The best restaurants in Shipton Hambleton Yorkshire and The Humber

It’s not often you can say you’ve had a faultless experience but Sunday lunch here was genuinely exceptional. Wonderful attentive but discreet service, a beautiful setting and most of all, the food was cooked to perfection. The Indian-spiced fish cake was a particular highlight. Really child-friendly as well. This was a repeat visit and we will be back again, without a doubt.

Booked ahead for a table of 7, including 3 children. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted at seated promptly. The kids were offered colouring material, and liked to look at the fish (pet ones that are alive!). Food was delicious and good-sized portions. Not...

Nice couple running a good looking restaurant. Ordered food, one of the meals had a “cooked fly” on a chip. Meal was taken away and returned with new chips! No offer of a full replace, simply took off the chips and added new chips (probably fried in the same oil as the fly)!The fish was nice but a bit watery. It looks like it was not fully defrosted before drying. The price of a Diet Coke was removed from our bill, the fly meal was still charged.

Been in today for a drink, ended up chatting to everyone including Wendy the owner. Really couldn't be bothered to come home and cook. Asked for a takeaway, beef casserole and dumplings.... Absolutely gorgeous. Thankyou Wendy.

What a smashing hostelry. Cosy bar with happy chat, great menu and tasty home cooked food to order. Really enjoyed a very pleasant hour ( found purely by chance). We will definitely be back for more and longer. Thank you.

Wow 5 star. A prime example of a village pub. Everyone and I mean everyone welcomed two strangers into their community pub and bent over backwards to help us and make us feel welcome. I'm on a carnivore diet and Yvonne the chef accommodated this and made me a meal to die for. I can't thank you all enough for such a warm welcome and for even offering to pick us up in the absence of taxis (thx Andy). This is how pubs should be my wife and I felt like we lived in the village and it was OUR local. We will definitely be going back again. Credit to the owners, staff and your locals.

My fiance' and I spent a lovely Valentine's weekend at Sidings. We LOVED every second of it! The rooms are warm, cozy and very clean - they're in real train carriages! - and we had the most amazing meal at the restaurant - which is also in a train carriage! We went for the full meat meze -everything was so delicious and tasty. Best experience ever - we'll definitely be back!

This is mistaken all the way through, maps and all. Isn't even Yorkshire, it's Cleveland and has a TS postcode. There is a Skelton near York, but it's not where this eatery is/was. Clear up the mistakes, Trip Advisor!

Excellent cafe. Steak nights on Friday each month were rather special. Fabulous breakfast and cafe. Brilliant locally sourced and home made produce. Well run and fabulous venue. Will be missed
