The food was what you would expect from a Brewers Fayre. The staff were friendly and attentive. The place was empty, hence the score for atmosphere. We'd definitely go back.

We had a lovely post Christmas luncheon here recently and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our visit . The food was delicious , served by charming staff . Michael Farmer ( Manager ) is outstanding in his approach and nothing was too much trouble . His professionalism and charming disposition are to be highly commended .

Came here as a family and was truly looked after big shout out to the manager he delivers a great service and we will be returning again and will be recommending visiting here to friends and family 😁

Had a great Boxing Day meal. Bit of a last minute booking, but they weren't busy. Excellent service, food was prompt and delicious and good value. Can't complain at all, really, what a good team and nice evening out. Thanks very much 😊

visited when under new management. Change in atmosphere and staff attention was excellent. Service was very good. Great news the toilet door in the ladies has been repaired after years of being unlockable. Will advise other patrons who have stopped visiting under the management of Kurt return.

It takes a lot for me to complain, but this was up there with the worst food I've had. Now I know Brewers fayre isn't 5 star al'carte, but this was bad. I ordered the meal deal for the evening meal, chicken wings, and rump steak (medium). The wings came out stuck together and were still cold inside, so they were obviously frozen, and the bbq sauce was also cold. I sent it back and said, "Can I skip the starter and just bring the steak". The steak came out and looked as though it had been frying for a week. Dry as a bone. The plate was full of water from the peas which hadnt been drained off and the chips looked as though theyd been reheated 4000 times. I ate the steak and when asked if was everything ok, I replied not really to which a blank response returned. The following morning I came down hoping breakfast would be slightly better but how wrong was I. I ordered a full english all the mashings. It came out from the kitchen in less than a minute. Beans and sausage were stone cold. Hash browns soggy. Bacon wasnt cooked. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place for food.

Lovely place to pop in and have a safe indoor play area with coffee and tea close by.

Table of 5, 4 adults 1 child. Ordered from the new festive menu. Original order of turkey and bacon nachos was missing items (turkey and bacon) but was fixed quite quickly. Wasn't very good though. Two ordered tomato soup, soup was cold/luke warm and missing croutons. Prawn cocktail was good. Pigs in blankets, also good and piping hot. Festive stack burger, an acquired taste with the cranberry sauce on there. Not for me, was also not very hot. Chips were fine as well as the gravy Steak cooked really well (rare) Turkey and trimmings also fine. Desserts were good, brownie was nice (warm/crispy) with the ice cream and the profiteroles got a big thumbs up. Overall it's poor. Not worth the money. With drinks for the 4 adults and child it was around £120. Far better options for this price in the near by area. Place has a lot of potential but doesn't do much with it. No music/noise for any sort of atmosphere, staff are great, friendly and constantly on the move and willing to help, but that doesn't make up for the poor quality of food being put out.

It genuinely was the worst meal I’ve ever received. I know it’s cheap but the nachos was disgusting it was meant to have beef chilli on it and it was just a watery sauce. The main was steak like and it had a massive lump of fat sitting on the top. The chips shouldn’t be served they were covered in black from what could only be very dirt and unclean fryer's. When asked about the black stuff the waiter tried to say it was chips on the chips the worst explanation I’ve heard. The worse restaurant I’ve ever come across.

Awful experience tonight. The place was cold, dark and nearly empty on a Saturday night. The starters arrived and one of them was cold. The kids meal arrived and the fries looked like they had been cracked black peppered. Strange for a kids meal but never mind. Then the mains arrived for the adults and all meals had these black speckled fries. Asked the waiter what it was and he said oh it’s just from the fryers. Think a good scrape and scrub of them is required along with an immediate oil change. I ordered 2 fish and chips, only one arrived as only one had been put through. These things can happen I understand that but one person left with no food at a party of 8 isn’t ideal. They did resolve this fairly quickly free of charge. The fish still had skin on it underneath the batter which was odd in my opinion as I feel this is an acquired taste. As a result the 3 people who ordered it left most of their meal as they were put off. You pay upfront at these type of places so it’s not as if we’ve went ordered food and then ripped everything to bits in hope of a discount or freebie. We just got up and left after this didn’t bother waiting for the kids dessert we paid for. It’s a shame that this is the level (or lack of) care that is taken in delivering the product. Hospitality venues are closing daily so I suspect this one won’t be far off if customer numbers are dwindling. We were at table 16/17 around 8pm.

Coleslaw was missing from our meal chips were warm not hot. Our table was set but it was dirty it was also very dark as bulb above our table was out.

