I was really hoping the lower scoring reviews were going to be wrong but they just aren't. We were told upon arriving there was no steaks, which half of our 12 person party were wanting. 20 mins for a drinks order so we elected to order food along with the drinks order. Starters left alot to be desired. Prawn cocktail was awful and the garlic bread was completely overpowering. Steak pie came with frozen veg which has gone cold. Pie itself was edible, mash was fine. Another person chose to have theirs with potatoes and these were undercooked. Someone was told they didn't have the belly pork right as we had just finished the starters too so they had to order again. Just awful and because of the experience and food quality, really poor value for money also.

The open fire is great and the furniture is lovely. Service was painfully slow, smile-free and far from forthcoming, on a VERY quiet night. We weren’t greeted, welcomed or advised at any point. Food was below average; soup was entirely tasteless, hand-stretched pizza was a perfect, cardboard circle and, at 5.30pm on a Sunday, there were no Sunday Roast left (the waiter had no idea what the roast was when he took the order!) or roast potatoes. The Pork Belly was good. Needless to say we didn’t have dessert. Driving past Birkhill Inn en route to Piperdam, it was incredibly busy and it’s clear why this was the case here - there’s a complete lack of care and attention for a venue that has huge potential!

Solo travelled to piperdam came to restaurant twice and sat at the bar , nick, seth, poppy, kier, made me feel so relaxed laughed joked with me there service and making me feel at ease as a solo traveller was nothing but expectional, we shared life stories, laughed and joked. Nick as a restaurant manager instantly came to me the first night and chatted and on return took the time to do the same , I have visited many restaurants and this is simply amazing , the food omg you need to have the ultimate burger up with one of the best burgers I have ever had, the cocktails are outstanding and not shy on meassures. GREAT SERVICE GUYS THANKYOU CANT WAIT TO RETURN X

Disappointing. Great views and ok interior. Service was really poor. Had to order at the bar as we seemed to have been forgotten about despite it being quiet. (Couple behind us just gave up and left) Some staff grumpy and seemed disorganised. Starters were very good. Main courses were terrible. The steak pie was awful, no meat, and overcooked. Chips soggy. Won't be returning.

We visited here a few times during our stay at Piperdam - mostly sitting within the Howie's bar section. The food and drinks we had were really nice - we enjoyed the Scottish stack burger and the Cajun chicken pasta. The staff were all really nice. They were helpful in changing the TV stations for the darts and football. It can get quite busy and noisy, with large groups and kids running around. Great to see that it was dog friendly.

Second time here this year. First occasion, we had pre-booked, but shouldn’t have bothered- it was dead. Placed orders for drinks and food at the bar - front of house staff quite polite, but no chit chat. Food arrived as we were finishing our drinks. Today, hadn’t booked, but as we arrived there were about 6/7 tables occupied, so steady but by no means busy given the size of the place. As per previous visit, ordered drinks at the bar, got menus then placed food order. We wanted a Sunday roast, only to be told that they no longer do them. We were told it would be 20-25 minutes. While waiting for our food a nearby table left - having waited over an hour for food! This was not a good sign. 40/45 minutes after ordering our food it arrived- one of our plates had clearly been intended for the table that had left. Most of it was lukewarm, with the small portion of sauce so cold it had a skin. The server was asked to take it back, and bring a fresh plate. The kitchen then cut the main thing on the plate into small pieces and it had clearly been microwaved which we were not going to accept. The other dish, had also been overcooked and been sat on the kitchen pass, but at least it was hot and relatively edible. Front of house staff were good, and 100% not their fault. Two visits almost 6 months apart, and STILL have the same problems??? If you’re still advertising on the in house menus AND online, that you do Sunday roasts, maybe they should be available ? If not maybe get them removed from the well worn menus and the website? The kitchen, in my experience, is either vastly understaffed or they’re working with a lot of broken equipment - either way a management issue.

My wife and I visited with our daughter, son in law, and grandkids aged 7 and 11. Hade a few drinks and then ordered meals for all. The restaurant and bar was extremely quiet but our order seemed to take an age to be prepared, however, the wait was not rewarded as 2 of the burgers were returned due to the burgers being virtually burnt and supplied with cold chips, the replacements were superb and cooked as required. The kids meals were of very crispy chicken with again luke warm chips and my wife’s fish was coated in what could only be described as concrete. After complaining the manager, who was very apologetic and understanding, agreed to knock the price of the food off the bill which was appreciated. I could not recommend the food and as we are staying the remainder of the week in a lodge(which is great) it meant we could not use the facility for eating although still lovely to pop in for a drink.

