We arrived & stated we had a table booked. Server don’t ask our name for the booking just sat us down. Ordered food quite quickly and it arrived quickly too. Starters first then mains. There was approx 9 people there including us 2 so not busy at all. Only one person serving and cleaning tables & the same person manning the bar etc. there was a manager there who seemed to just float about. For it being very quiet we were shocked when a woman came in at 8pm looking for a table and was told the kitchen closes at 7.45pm. Surely in todays climate any revenue is better than none? When my partners main course came out it was missing the double up fries he asked for, as soon as we let the server know she got them for him. Overall service was very slow which was strange given how quiet it was. The server dropped a green cleaning cloth on the floor next to our table. Multiple times she stood over it and walked by it instead of picking it up. We ordered deserts which didn’t take long to come. I didn’t finish my chocolate sponge and ice cream because the ice cream had a “off” smell. We paid and left. This is our 3rd time here, would we come back? No probably not. Service very slow after the meals came out. Refusing a woman a table seemed odd also. Which restaurant shuts the kitchen at 7.45pm on a Friday night. The cloth lying on the floor for over half an hour and still being there when we left also was strange. Why step over it? Just pick it up. The quality of the food was mediocre. I had the scampi and chips, presentation was poor however tasted ok. My partner had the cowboy burger and as soon as it came it looked very poor. Presentation poor and the burgers looked like cheap burgers from farmfoods. He ate it because we were hungry and had travelled from Aberdeen for this meal however he said it tasted vile.

No staff. One waitress doing everything and very half hearted at that. Place was filthy. There was no Hobgoblin and only one other beer, which for a restaurant that is literally owned by a brewery is dreadful. Order was incorrect twice! Service extremely slow. Staff uninterested

Popped in for a bit of lunch earlier today and the food was lovely. Matched perfectly by the service, lovely man called Lee was seeing to us and he couldn’t have been more helpful.

Recently taken a star off due to opening hours stating they were open at 10am but I was there at 11 45 and the doors were locked. Nobody came out to explain and no notices were visible to us. Dissapointed. Edit after a few more visits. Food has gone downhill badly. Missing items from order consistently, basically no cheese on nachos, no jalapeños on spicy burger, no crispy onions or burger, no pot of burger sauce, all things the menu stated the dish had. I did enjoy the burger but it was not as advertised. After several disappointing meals I won't be retuning.

Love this place food is great, the staff are awesome and our server Caitlyn (excuse me if I spelled it wrong) was brilliant today very punctual and helpful

Been a number of times...unfortunately quality of food not always the same. Had good...but also not so good.

You automatically temper your expectations when 'dining' at such an establishment, but you still expect to get what was advertised on the menu. We both had the Sunday roast with beef, which on the menu was supposed to be served with horseradish sauce, roast and mash potatoes, seasonal vegetables. What we received was no horseradish sauce or roast potatoes (school dinner-esque boiled potatoes) and some kind of dauphenoise-type with a spiced red pepper creamy sauce (actually quite palatable - but what if people had allergies!). The Yorkshire pudding was so rock solid you could've knocked someone out with it! The 'seasonal veg' was boiled to death carrots and, now grey, green beans. The gravy came in a separate boat, which is definitely preferred. No one asked how our meal was during or after (I suspect this is to save face, as they know the food is less than underwhelming). The service was cheerful enough. Least we can write another establishment off the list.

Wanted real hot food and cutlery rather than the usual mcdonalds pit stop rat race. I chose wisely. Chips were chonkers and fish was massive n meaty. Exactly what the Dr ordered on a chill festive eve adventure. Lass at the counter was a gem. Will try persuade the kids to come here rather than happy meal it up next orbit.

Enjoyed a fabulous Xmas dinner here. Food was great, nothing left out from a proper Xmas meal. Sean gave us lovely and cheerful service. Very quick and efficient. They couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our meal.

i ordered fish and chips a couldn’t eat the fish as it wasn’t cooked properly i told my server and asked her for scampi as a replacement when i went to give her my plate to take back to the kitchen she told me just to carry on eating and she would get my scampi to me when cooked my husband had ordered a medium rare steak but it was very chewy but when seeing what i was going through he didn’t bother to com plain certainly would not recommend using the establishment ever again service was standard but food not worth 36 pound

Nice place with very friendly staff. The food doesn't take too long and is good at a reasonable price. The kids have a good selection of meals to choose from. Small play area indoors which could use an upgrade, but outside of that, nice place and nice staff

Excellent service and really dog friendly. Cater for Gluten Free and even have a dog menu. Loved our time visiting here and will be back to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.

Brilliant service, delicious food, well accommodated with our family member who is in a wheelchair. Couldn't fault any of the evening. My wife's birthday meal with family was absolutely perfect. Thank you to our waiter and waitress, bar staff and chefs. Incredible service!