Extremely disappointing. Called to book a table for the Sunday roast at about 3:30/4pm and asked specifically for the carvery to be told on arrival it finished early at 3pm. Before I ever called and I was not told anything on the phone. Disappointed we ended up staying and ording stake pie and a burger, the place was dead, hardly anyone there apart from a few tables with kids running all over the place screaming with no supervision (understanding that's not the restaurants fault) it took staggering 45 minutes at which point we were about to leave our surprisingly sticky table. For the stake pie to be small and hardly any meat in it and the pasty hard as a rock and the burger unseasoned and bland. Inedible onion rings and potato dipper things that ended up just being chips with a chunky looking sour cream. However, I'm happy that the katsu loaded fries were really good. The server was not surprised or even sorry when I mentioned the time we were waiting to him and seems not to care in the slightest. I had to ask for cutlery and go back to the bar for napkins and none were given. We over heard the lady behind the desk, who was quiet nice compared the the restaurant, say to a couple walking in that they wernt taking anymore people for food because of staffing issues at about 5:30/6pm? A couple close to us also had the same issue and wernt to happy with the quality of food mentioning they would take most of it home for the dog. It's a shame I used to love this place when I was younger and it's gone so down hill it's sad to see it's got this bad. Will not be returning and would definitely not recommend. Extremely disappointed for £50 worth of food.

Come here so many times to have lunch and use the soft play area which is never open for the kids. Almost weekly the soft play area is closed. So disappointing.

Came here on a Sunday for the carvery. It was excellent and we all enjoyed it. The gammon especially just melted in the mouth. Well done to your team.

Pre paid for breakfast to be greeted with a huge sign stating closed Monday Tuesday and still says open on website, shocking

Ordered the larger beef burger and the carvery. Both of us enjoyed our meals, waitress was attentive, lady behind the bar / payment point, didn’t listen to most of the information conveyed during ordering and after payment, thus the lower scoring. Recommend for a meal. Look out for website offers.

The food was lovely I would definitely recommend this restaurant . Great location.

My husband and myself booked into the premier inn next door to the restaurant we went in for food I ordered a steak & ale pie my husband had fish pie. When it arrived my steak pie was a very small very hard pastry pie not the size I expected for £12.50. My husbands fish pie was on its own with just a small amount of peas also over £12. We moved table after we had eaten to the bar area to have drinks. The bar for very noisy with unattended children running around screaming and shouting with no parents with them, staff did nothing about this. Most times when my husband went to the bar there was no-one there he had to go find them. With us being guests at the hotel we thought we would be able to stay in the bar till midnight but we were politely asked to leave at 10.30 as they were closing the bar. In the morning for breakfast we went in and waited to be seated as we had pre- booked our breakfast but no-one was there only a cleaner hoovering. We asked her to go get someone and just then the barmaid/waitress appeared, she said to sit anywhere and she would come take our order . I had to go look for her again only to be told it would be a hot buffet breakfast and it was only been cooked. It was disorganised chaos. There was also a childrens party going on at 10am in the morning & this was the reason the staff were not where they should be. Maybe separate staff should be hired for the soft play so that other staff can attend to paying customers. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Came with my husband and mother. She had experienced the lasagne on a previous visit so she knew she wanted it again. My husband loved the stack burger and I had a curry. All the girls were amazing very attentive. Would definitely come back again.

Not sure how this place remains open after so many years. Incredibly poor. From the wait to order your food, to the wait to get your food to the absolutely manky microwaved servings that are put in front of you... Every single dish cold with 8 plates delivered over the course of 40 minutes. If it wasn't for the soft play bit they'd be out of of business for sure.

Lovely food and drinks. Good prices. Family outing of 7. Fitted us in at last minute. Can't really fault it, just a bit lacking in atmosphere. Wouldn't stop us going back there. Enjoyed it.

Lovely hot meal ,friendly helpful staff

My wife and I have dined here many times over the years and rarely been disappointed, unfortunately yesterday was different. We waited 45 minutes for our main course which strangely enough was mostly cold when it arrived and some items missing, the waitress was unaware what should have been on one plate. A disappointing experience which we will not risk repeating.

Great value tasty food and child friendly. Service good and staff lovely, especially Nicole who arranged for another meal to come for my little one after I mistakenly ordered the wrong thing. Thanks.

Booked for between 40-50 people and entire section for a social event. Great drinks, service and burgers were really nice for the price. The service from Lara, Louise and Kirsten in particular was great. Friendly, bar not busy and quick service, food quite quick & also kids loved the soft play area, we stayed for 5 hours & will be back again!!