Came here to the bar area, for a pint and something light to eat only to be told , sorry not serving any food in the bar area, would have to book the main restaurant which would be a 40 minute wait. We've been before and never had any bother, things have definitely changed and not for the better.

Recently moved to the area and wandered down with the kids for a bite to eat and a drink. Service was slow, food wasn’t great and we paid to have the ice creams included in the kids meals. Asked twice for the ice creams to be brought out. Our eldest needed the toilet while our youngest (toddler) needed to walk so we had left the table briefly but left all belongings, pram and valuable etc there. Came back to all drinks being cleared away and no sign of the desserts. By this point it had already been a long wait and we decided to cut our losses and leave. Carpet was dirty, our corner table overlooking the lake was overshadowed by the extremely dirty windows covered in cobwebs. Unfortunately won’t be back.

The food was good, however the service wasn't. The steaks weren't cooked the way we asked them to be, the dishes came at weird timing and intervals between each, the service is almost nonexistent (you have to order at the bar, grab the cutlery yourself), letting the new hire do all the work while the rest of the staff gossips behind the bar. Would not recommend.

I'd like to say that the other reviews here don't really match the experience we had. As they all seem to be from last year, I'm wondering if the place has underdone some big changes and upgrades, because we were very happy with our visits (yes, we went more than once). We were staying at the holiday park, and so popped in for dinner on one of the nights here. My only gripe is that it was a bit expensive, but I've definitely seen worse prices. We both got soup to start (lentil and vegetable), which was actually delicious. For our mains, we had fish and chips, and a burger. The portion sizes weren't particularly large, but we certainly didn't leave feeling still hungry. In fact, we skipped dessert because we were feeling too full from 2 courses. We also came for breakfast on another day. I will say that it's not great if you want an early breakfast, as they only start serving at 10am on weekdays. But our breakfast was actually pretty decent value. Attentive staff, nice coffee, and crispy bacon. Only slightly complaint is that they were pretty stingy with the beans. One of the great points about this experience though, was the atmosphere On arrival, we both immediately commented on how nice the atmosphere was in the bar. When we came back for dinner, the fire was lit, and we sat overlooking the Loch. I'd say this was worth a visit. Real shame about the other bad reviews, but it looks like there has been some hard work put in to improve things!

Worst food I've ever eaten, Pipersham!! We went as a table of 12 and only 6 people ate their meals. - the chicken was dry and tough, had been sitting under a lamp for a long time - the steak pie had no gravy - pizza was dry and out of a packet - the Sunday roast was fatty and very tough As a treat for the family we were bitterly disappointed, the serving staff were helpful, but utterly let down by the diabolical kitchen.

Had probably the worst meal I can remember - it was a disaster. My pizza was not cooked properly, I asked for it to be cooked more but a different pizza came 20 mins later which was cooked even less with the mushrooms on it raw and cheese hardly melted and inedible My so asked for a medium steak and it was very very rare and was even still too rare after being sent back and cooked longer. It was also very tough, gristly and stringy. My wife’s steak was supposed to be well done but was medium but ok. The strawberry daiquiri was just ice and had zero taste of any alcohol and the virgin strawberry daiquiri was also just a slushy with poor taste The young lady who served us was great and did what she could The manager Jakob did offer me anything else off the menu and didn’t charge me for my pizza but everyone else had finioand I was completely put off the food by then. No one enjoyed their meal or experience and for me was a complete waste of time and money and I was very disappointed Piperdam restaurant used to be very good but not anymore I will not return nor recommend

We used to go to this restaurant at the Piperdam resort for lunch occasionally. We enjoyed the lovely setting and liked having lunch outside in nice weather. We were very disappointed today to find they now have a very limited lunch menu - just a choice of 5 ciabattas with fillings - no starters/main course meals/anything other than ciabattas. It wasn’t what we expected so we left and went to the Birkhill Inn instead, which has normal pub-lunch type food and attentive serving staff (rather than an annoying ordering app). We won’t go back to Piperdam for lunch unless they bring back a normal lunch menu.

Lovely view with a large capacity dining area but the food was really disappointing. We were £125 (family of 4, 2 x courses & 1 x pudding) for what was at best, very average pub grub. Hugely overpriced for what it was & because of this, we ate out and about for the rest of the week. Shame because it’s so convenient, had it been better we’d have gave them our custom all week.