Seated promptly by server who was attentive and friendly throughout meal. Table was clean and more than big enough for four seated(hate cramped tables). Didn't have to wait long between courses,food was hot, well presented, and was tasty. Nice atmosphere during evening.

Food is very poor. Smallest portion of mashed potatoes, roast potatoes mediocre, Yorkshire pudding like eating leather. Overall food was Luke warm . Nobody asked if everything was OK.

Went tonight for tea. Had to wait for cutlery after our starters were brought out.. the waitress was using the sleeves of her cardigan to cover her hands to serve the dishes as they were a wee bit hot. Am sure a napkin or clean tea towel would have been better. The mushrooms were served in a small pie dish with a few pieces of rocket on the bottom which was shrivelled up from the heat of the dish and a wee ceramic pot with garlic sauce was squeezed on the pie dish too.

I had a burger 🍔 it was good there was a component missing (crispy onions) I mentioned this when settling my bill to be told the chef is always doing that . Overall the food was good well cooked , and tasty I retured to the restaurant on the 3rd of october and had a great meal with excellent service . Glald I gave them another go .

Dreadful, waited 45 minutes for starters, with no signposting of the waiting time. When our mains didn't arrive after 1 hr and 15 minutes we requested a refund which the manger dealt with and apologised. No issues with the manager but had we been told at the outset of the staff shortages and waiting time we wouldn't have wasted 1.5 hrs within our journey time to our destination. Truly appalling service and I now see other reviews saying similar things. Haphazard leadership clearly.

Staff very friendly and good with kids food was amazing I had the surf and turf stake was cooked amazing asked for an egg with it and was very happy to find my yoke was runny have no complaints what so ever. Just one suggestion I would love to see a roast beef dinner on the menu

Went for meal st Dunnichen Stone and was really disappointed. Fish was brown and batter soft and chewy and really disgusting. Peas were not fresh . Steak and ale pies were also not good. 2 small pieces of steak and the rest gravy. For price charged not good at all. Portion sizes also very small. Certainly won't be back as what was served was not fit for consumption.

We were welcomed and had a good, dog friendly table. Service was good and pizzas excellent. When no mushrooms were available, we were offered alternatives. Only down side was a lack of salads on the menu.

The food was an absolute insult, clearly microwaved crap. the adults sized pizza is about 10" if your lucky. They did refund for the pizza. Over price crap food. I would not recommend.

Was dissapointed in lager selection , and quite pricey in my opinion

It was fairly quiet. Service was good. Thai veggie curry was a wee bit spicier than I expected, but that was ok. Lacked enough veggies compared to what I make at home.

I only tried a spoonful of the soup and not touch it anymore, not only I didn't like it but it was also cold, same with the fish and chips. Front of house didn't even care.

Booked a table for 6pm. Arrived slightly late but welcomed by friendly staff and taken to a reserved table. Waitress came over promptly to take a drinks order and advised us that there was no fish, no gammon and no Sunday roast available. Our children ordered macaroni cheese and we ordered lasagne and a steak and ale pie. At this point we were advised they were understaffed and the food might take slightly longer than usual. We weren't in a rush but were very hungry as we had had a long drive so didn't want to leave and try and find somewhere else so late on. The food when it arrived was well presented and portion size was good apart from the macaroni starter which looked tiny - for £5.50 I would expect something that is more than 2 mouthfuls. The steak and ale pie was ok but not worth the money. And then it all went downhill from there. The lasagne had absolutely no taste, next to no proper meat in it and was very watery - neither of us would eat it. The macaroni tasted like it had no cheese in it and our kids who never refuse macaroni normally wouldn't eat it. The staff when we complained were apologetic and the manager gave us a discount however the fact that a family of 5 sent back four practically untouched plates of food and still had to pay over £50 is bordering on criminal. This is the worst meal out we have ever had and will definitely not be in a rush to go back.

We had burgers and they were the best burgers we've had for a long time. Service was good and the staff were friendly.

On holiday in Scotland and on way back from a long day out. Saw the pub and thought we would stop for a drink for ourselves and our 2 St Bernards. Parked in the car park bought the drinks stayed for about an hour. Got home from our holiday to a parking fine. Update Thank you Callum for sorting the fine out we did have a nice afternoon having refreshments at the end of the day.

Food was cold. Salad leaves very wilted, clearly past their best. Garlic bread barely cooked & cold. It seemed as is the food had been cooked & left for a while before serving. Very disappointing.

A great deal of attention had obviously been taken to ensure that staff and customers were compliant with current guidelines. 1st class food at very reasonable prices in a clean, safe environment. Pleasant staff and dogs welcome too.

Travelling back to Aberdeenshire from Perth and stopped at Dunnichen Stone for lunch. Greeted immediately and warmly by Callum, who gave great service throughout our stay. There was quite a long wait for our food once ordered but when it came it was delicious and portions were huge. Good value for money, and again the service we received from Callum was first class.