Such a shame the systems for orders etc weren't working as this caused staff hassle. Also no idea why you can't keep the lunch deals on over Easter as saves families a bit of money. Food was nice, could have been hotter.

Friendly staff and delicious food.

We were there for a day event. The staff were very friendly (thanks, Lara, Louise and Kirsten), the service was very prompt, and the food was decent - I had the lasagne. With free refills on soft drinks and coffee, it was good value for money too.

No food, wee only went to soft play

Went in for Mothers Day the food on Arrival was cold and this resulted in the whole family not being well after.Did not taste right and we have had better from other places and a lot hotter. Shame in the right hands in my opinion this could be a little gold mine.By reading other reviews and the way other customers have been treated this needs to be addressed ............

Have just left after all I can say was a very disappointing meal. Waited 45 minutes on our meal, which consisted of chips that were covered in little black bits (oil needing changed) and cold, mushy peas cold, fish batter also covered in little black bits and very overcooked . Overall not a nice meal. Staff didn’t come and apologise for the wait, (other people were told sorry for your wait) or ask how our meal was . Didn’t complain basically because there was no point and very little staff on duty . Definitely won’t be back .

Lovely food served quickly and by very nice people.

Although the restaurant was quiet, we were kept waiting at the “wait here to be seated sign” for some time although we could be seen by staff behind the bar. We then received what could only be described as a lacklustre welcome by the carvery carver/chef…? We came especially to try the Carvery and the turkey itself was nice, but all the sides on the carvery deck (except for the gravy which was tasty), were of poor quality and only just warm rather than hot. The roast potatoes in particular, (which are usually the star part of a carvery meal), looked like really poor quality supermarket frozen ones… Very disappointing. We didn’t complain because what’s the point. Would they have been able to produce anything better if we had? Doubtful. Based on this visit I wouldn’t recommend the Monifieth Farm Brewers Fayre and definitely won’t be eating here again. We only decided to try this restaurant because we had such a great experience on Christmas Day at their Scarborough restaurant which was fantastic.

Nice place. but rather let down several things not available on menu concidering it was only 6pm this has happened before needs to be looked at.

Good place for a meal and very reasonable price

It was a quiet Saturday night but the food came quickly, was reasonably priced and tasty. Grwat service. No complaints

It was a complete shambles. Table booked for 4pm, still waiting at 5.30 to be served. They ran out of meat & another joint of meat was raw in the middle. Staff were in tears as everyone was complaining. Not a good Christmas day dinner at all. Everyone in there was complaining, felt so sorry for the staff

Good busy place before covid. Since then it’s went right downhill place was empty when we arrived after being seated and waiting about 20 mins for a waiter/waitress I ended up having to go and look for one then eventually got our food then to be told we had about 20 mins left till breakfast finished in other words hurry up won’t be in a hurry to come back here

We were seated in an area where we could hear two different lots of music. The food was awful, the mash potatoes were dried out, the pastry for the steak pie was hard. The portion of chips were cold. I'm glad I ordered the vegetarian lasagne option because it was not up to temperature in the middle. I will not be visiting this Brewers Fayre again and would not recommend.

This was for Christmas dinner, 25th of december. I have one word for this experience. Terrible. My grandma booked a table months in advance for a wheelchair user. Once we arrived we were told we had to sit up the stairs. How do they expect a wheelchair user to climb up stairs. We then got told we could move but only had 2 hours. Then the starters came and there was hardly any sauce for the prawn cocktail. Desserts took 45 minutes and by this time my father and brother( the wheelchair user) had to leave as the atmosphere was hectic and not well organized. They then brought out my fathers ‘traditional christmas pudding’ which is shown in the picture i provided, to take home. Considering we paid a high price for something that looks like it’s out of aldi is very disappointing. No refund was offered. The only good thing was the waitress who was trying her best and was helpful. So to sum this up Our Christmas dinner was ruined, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Extremely Disappointed.

Lovely place for a family meal, good food, good service and there's usually offers/coupons so it's one of the more affordable places for dining out.

Always great deals offered and service. We were supported by Alex today who was efficient and supportive when my item wasn’t available. I was able to opt for any alternative off the main menu and he checked in with us afterwards to make sure everything was ok. Alex was friendly and always served with a smile! 👍🏻

Louise and her team have accomodated me to the highest standard for a personal situation. The service was lovely, caring and understanding. Food was good. Had a mixed grill and my daughter had pizza chips and beans. We both ate the whole thing. They also allowed me to bring my own christmas tree and put my own gifts underneath it and went the extra mile. So i really appreciated that they were able to accomodate my needs and be so understanding about it. So a big massive thank you again. I look forward to seeing your lovely wee faces agaain in the new year. :) xx

Food was very cold and could not eat , got offered a free pudding though, Would have been better being offered to put into a microwave for a few mins so it could be eaten.