After a swim we went for a quick bite to eat. Myself and grandkids only wanted chips, my daughter just ordered wedges and hubby went for chilli nachos. We waited over 30mins for these. Then stupidly we ordered we promised the kids a dessert once ordered it was almost 45mins and by that time I had gone up to ask what was happening that they finally arrived. Would not recommend going for a "quick" bite to eat!! Plenty of staff around and one being served food at the bar with no issues!!! But lack of communication and eye contact when trying to get attention of staff they were all behind the bar most of the time 5 or 6 of them at any one time with very few people eating so disappointed. Would have left if my granddaughter wasn't so excited for her ice-cream Sunday

Dinner here last night was like an episode of Fawlty Towers. The orders for the table behind kept being delivered to our table. Our food (starters & main courses) had been ordered before the rest of the customers arrived but they had all ordered & eaten their food by the time we got our main course. The starters only eventually arrived at the table after 45 minute wait because we pointed out the order they were trying to give us wasn't ours. We then sat for a further 30 + minutes before having to ask the staff when we could expect the main courses. Food is standard pub grub & reasonably priced but the service is absolutely shocking. If you're staying here my top tip food wise would be get a delivery from Just Eat direct to your door far less hassle & at least you'll know when you'll be fed!

We had booked a table for 6.15pm for 5 adults but had a catalogue of errors! With an establishment like this you would expect a decent menu but no, we got a menu on a sheet of paper, we even asked if this was the only menu to be told that was the only menu! You would get this type of menu in a high street cafe, very limited choice. Firstly we had lipstick on a wine glass, then the lemonade had a strange taste to be told when we complained that they had an issue with the lemonade (so why serve it?) The pepper condiment had liquid come out of it when we tried to add to the soup, when complained, the rest of the party had finished their starters, when the manager came over to clear the table we had to say that one of the party hadnt been given her starter, the replacement soup! After asking the staff twice when our main course would be served, it arrived at 7.55pm! The first 2 meals were brought out but by the time the other 3 were brought out, the first 2 were half way through theirs. For an establishment like this to have such bad service is unbelievable. This was our first visit but will definitely not be back. Very dissappointed indeed.

Restaurant wouldn't take advanced table bookings and only accepts walk ins, except when large parties have walked in and the kitchen cannot cope. It's not ideal turning a hungry 4 year old around at half 5 and having to leave, I would suggest restarting your table bookings to avoid disappointment.

We chose Piperdam restaurant for a family gathering as we have used them in the past for a graduation meal in 2016 and it was a lovely day with excellent food & service. WHAT HAS HAPPENED!!! First impressions set off alarm bells… not a single other person in the restaurant. At least the Waitress was friendly enough. Restaurant is looking very tired with cobwebs everywhere. Food was nothing special very basic ie Scampi, burgers etc £12:80 for 8 small pieces of overcooked scampi. Egg mayonnaise sandwich made with everyday plain bread with sloppy egg mayonnaise or should I say tasted more like salad cream and £8.50 for the privilege. We had planned to stay for desserts & coffee but decided against it. Do yourself a favour for the same prices try The Forbes of Kingennie much nicer. Always very busy so that says it all. Such a shame as the view with the fountain is beautiful. It should be a fantastic venue & should be fully booked everyday.

Then when we tried to order the app wouldn’t fully load and show what was available! After ten minutes we gave up and they lost a LOT of income as there were five of us and frankly we will NOT be back. Just get one of your many staff to take orders and make money. A beautiful space let down by a very poor standard of food. There is a wide variety of food on the menu in the restaurant and plenty of staff. The host was kind too. Sadly the food was very disappointing, it was similar to the kind of microwaved pub food you get these days in lots of pub chains. We had a mix of jalfrezi, steak pie, fajitas and pizza and nobody at the table enjoyed the meal. It’s a tough one given the location, there’s no other ‘restaurants’ in the piperdam resort, but I’d suggest to just have pub food from the bar as it’s the same stuff.

Older reviews are linked to Tartan Guys, the previous business that traded from this address. Grill House has only just recently started trading so I thought I would give it a try and order some food. Ordering online is easy enough and the food arrived on time. The popadoms were stale and went in the bin. The mixed pakoras were swimming in grease that had leaked from the curry so they went in the bin too. The rice was cold and had to be microwaved before being eaten. The curry was swimming in grease and I only managed to eat a tiny amount before binning it. If that's the best they can do then I'm sorry I doubt they will last very long.
