Monifieth Farm Brewers Fayre in Angus

Lovely hot meal ,friendly helpful staff

My wife and I have dined here many times over the years and rarely been disappointed, unfortunately yesterday was different. We waited 45 minutes for our main course which strangely enough was mostly cold when it arrived and some items missing, the waitress was unaware what should have been on one plate. A disappointing experience which we will not risk repeating.

Great value tasty food and child friendly. Service good and staff lovely, especially Nicole who arranged for another meal to come for my little one after I mistakenly ordered the wrong thing. Thanks.

Booked for between 40-50 people and entire section for a social event. Great drinks, service and burgers were really nice for the price. The service from Lara, Louise and Kirsten in particular was great. Friendly, bar not busy and quick service, food quite quick & also kids loved the soft play area, we stayed for 5 hours & will be back again!!

Food was amazing staff are very welcoming and the waitress paige was polite and friendly who served us highly recommended

Such a shame the systems for orders etc weren't working as this caused staff hassle. Also no idea why you can't keep the lunch deals on over Easter as saves families a bit of money. Food was nice, could have been hotter.

Friendly staff and delicious food.

We were there for a day event. The staff were very friendly (thanks, Lara, Louise and Kirsten), the service was very prompt, and the food was decent - I had the lasagne. With free refills on soft drinks and coffee, it was good value for money too.

No food, wee only went to soft play

Went in for Mothers Day the food on Arrival was cold and this resulted in the whole family not being well after.Did not taste right and we have had better from other places and a lot hotter. Shame in the right hands in my opinion this could be a little gold mine.By reading other reviews and the way other customers have been treated this needs to be addressed ............

Have just left after all I can say was a very disappointing meal. Waited 45 minutes on our meal, which consisted of chips that were covered in little black bits (oil needing changed) and cold, mushy peas cold, fish batter also covered in little black bits and very overcooked . Overall not a nice meal. Staff didn’t come and apologise for the wait, (other people were told sorry for your wait) or ask how our meal was . Didn’t complain basically because there was no point and very little staff on duty . Definitely won’t be back .

Nice place. but rather let down several things not available on menu concidering it was only 6pm this has happened before needs to be looked at.

Although the restaurant was quiet, we were kept waiting at the “wait here to be seated sign” for some time although we could be seen by staff behind the bar. We then received what could only be described as a lacklustre welcome by the carvery carver/chef…? We came especially to try the Carvery and the turkey itself was nice, but all the sides on the carvery deck (except for the gravy which was tasty), were of poor quality and only just warm rather than hot. The roast potatoes in particular, (which are usually the star part of a carvery meal), looked like really poor quality supermarket frozen ones… Very disappointing. We didn’t complain because what’s the point. Would they have been able to produce anything better if we had? Doubtful. Based on this visit I wouldn’t recommend the Monifieth Farm Brewers Fayre and definitely won’t be eating here again. We only decided to try this restaurant because we had such a great experience on Christmas Day at their Scarborough restaurant which was fantastic.

Good place for a meal and very reasonable price

It was a quiet Saturday night but the food came quickly, was reasonably priced and tasty. Grwat service. No complaints

It was a complete shambles. Table booked for 4pm, still waiting at 5.30 to be served. They ran out of meat & another joint of meat was raw in the middle. Staff were in tears as everyone was complaining. Not a good Christmas day dinner at all. Everyone in there was complaining, felt so sorry for the staff

Only based on last visit. Service with an attitude after complaining about barbecue sauce.

Food was average but felt let down by unruly children running around restaurant being rude to customers and constantly scresming

Good busy place before covid. Since then it’s went right downhill place was empty when we arrived after being seated and waiting about 20 mins for a waiter/waitress I ended up having to go and look for one then eventually got our food then to be told we had about 20 mins left till breakfast finished in other words hurry up won’t be in a hurry to come back here

We were seated in an area where we could hear two different lots of music. The food was awful, the mash potatoes were dried out, the pastry for the steak pie was hard. The portion of chips were cold. I'm glad I ordered the vegetarian lasagne option because it was not up to temperature in the middle. I will not be visiting this Brewers Fayre again and would not recommend.

