We arrived at The Edge and there was no welcome. Just Fiona, scurrying around in the kitchen making food. 2 families were already at the large table. Was is table service, do we go up and order, where do we order, do we wait???? Eventually we went up and ordered, Fiona was a little stressed and constantly apologising for the wait or the lack of acknowledgment. Patience paid off though and nearly 45 mins later amazing freshly cooked food arrived. Beetroot quiche and fish chowder. Amazing! As the cafe quietened, Fiona chatted, from around the corner where she prepared more meals. An unusual set up in an unusual place but amazing food. Worth the drive, worth the wait and worth the money!

We visited with family - there were 7 of us - and had an excellent meal cooked for us. It was the most amazing fish pie and beautiful salad followed by a choice of really good deserts. There were 4 other diners at the same time and it was really good to chat over the meal. For one person to prepare all of this food, do all of the service and then washing up afterwards to such a high quality for 11 people in total was amazing. We had a great evening and would highly recommend.

Called in for a cup of tea and a cake after exploring the area. Stayed for over an hour, chatting to our hostess and looking at all the books, maps, artwork and gifts. And how wonderful to be in an area where even when the owner is out, you can let yourself in, make your own tea and leave money in the pot. Fantastic!

I always go for Fiona's freshly baked scones, warm and straight from the oven, with jam, cream and fresh strawberries. Yum.

Fiona serves her food at a communal table so we enjoyed exchanging travel stories with the other diners and comparing notes etc. Fiona was so busy we sadly didn’t get a chance to talk with her about the community but so enjoyed her delicious soup and home made bread followed by a yummy fish pie then cake. It’s a bit of a trek to get there and you must book for dinner ...but well worth it for an evening which is an experienced in itself

Stopped for coffee, cake and a lovey chat! We learned more about Aird Uig than any travel guide would tell us. It is a very odd kind of village.

We stumbled across this place by chance. We were there on Tuesday which is open house day - the owner is not there as she is away stocking up on supplies. There were various hot and cold drinks and cakes with an honesty box. The Brownies were possibly the best I have ever had! Also a little shop selling local craft items with an honesty box. Quite a cool place and worth a visit.

Nice little cafe at the end of a long road in quite a derelict area (ask about the history!). Lovely hostess, one big table to socialise, dirt cheap and delicious food and a lovely way to meet locals. Bonus: open on Sundays!

To find this delightful place you will have to be adventurous as it is at the end of a very long windy road that ends on the Edge of the cliffs alongside a deserted MOD installation.Very friendly with proper cups and saucers and a genuine welcome. A wide range of food and drinks all home made.In an area where there really isn't much to offer in the way of catering it is well worth the drive.

Great lunch, friendly host. This is a community hub and is just one long table. All food is freshly cooked to order with home made bread and oatmeal biscuits. It has a very friendly feel with all sorts of games and playing cards on the table - a really friendly place with a small gift shop selling local arts and crafts.

Funny restaurant with very friendly atmosphere. Fiona is a pleasant host. Food (fish pie) was not bad but not excellent either. For what we ate the price high 14.5 pounds each. There is just one long table shared. The place looked very messy in general.

We heard about The Edge from the friendly staff at the Uig Community Centre, so we called to see if we could have dinner there (you must call in advance for dinner). The cafe set up is lovely - a big room adjoining the kitchen, and a long table that you share with other diners. Fiona was very welcoming on what was a wet, windy and cloudy evening (the weather was unfortunate, as we were told the views from Gallan Head are spectacular). We had the chicken and the mushroom soup, the fish pie, and the coffee cake - all were absolutely delicious. The Edge is a rare find; if you are visiting the area, don't miss it!

Amazing place to come across in the somewhat rundown ex-military village of Ard Uig at Gallan Head. It is worth continuing to the last house which is a cafe, community centre and craft shop. Great food in a friendly environment - well worth a special trip.

What a find! Open on a Sunday – which is a godsend on a Sunday on Lewis and more so on the west coast. It’s quirkily good. Lots of cakes and some main dishes to choose from. A big long table to sit at. And if the host isn’t around, you can make your own tea/coffee and try the cakes – putting the money in a honesty box. Wonderful! Note: closed on Saturdays and Tuesdays (according to the website).

All the cakes and coffee there were just so fantastic, great cafe to stop over after the long driving, but more than anything, cafe owner is so superb. We had a great time chatting with her about the life of the island. We would definitely come back there again on our next trip.

I visited the cafe for lunch with a group of friends and Fiona was a warm and gracious host, her homemade food was a real treat - we were glad of the Sunday opening hours and enjoyed the setting overlooking Gallanhead. Lots of local artwork on the walls to enjoy too. Highly recommend visiting Aird Uig and the Edge Cafe

Friendly community cafe with excellent coffee, cake soups and locally sourced salmon pates, etc. It is part of a community attempt to reclaim this lovely headland that has a long military history. Well worth a stop to snack and ot support their ambitions for this unique place.

What a great visit! Smooth and flavourful coffee, amazing range of attractive baked goods - I went for the red velvet blondie - and a friendly welcome too. Busy little place, seemed to work for families as well as me with my book in the corner. Thanks so much.

Mac and cheese, whilst nicely served lacked flavour… no salt and pepper on table. Waitress delightful. Partner had the steak, nicely cooked, asked for mustard… none available.

A good cafe for breakfast and lunches serving basic fare ( everything with chips !) and home baking. Open from 8.30 am until last food orders at 3 pm. I had a bacon and black pudding roll which contained a substantial slice of Stornoway black pudding. Waited 20 minutes for it despite the cafe being almost empty. The cafe has an outdoor deck with views over the sea and it is adjacent to the Kilbride campsite. It has free WiFi.

Very poor value, Spent £25 on the seafood platter no langastines so they supplemented with Scallops which i thought would be ok. when it came out there must have been about 2 Scallops thinly sliced fanned over the plate a small piece of fish and small pile of crab meat and two slices of brown bread.
