The Esplanade for keeping up the standards of quality which bring people back * The Chef * The always friendly and helpful waitress 😁 (Love the new curtains and furnishings 😁)