This was for Christmas dinner, 25th of december. I have one word for this experience. Terrible. My grandma booked a table months in advance for a wheelchair user. Once we arrived we were told we had to sit up the stairs. How do they expect a wheelchair user to climb up stairs. We then got told we could move but only had 2 hours. Then the starters came and there was hardly any sauce for the prawn cocktail. Desserts took 45 minutes and by this time my father and brother( the wheelchair user) had to leave as the atmosphere was hectic and not well organized. They then brought out my fathers ‘traditional christmas pudding’ which is shown in the picture i provided, to take home. Considering we paid a high price for something that looks like it’s out of aldi is very disappointing. No refund was offered. The only good thing was the waitress who was trying her best and was helpful. So to sum this up Our Christmas dinner was ruined, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Extremely Disappointed.

Lovely place for a family meal, good food, good service and there's usually offers/coupons so it's one of the more affordable places for dining out.

Always great deals offered and service. We were supported by Alex today who was efficient and supportive when my item wasn’t available. I was able to opt for any alternative off the main menu and he checked in with us afterwards to make sure everything was ok. Alex was friendly and always served with a smile! 👍🏻

Had a lovely xmas dinner today, Victoria our waitress was brilliant. Well done to each and everyone of you for the great service and making xmas more enjoyable.

Louise and her team have accomodated me to the highest standard for a personal situation. The service was lovely, caring and understanding. Food was good. Had a mixed grill and my daughter had pizza chips and beans. We both ate the whole thing. They also allowed me to bring my own christmas tree and put my own gifts underneath it and went the extra mile. So i really appreciated that they were able to accomodate my needs and be so understanding about it. So a big massive thank you again. I look forward to seeing your lovely wee faces agaain in the new year. :) xx

Food was very cold and could not eat , got offered a free pudding though, Would have been better being offered to put into a microwave for a few mins so it could be eaten.

Disappointing. Could book a table online for 5 people for 10 minutes away, but server said they wouldn't give us a table for 45 minutes as they were "too understaffed".

The food was good, and we waited about 20min, was not really all that hot which disappointing, we ordered sweet at the same time and expected after we finished eating but nearly 30 minutes later I had to go and ask where they were and being disabled it was a struggle, apparently someone had thrown away out ticket, or was that the excuse for "ooppss we forgot about you as we were to busy chatting at the bar" Portlethen Brewster is a lot better.

Awful. Just awful. No steaks (we don't have the staff). No chicken (our grill isn't working). No haddock (on the menu). (But we do have pollock (not on the menu)). Honestly, this place has dropped off the scale! Avoid. We left without placing an order and I will not be returning.

We went in at 2 min to 11 as the snow really got bad after taking my great grandaughter to see Santa and they were clearing away breakfast as to rearrange for lunch at 12 but Aimee,& Victoria went above and beyond to serve us a full breakfast also made sure we had cereal fresh orange and toast to top it all we even had access to the play area I can’t thank those two girls enough for their hospitality the went above and beyond I visit this same place on a few occasions and have never been served by those two girls before but would visit there every other day if I was served by those two wonderful girls

It is a disappointment when you see a plate of food and know you could of easily done better, at less cost. Firstly to say the service was excellent, but it didn't make up for the food. Well I returned here again after a first disappointing rated post. Now my wife and grandchildren have jumped on the bandwagon and said they don't want to eat here again. Even with the £4.50 charged childrens play area it's sunk further. The Xmas garlic bread had no taste, was only toasted on one side and like the worst dough possible. The pieces of sweetcorn were cold. I enjoyed my beef lasagne but all else fell short. Try another place is my advice.

