The best restaurants in Monifieth and Sidlaw Angus Central Scotland

First time attending Monifieth Farm with my family. Food and service was brilliant, was served by Summer who was a delight the whole time Highly recommend

My wife and I enjoyed our evening meal. Received a warm welcome from the staff. Meals were served 10/15 minutes after ordering. A big improvement from last year. Will definitely return, many thanks.

So glad we didn’t read some of these reviews before we went or might not have bothered. After a google search of places to eat “near me” the Speckled Hen came up. We loved it. Nice area, lovely views. Big open airy restaurant. Nothing fancy but clean and homely feel. Lovely selection of homemade sandwiches, cakes etc. My other half had bacon and egg roll which was delivered in a large roll with plenty filling while I had soup n sandwich. Salad and coleslaw with sandwich which was fresh and tasty. Delicious! The waitress also did the cooking so realised it may take longer to arrive than other places but was well worth the wait. Very relaxed and enjoyable. Service was lovely and other half saying he will be back with work colleagues!

Please avoid this restaurant and go to the nearest from here, they stopped serving high quality food after the fire, he ordered multiple times since and all orders have been of poor quality or wrong

Think this place changed ownership now called monifish. It serves a wide variety takeaway good which is mainly cooked to order. My small fish supper was really good crispy fish and loads of non greasy chips hubby had spicy haggis and really enjoyed nice and peppery. The staff are really nice and I would recommend this shop.

Ordered 2 pancake rolls and a special chow mein. The pancake rolls had zero flavour or seasoning and the bean sprouts were vastly undercooked . Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse , we opened the chow mein. It smelled old and had a weird taste , just awful and pretty disgusting. We could not trust it so it went straight in the bin. 1 star is generous We will never be back

Asked if they did chips and gravy lady was very friendly and kind. She said they don’t do it but she went ahead and got me it anyway which made my day so thankyou dobbies! My mum had a cake and tea and seemed to be happy with hers accept she mentioned it was a bit pricey apart from that we enjoyed our visit today.

I was really hoping the lower scoring reviews were going to be wrong but they just aren't. We were told upon arriving there was no steaks, which half of our 12 person party were wanting. 20 mins for a drinks order so we elected to order food along with the drinks order. Starters left alot to be desired. Prawn cocktail was awful and the garlic bread was completely overpowering. Steak pie came with frozen veg which has gone cold. Pie itself was edible, mash was fine. Another person chose to have theirs with potatoes and these were undercooked. Someone was told they didn't have the belly pork right as we had just finished the starters too so they had to order again. Just awful and because of the experience and food quality, really poor value for money also.
