The best restaurants in Shipton Hambleton Yorkshire and The Humber

Booked ahead for a table of 7, including 3 children. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted at seated promptly. The kids were offered colouring material, and liked to look at the fish (pet ones that are alive!). Food was delicious and good-sized portions. Not...

Nice couple running a good looking restaurant. Ordered food, one of the meals had a “cooked fly” on a chip. Meal was taken away and returned with new chips! No offer of a full replace, simply took off the chips and added new chips (probably fried in the same oil as the fly)!The fish was nice but a bit watery. It looks like it was not fully defrosted before drying. The price of a Diet Coke was removed from our bill, the fly meal was still charged.

Had to give one star in order to post this. Intended stopping for a beer after passing through the lock with a friend and my two labradors. Very rude member of staff told us to remove the dogs. We didn't stop. A former lockeeper's residence, it should be property separated from the lock in order to avoid confusion. Horrible experience.

What a smashing hostelry. Cosy bar with happy chat, great menu and tasty home cooked food to order. Really enjoyed a very pleasant hour ( found purely by chance). We will definitely be back for more and longer. Thank you.

Came here yesterday for mine and my wife's 10 year anniversary and the food here was incredible. Would recommend to anyone that likes food.

Este es uno de nuestros pubs/restaurantes favoritos. Hemos visitado varias veces a lo largo de los años y no podemos recordar haber sido decepcionados. Este viernes vinimos a almorzar con retraso. Había 3 adultos en nuestro grupo. El pub seguía ocupado a pesar de que estaba hacia el final del servicio. Bienvenida súper cálida del personal. Comimos en el bar y tuvimos G&T y un par de pintas de propietario. 3 tuberías diferentes con una botella de vino y 3 dulces diferentes. No dejamos ni un rasguño. La comida era simplemente deliciosa. Cerca de £ 150 all in, que nos pareció que era una excelente relación calidad-precio. La única decepción es que parecen haber dejado de hacer el menú de la hora del almuerzo a un precio fijo para 2 o 3 platos. Esto lo hizo aún mejor, pero fuera de una elección de menú restringida. Volveremos.

Proper good local, we're out visiting the river nearby and dropped off for a quick pint. Black sheep on tap, sold! There's on street parking and a car park round the back of the pub too. Lovely beer garden opposite the church. Friendly talkative staff, and reasonable prices. 10/10, would pub again.

Sunday Lunch, my husband had roast beef and I had roast pork. Both came with seasonal veg and yorkshire pudding. This was the best roast we have both had in a long time. The flavours of the meat and veg were amasing cooked to perfection we will definitely go again. Highly recommend.

Excellent location, brilliant hosts and beautiful restaurant. The bedrooms are comfy and tastefully decorated. Will definitely be back here.

This is mistaken all the way through, maps and all. Isn't even Yorkshire, it's Cleveland and has a TS postcode. There is a Skelton near York, but it's not where this eatery is/was. Clear up the mistakes, Trip Advisor!

Excellent cafe. Steak nights on Friday each month were rather special. Fabulous breakfast and cafe. Brilliant locally sourced and home made produce. Well run and fabulous venue. Will be missed
