Great Sunday lunch food excellent and swift service. Cosy atmosphere and staff friendly and helpful it's definitely worth a visit.

We booked a table as this was a highly rated place for a roast dinner near Scarborough. I had called ahead and enquired about vegetarian roast dinner options for my girlfriend. On the phone I was assured there were multiple options and although this technically was the case, neither were necessarily the best accompaniments for a roast (stuffed pepper and stuffed pasta). The service was great and we had a lovely table in a corner and the atmosphere was cozy and great. I ordered the beef roast dinner and my girlfriend ordered the stuffed peppers with a roast. The food came relatively quickly. The selection of vegetables was nice and was a welcomed change to have red cabbage and cheesy leeks although they would have been a bit more generous with the portion size as it was to share between the 2 of us. It would have also been nice to have some optional extras on the menu like a portion of cauliflower cheese. The roast dinner also only came with 2 roast potatoes which were really big but would have preferred 3 or 4 smaller ones. It came with a jug of gravy however it was meat gravy and there was not a vegetarian alternative but luckily my girlfriends stuffed peppers were quite saucy so her dinner wasn't dry. My beef was nice however it was slightly chewy and could have been hotter coming out and was only kept warm by hot gravy. Bit of an irrelevant side note but the loos were really nice! Everything else was really lovely and we did have a nice meal and I appreciate it is a small country pub in Scarborough but if you advertise as vegetarian friendly then I think it needs to follow through fully - for example being advised they don't have a veggie gravy upon ordering the dinner or even having a veggie alternative. I'm sorry to be negative, especially when we did have such a lovely time (hence the 4 stars) bu my girlfriend has been vegetarian for 5 years and situations like these feel very frustrating and easily avoidable if staff are more aware and informed.

Stayed here for 3 nights and was so impressed with the whole experience The rooms are very clean and comfortable We enjoyed a peaceful sleep The meals are very good great value for money and we were really spoilt for choice during breakfast The staff here are amazing Natalie and Stacy were so helpful and friendly they were able to meet every need or request We really feel their professional approach and customer service made our stay so enjoyable We will be definitely returning to stay again

Thank you to the lovely landlord, staff members, chef and locals of this pub. My partner and I had travelled 3 hours today and made it just in time for lunch (which they served us outside as an exception). Lovely friendly pub which we will be sure to visit again next time we're in the area. Thank you for the warm welcome and delicious lentil cottage pie and scampi- fresh and homemade, hearty food. Booked here as we were staying in Cloughton for a few days. What a treat it was. The atmosphere and food were second to none. Lovely friendly bar staff. Reasonably priced proper home cooked food. Recommend this place in a heartbeat. Great choice for our last evening here. Open fire and Summer fruits crumble topped off a prefect evening.

My Wife and I recently attended a wedding at 'The Barn'. Fabulous venue, food and service, would highly recommend. We all had a great day however one issue regarding the bar prices, many of the guest's commented on the high prices. That was the only negative, beyond that great, Many thanks for a wonderful day.

Caminé por el Camino de Cleveland desde Cloughton. El Hayburn Wyke nunca decepciona. Gran ambiente, buena comida y precios muy razonables en un entorno precioso. Posiblemente los mejores aros de cebolla que he tenido. Mi compañero consiguió la baguette de carne asada. Era enorme y venía con patatas fritas perfectamente cocinadas y una gran ensalada.

Called here on way from Whitby to Scarborough, as after 4 wasn’t sure where open . Found this by chance , two lovely Sunday roasts and desserts . Staff excellent too .

He decidido escribir esta opinión después de otra comida decepcionante en el café Irton Garden Centre. Nos sirvieron nuestras bebidas de inmediato, pero esperamos 35 minutos para nuestras comidas a pesar de que el café estaba bastante vacío en el momento de nuestra visita. La calidad de la comida no era buena y ciertamente no vale la pena la cantidad que pagamos. Es una pena ya que nos gusta mucho el centro de jardinería en sí.
