The best restaurants in England

Ark has great coffee and delicious cakes but is also becoming a Cultural Hub - where people come to chat, exchange tips for films, tv, books, places to enjoy good coffee. Julia and Alex are great barista and great hosts. We are locals and regularly meet interesting people to chat to. Very dog friendly too.

First time visiting the Cafe! Went with my 4 month old daughter and family, couldn’t have been more attentive even though it was busy. Everybody was happy, the toilet facilities were spotless and perfect baby changing station too! Will be returning for drinks and food again soon.

Shops is not really in the best location in Horsham so don’t know how much foot traffic they get but once you know about them and crave a burger you will be going back again and again and again and again and again. Always order via Deliveroo as it’s easier and delivery times are as expected but when it arrived wow it’s the best burger you can get in Horsham if not the surrounding area. Never dry like McDonald’s or Burger King and the fact you can customise your burger makes it far tastier. Chicken burgers are also good and even better (in my view) than KFC. Well worth the money you pay for it.

We have to cafe on many occasions since it opened and we have loved it. However the last two times we have been the food wasn’t quite up to the usual high standards. However still a great place and fantastic concept..

Dropped in for a Breakfast baguette and a coffee. There were a couple of tables but opted for take out, food was freshly made to order and the coffee was good. Always good to find a local business which takes pride in the food and service that they deliver. They also had a lunch menu which had some great panini options. Sausage baguette was tasty and would happily return.

I was so looking forward to visiting this restaurant, however my experience ( as a vegetarian) was not the best. I ordered a veggie burger which came with fries ( frozen is my guess). I really wanted to enjoy the Clydee’s experience, however I didn’t. Not a fan of fast food, but McDonald’s do a decent veggie burger which has some flavour. My offering at Clydee’s looked good, however that’s where the story ends. No flavour whatsoever, despite presentation being pretty good. No point in returning, which ( as I’m not going to start eating meat any time soon!).

Came by chance, tucked away on Friday Street, we visit the area 3/4 times a year and since closure of Coasters there has been nowhere in Minehead to get a decent coffee and a cake, as we have tried the rest. Pleasant hosts and the place is nicely decorated and most important the cakes are home made, look fantastic and taste even better. So much so that when waiting for prescription from chemists called here again first thing, and had exactly the same as we had yesterday, and if we were to be in Minehead tomorrow we would be back again for the same!!! That’s how good it is! OK so CASH only, but I promise it is worth the visit. Nice to see “Reserved” signs on the tables for lunch bookings with the time booked displayed together with name of parties. Lunch menu on display looked good and not expensive for what is on offer if the quality of what we had is anything to go by. We are here another week and will definitely be back. One of the reasons we like living in Taunton. Open from 8:30am. Great coffee, amazing bread and cakes. Lunch was both wholesome and super tasty. Staff are incredibly patient and friendly

Incredible food, Hannah is incredible! Each dish was delicious and prepared with so much love. Definitely coming back! Best coffee I’ve ever had. Food is naturally gluten and dairy free!

Great Fresh Pizza. Very nice welcome from 'Shumon' to the shop and he prepared a great King Pepperoni Pizza for my Son...and he absolutely loved it and says the pizza was better than the the other big franchises. So will differently be back very soon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 😀🍕🍕👍

Our group of 10 people from a “Cake Club” had a really enjoyable afternoon tea and canal boat trip on 19 June. Andy and Caroline were very friendly hosts. The afternoon tea was delicious. The food was fresh, tasty and varied. Caroline was an excellent host….attentive but not intrusive. The canal boat trip was delightful. We journeyed effortlessly from Dunhampstead to just past Hanbury Wharf and back, which is an interesting and peaceful section of the Birmingham to Worcester canal. It included going through Dunhampstead Tunnel. Andy and Caroline rolled up the “windows” before we set out, as it was a sunny afternoon. We felt close to nature and were fortunate to see a family of swans and a heron, as well as ducks and moor hens in the reed beds. We all really enjoyed the trip and would certainly recommend it. Lovely local venue. But… having arrived for drinks on Friday August 9th and enjoying couple of rounds of not inexpensive drinks in the pub garden we were very disappointed that the outside lights were abruptly switched off at 22.20 without warning and the management refused to switch them back on again! Bearing in mind that others sitting inside the pub were able to finish their drinks without such disruption seemed incredibly rude and unreasonable. This was a Friday evening in mid August. Absolutely appalled by this rude experience and will not be returning anytime soon. Ps. Sister pub opposite (coachmakers) still had their garden lights on when we were leaving. Very very disappointed and actually quite angry at this experience!!

Wow had such a pleasant visit last week to the wooden box cafe , such a welcoming atmosphere, staff were polite and helpful , we decided to have a snack as well as some of the delicious coffee . The sausage rolls were fresh and tasted amazing ! All the food we saw looked so fresh and tempting . We would recommend to anyone visiting ramsgate to try there . 100% we will become new regulars .