Disappointing. Could book a table online for 5 people for 10 minutes away, but server said they wouldn't give us a table for 45 minutes as they were "too understaffed".

The food was good, and we waited about 20min, was not really all that hot which disappointing, we ordered sweet at the same time and expected after we finished eating but nearly 30 minutes later I had to go and ask where they were and being disabled it was a struggle, apparently someone had thrown away out ticket, or was that the excuse for "ooppss we forgot about you as we were to busy chatting at the bar" Portlethen Brewster is a lot better.

Awful. Just awful. No steaks (we don't have the staff). No chicken (our grill isn't working). No haddock (on the menu). (But we do have pollock (not on the menu)). Honestly, this place has dropped off the scale! Avoid. We left without placing an order and I will not be returning.

We went in at 2 min to 11 as the snow really got bad after taking my great grandaughter to see Santa and they were clearing away breakfast as to rearrange for lunch at 12 but Aimee,& Victoria went above and beyond to serve us a full breakfast also made sure we had cereal fresh orange and toast to top it all we even had access to the play area I can’t thank those two girls enough for their hospitality the went above and beyond I visit this same place on a few occasions and have never been served by those two girls before but would visit there every other day if I was served by those two wonderful girls

It is a disappointment when you see a plate of food and know you could of easily done better, at less cost. Firstly to say the service was excellent, but it didn't make up for the food. Well I returned here again after a first disappointing rated post. Now my wife and grandchildren have jumped on the bandwagon and said they don't want to eat here again. Even with the £4.50 charged childrens play area it's sunk further. The Xmas garlic bread had no taste, was only toasted on one side and like the worst dough possible. The pieces of sweetcorn were cold. I enjoyed my beef lasagne but all else fell short. Try another place is my advice.

Pleasant meal and coffee with friends

Arrived yesterday so the first meal was in the evening, first of all my wife has allergies and was promised the allergy fold which never arrived so she had to look it up for herself then one of the meals was cold and although replace the service from a time point of view wasn’t great. The breakfast on the other hand made up for it with great service and great food

A little dissappointed to be honest. The Breakfast was cold served on cold plates. One hash brown was crispy with a soft centre , the other one was as hard as a rock.We were told only 5 people were getting breakfast this morning which begs the question if you cant get it right for small numbers whats the quality like with a high volume.

I been here a couple of times & it's always out of something & by something I mean half the menu, last time was no ribs, no beef burgers of any description & no gas for draught beer, staff were friendly enough but there the only redeeming factor tbh

Terrible! Next to nothing on the menu was available and despite being a Sunday the roast was unavailable also. We were served by a young girl with a lollipop in her mouth and from start to finish it was stinking.

Kurt seated us at the door was lovely and polite. He asked about allergies and intolerances and was very quick to offer supplements to our allergy. The food was lovely and the place was clean and tidy

We visited a number of times between 21 and 25 September for breakfast and dinner. We were staying at the Premier Inn beside it. Overall our experience was very good. Despite being understaffed due to sickness the staff coped very well and produced some lovely food...especially a steak which was very nice! At the time we visited they were working on a reduced menu but we were still able to find plenty of dishes we liked. Good place and well done to the staff

Great place for a family breakfast, Our group of 8 arrived today (12/08) at 10:00 without a booking and were very quickly seated, staff were attentive and great with the kids.. Very good value for money too..

Kirsten our server was very pleasant and hard working as was Lara she is a real asset to the restaurant Louise was also kept busy. Food was very nice. The female servers seem to work harder than the male server could learn a lot from them.

It's ok I suppose but high prices for reheated average quality food

Very disappointed with our first (& last) visit. Staff not very interested, waited over an hour for 2 kids meals which twice we asked about, the food was nothing special and also stone cold! We ate what we could and left. No staff came anywhere near us during our stay, a truly disappointing experience all round, I'm sorry we won't be back.

Run out of a lot items on the menu didn't eat there in the end, carvery looked ok.

I delivered six Amazon parcels to the Amazon Hub at the Monifieth Farm, never went inside but they get five stars anyway.

Food was good, service was good, and perfect play area for kids to keep them entertained