Great pub, great food- cant fault it!

Normally pretty good but when we visited on Sunday, ordered a Sunday roast chicken , chicken was dry and over cooked, also ordered lasagna which was ok but lacked mince , plenty sauce but you had to hunt for the mince . So the chicken was replaced by roast beef which was ok but the carrots were over done , plus the place was under staffed ,so am sorry it won’t be on my top list for something eat . So it is time the owner looked into it and up the game, just remember there is other place to eat .

Another lovely weekend welcome for us and our large doggy as always from the Manager, even though he was short staffed. Food was fabulous (the steak cooked perfect medium and the gammon was not too salty). Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thank you, keep up the good work 😊🐾

A typical Marston's pub, much like our local one. The service was however exceptional, very friendly without going over the top and very efficient.

Below average. Table was booked for 6.15pm, arrived and had to wait about 5 mins until waitress came over to welcome us and show us to our table. Was quick to take drink order, a bit of a wait till she came back to take food order, but didn’t actually get our food until 7.10pm and there was only 4 of us! Prawn salad didn’t come with the quinoa and rice salad, but once we made waitress aware she did go and get some. Gammon was chewy and overall everyone said food was not very hot. Glasses not the cleanest - don’t think they’re dried after coming out of dishwasher. Understaffed with only two out front and two in kitchen. We’ll not return which is a shame as we’re local and the place is nice but unfortunately the food and slow service lets it down.

We had great service from our server Emily. Reasonably priced food in a nice setting, suitable for families. Will be back.

We were seated immediately and drinks order taken. The food was amazing, tasty and piping hot. My husband raved about the spicy burger he ordered and I thoroughly enjoyed the Whitby scampi. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back again soon.

Service was quick and efficient. Nice choice on menu, vegetarian options available, good choice of kids menu. Starter portion of macaroni was perfect size for smaller appetite, with addition of the most beautiful chips we have had in a long time. Philly steak baguette was excellent, steak was cooked to your requirements. Then to dessert, make sure you leave space! Sticky toffee pudding with custard was fabulous and a generous portion. Apple crumble with custard was delicious.

Table for 5 booked for 17.30. Yes we were 5 minutes late but on arrival should have been told about the wait for food. Got our drinks and ordered the meals(no mixed grills left). After asking twice about our order food eventually arrived at 18.50 one plate sent back as only lukewarm. Chicken kebab was a joke worst thing I have ever seen, most of it left on the plate. Will not be back.

Soup was only part of meal wich was served hot. Main meal was not bad but cold including chips. Some mistakes done with our order. People who come 5 min after us was served before us. Stuff try to be nice but they look like they dont want to be there. I decide to give second chance to this place after 6 years break (previous time was an absolute disaster) just to realise nothing change really. Wan’t be visiting again. Whoever works in that kitchen he got zero idea about running restaurant.

Good quality food, and excellent attentive service from Lucy our waitress. Really liked the option of table service or the qr coded to scan for food.

We waited 20 mins before having our drinks order taken, and that was after flagging down the young waitress that was trying her best. After placing our order (for 3 main courses), we waited nearly 50mins further on our meals being served, which were lukewarm. The waitress didn’t come back to ask if everything was ok with our food. We could see and hear the waitress was getting several complaints from other customers and was serving the area (by the kids play area) alone. We felt for the waitress as she was very polite and apologetic when we mentioned our meals weren’t as hot as we’d have liked, the poor girl looked worn out and ready to cry. This is the first time we have visited the Dunnichen Stone in over 2 years and were encouraged to go as we’d received a 30% discount voucher in the post, however unfortunately we won’t be rushing back (we were sat at table 5)

Stopped here unexpectedly, we were met at the door by a very polite and attentive member of staff. We had a very pleasant meal in nicely furbished surroundings.

Edit. Has improved a lot since I'd been here last. Although it was around lunchtime. The food was a lot better. The food was okay. They stop serving food at 7 pm and last orders at the bar at 7.30 pm.

Staff were lovely but food took an extremely long time to come out. Wasn't pleasant and felt like it had been previously frozen and zapped in a microwave.

Nice warm welcome from Callum, pleasant service from him and Emily, disappointing there were no baguettes as advertised on the menu (and especially so early on in the day) We were a party of 4 for a birthday lunch, 3 of us wanted the baguettes so not the best impression to start !

Stopped in for a quick bite both had the soup DONT disgusting cold no baguette as in menu got 2 slices of bread and 2 slices of cement that was supposed to be butter Won't be back please avoid

Stopped by for a quick snack nice welcome and pleasant surroundings Ordered soup and a bagette and was dissapointed to get a tiny bowl of kinda warm leek and potato well kind of soup 2 slices of ice hard butter very very bad and will not be back.

Terrible experience food came out was cold 3 plates of food was cold spoke to staff got new plate and very tastless won't return