Pleasant meal and coffee with friends

Arrived yesterday so the first meal was in the evening, first of all my wife has allergies and was promised the allergy fold which never arrived so she had to look it up for herself then one of the meals was cold and although replace the service from a time point of view wasn’t great. The breakfast on the other hand made up for it with great service and great food

A little dissappointed to be honest. The Breakfast was cold served on cold plates. One hash brown was crispy with a soft centre , the other one was as hard as a rock.We were told only 5 people were getting breakfast this morning which begs the question if you cant get it right for small numbers whats the quality like with a high volume.

I been here a couple of times & it's always out of something & by something I mean half the menu, last time was no ribs, no beef burgers of any description & no gas for draught beer, staff were friendly enough but there the only redeeming factor tbh

Terrible! Next to nothing on the menu was available and despite being a Sunday the roast was unavailable also. We were served by a young girl with a lollipop in her mouth and from start to finish it was stinking.

Kurt seated us at the door was lovely and polite. He asked about allergies and intolerances and was very quick to offer supplements to our allergy. The food was lovely and the place was clean and tidy

We visited a number of times between 21 and 25 September for breakfast and dinner. We were staying at the Premier Inn beside it. Overall our experience was very good. Despite being understaffed due to sickness the staff coped very well and produced some lovely food...especially a steak which was very nice! At the time we visited they were working on a reduced menu but we were still able to find plenty of dishes we liked. Good place and well done to the staff

Nice quiet restaurant, especially as the children's play centre is closed.

Waited ages defore being seated service was 0 and when eventually put order in was then told no fish as they ran out would not go back disappointed

We came on a Sunday which was a bit quiet but that's all right nice family dinner took our orders at the bar the carvery wasn't full swing food was delicious had a nice time staff were very polite and courteous

Great place for a family breakfast, Our group of 8 arrived today (12/08) at 10:00 without a booking and were very quickly seated, staff were attentive and great with the kids.. Very good value for money too..

Kirsten our server was very pleasant and hard working as was Lara she is a real asset to the restaurant Louise was also kept busy. Food was very nice. The female servers seem to work harder than the male server could learn a lot from them.

It's ok I suppose but high prices for reheated average quality food

Very disappointed with our first (& last) visit. Staff not very interested, waited over an hour for 2 kids meals which twice we asked about, the food was nothing special and also stone cold! We ate what we could and left. No staff came anywhere near us during our stay, a truly disappointing experience all round, I'm sorry we won't be back.

Run out of a lot items on the menu didn't eat there in the end, carvery looked ok.

I delivered six Amazon parcels to the Amazon Hub at the Monifieth Farm, never went inside but they get five stars anyway.

As I can think of nothing positive say rather than rant about my personal opinion I will only say find somewhere else to stop

Food was good, service was good, and perfect play area for kids to keep them entertained

Really slow service not enough staff even though not busy no no help from staff as to why so long to wait , never had a problem at any others

Waited almost an hour for food and when it came order was wrong !

Waited 45 minutes for our meal but they were all served at different times so all in all we waited 1 hour and 2 of the meals were only Nachos. One of the Nacho meals was wrong it came with chilli instead of goujons. When the goujon was served (note goujon not goujons) it was cut up into small pieces like it was for a child. Won't be going back in a hurry unless they change the chef.

Cold food. Very poor service. Banners all around saying wednesday is pie day but no additional pies from normal menu. A very bad experience that I will NEVER REPEAT

Understaffed but the staff they do have are lovely. Food is very basic and portions quite small but it's very fairly priced

We were in the soft play area and Lara was the team member looking after this area. She was professional, helpful and a real credit to the establishment. We will definitely be back

Lots of missing things from menu. Meal arrived and items left off the plate without mentioning it. Guess they were hoping we wouldn't notice.

Excellent lunch, which was most enjoyable. Unreasonably quiet for the time of day, so very relaxing and unrushed, with pleasant and attentive staff. Great value for amazing food. Highly recommended.

Went there for lunch and it was very good, there and the staff were very helpful, I'm a coeliac and they take care about what is in your food, 😊

Loved our meal good service good staff

Food was poor, service good but I won't be visiting again. Been here often but it is extremely variable. Even had food served stone cold. As in, microwave meal that hadn't been heated at all. No matter how bad the food there's never more than an apology.

