We booked a table although as it was Tuesday it wasn’t necessary. My husband immediately ordered the steak and stout pie, I had pork medallions.
If you don’t enjoy a plateful- don’t bother. We were hungry and we enjoyed the well cooked well presented meals we got
I started with sweet potato and roast pepper soup- hot hot temperature and my husband finished with a cheesecake pudding.
We were waited on by a most charming young Moroccan man; cheerful and efficient and a pleasure to chat to.
A very pleasant evening out
Amazing mini break at the Waterloo Arms. Nothing is too much trouble. Fish and chips to die for. Martha made a wonderful breakfast and so considerate. Angie the manager so friendly and welcoming. Kieran did a great breakfast
We always enjoy a great meal at Saffrons’s and tonight’s special Valentines Banquet knocked it out of the park - as they say!
Amazing tastes of street food and over 9 courses! Great experience. Some of the best tastes of India we have ever had. Please arrange something like this again soon!
Thank you to all the staff who were helpful and courteous and helped make it a great experience.
Very poor value, Spent £25 on the seafood platter no langastines so they supplemented with Scallops which i thought would be ok. when it came out there must have been about 2 Scallops thinly sliced fanned over the plate a small piece of fish and small pile of crab meat and two slices of brown bread.
We went for takeaway before getting ferry to Stornoway. Ordered an egg roll and bacon and egg roll. On opening when we got to our car we could not believe how poor they looked. Toasted stake rolls, overdone fried eggs and overdone bacon. Will not go back to this cafe again!
Omg this place is top class!!
Previous Michelin Star, they haven't dropped their standard.
2 or 3 course set menu, the menu had a map of Scotland titled The Larder, showing where their ingredients are sourced.
I had the best Cheese Soufflé I've ever had, large for a starter and so cheesy tangy.
Hubster had the salmon marinated in beetroot, on the small side but delicious.
Beautifully rare lamb for main with a filo pastry black pudding, and a lamb samosa, so minty, amazing accompaniments and presentation.
Hubster upgraded to a Rib Eye, said it was the best he'd ever had. Chef wasn't keen on serving it blue, but it was perfect.
We were full really but couldn't resist the dessert menu.
White chocolate rice pudding... omg just the best! And sticky toffee pudding.
We'd mistakenly booked a bar table, and couldn't understand why we couldn't move to the restaurant as there were free tables, but the service was excellent, attentive and friendly. It was all amazing, thank you guys 👏
Bought some cakes online to have for guests coming over Christmas.
They were absolutely delicious! 😋 received in perfect time and packaged beautifully! 🤩
Will definitely be ordering more! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am not usually a huge fan of take-aways but this really was very tasty and didn't give off too much of the usual extra-artificial colourings and flavourings. The veg was nicely chopped and cooked, the meats (sweet chilli chicken, duck chow mein) tasted nice and seasoning was just right too.
We mourn the day our favourite Edinburgh restaurant The Dogs closed. So we thought we'd check out proprietor David Ramsden's new project - a wee wine bar on Bread Street. Dogs, ponies... if you're an animal lover, you're in good company. But it's David's impeccable taste and dogged (!) commitment to quality that earned our loyalty years ago and keeps us coming back for more culinary adventures.
The Fat Pony offers a range of truly hand-picked (and handmade) wines, meats and cheeses from around the world. Hand-picked but without the snobbery. There's a lot of choice, so don't be shy to ask for recommendations. The reply may be deadpan, but that's just theatrical bluffing, because this man always gets it right when I challenge him to surprise me!
A stylish yet relaxed space, with good music playing in the background. A carafe of wine and a few tapas make for the perfect quick pre-theatre dinner - being just around the corner from the Lyceum, Usher Hall and Traverse.
I was a bit embarrassed to ask for coffee after the beautiful Primativo, but David was ready with yet another surprise: great coffee served in the most divine Wedgwood cups!
PS: Dogs welcome!
PPS: Beautiful toilets!