The tables were sticky. The high chair was sticky. The current menu isn't great. The veggie burger was tiny- looked like a kid's meal. When my dessert came out there were at least 6 custardy fingerprints all around the edges, including one dirty, black one. I sent it back and was refunded as I didn't want to wait another half hour for a replacement, while my family were already eating theirs. I used to love coming here but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back any time soon. The staff were pleasant as always though.

Myself and my wife was staying at the hotel, and booked a table for dinner at 7pm , we placed our order at 7-10pm we got our starters at 7-40 , we then waited and waited , my wife went and spoke to the guy at the bar who said we will sort it, he looked like he really didn't want to be there, we got our meal at 8-30pm, which was a average meal , warm not hot, no apology just plates on table and went, didn't ask do you need sauce or anything. Shocking. Wish we had gone to McDonald's up the road. Won't be back to Monifieth farm in a rush

Only giving 5 stars for the excellent service from a young waitress called Carmen. She was fantastic! Whilst we were there she was managing multiple roles. Serving, taking orders, managing the til, cleaning, and seating people whilst two other members of staff stood around doing absolutely nothing. Not a good look for Brewer's Fayre. Was very frustrating to observe. Food was good. Quick service. Good job, Carmen!

End of my 3 week stay and from the moment I arrived I was made to feel welcome and now at the end feel like part of the family. Staff are all amazing and so helpful and the food is great breakfast and dinner would highly recommend going here for a meal

Amazing staff and amazing food at a very reasonable price!

popped in for lunch when nearby with two friends, seated quickly as wasn't busy, ordered food went to bathroom food was on table when I got back (very quick) sweet potato curry was very nice, my friend ordered the battered haddock and when it arrived it had the skin on one side under the batter, brought it to waitress attention and she apologised and said they where out of haddock and that it is replace with plaice but the would make another and remove the skin, two of us where finished by the time the replacement meal arrived which was very good, overall a good experience but serving staff could have informed at point of ordering that the fish on the menu was replaced by a substitute and that it came with the skin on so it can be requested to be skinned. the tables are a tad shabby with all the numbers missing and the bathroom (male) are very run down with only on sink with a working tap and that tap is very loose.

Very poor selection. They had run out of just about everything. Different staff members gave different reasons for the lack of options. One meal had to be returned to the kitchen as it was cold. Cost of one meal was refunded and I was given a voucher for 25% off our next visit. Probably won't be a next visit!

Restaurant is a brewers fayre , food is good, slow service but the meal deal is well worth it. The hotel is quite dated compared to the other ones that we stayed in and really needs updating soon. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The items we ordered were not available. I don't understand how a restaurant, at lunch time, can't have any fish or chicken. Food that we had was ok but not worth what we paid. The girl working at the till was excellent and trying her best. This place used to be good, not anymore unfortunately.

Service appalling, only one server, food under average would not come back

Cheap and cheerful with a play area for the little ones. Food as expected, decent enough but not a meal you'll rave about. Staff whilst busy, friendly and helpful.

Victoria and Ross at the Disney disco was fabulous they really went the extra mile with all the children so lovely to see these kind of things back at monifieth farm brewers fayre. Will definitely be back.

Never experienced service so slow in my life, food was over cooked and took far too long to arrive, even after asking where it was. Also some incorrect food was brought to table and when the table was being cleared only half of the plates were taken away then forgotten about. This was not our first time here and previously there were no issues, but it’ll probably be our last time here after this appalling service.

Had a meal at pirnhall brewers fayre next to premier inn Stirling South three days ago compared to this one their so far apart regarding quality. Monifieth farm brewers fayre staff and management you were outstanding you could do with teaching pirnhall Brewers fayre a few things.👍👍

I had great experience on my daughter birthday party today and was fabulous perfect atmosphere ,food ,playing for kids and fast service specially that lady called Victoria she was very nice and helofull she kept everything going smoothly and perfect specially first time doing party for my kids and dont know what to do. Thank u Victoria for lovely hospitality and service.
