Visited for my husband’s birthday, accompanied by our dog. We had a drink in the bar as the table was apparently not available until 7 in the Russell room, which is where people with dogs are banished to; a room not unlike a 1980’s conference suite. The staff in the bar area were lovely and service was great. Went downhill after that. The Grill looked welcoming and vibrant, the Russell Room is not. Not sure why we had to wait until 7 as it was empty apart from one other couple. Would have been happier eating in the bar area and not feel like we were being punished for bringing our dog, which I appreciate not everyone is a fan of. Husband’s food was excellent apparently; lamb shanks. My was awful; gnocchi. Approximately 10 dry, obviously burnt and completely devoid of any flavour balls of nothingness in a bland, tasteless sauce. Not sure how it got sent out. Had it removed from the bill at the end and was not asked how the food was at any point after it had been delivered. Overall, an extremely expensive and overrated place to eat and drink.

Having been a regular visitor over the years I feel compelled to share the bad experiences of the last two visits. Our latest visit was for my Birthday lunch with one of my daughters. In short service was awful (as it was on our previous visit) drinks were very over priced. But then my daughter received a parking fine after ringing up to request a lunch reservation and could we use the car park. £100! So cross as no-one told us to speak to reception upon arrival. We rang half hour before. Then had to spend over an hour sorting without even an apology. Despite sending proof of our meal. It has been revoked but this is poor. Seems to us that standards have slipped a lot. Its always been a favourite for meeting up but will now be looking elsewhere.

Went with family and friends for a special lunch and was not disappointed. The dining room was not busy, so service and food delivery were all very timely. Food portions were quite adequate and each guest enjoyed their choice. Loved the ambience of the huge vaulted dining hall.

We stopped in Broadway during a tour of the Cotswolds. It is a beautiful village and we were lucky to get a seat outside. It was a very hot day but most of the tables had umbrellas. Quick and friendly service at the bar and a couple of nice cold pints.

Very quiet with no atmosphere. Told to take a photo of the menu and then sat us in the back room next to the toilets. All the tables in the front were empty; where at least it is lighter. Stern waiter took order. There was nothing ultimate about my cheese and ham toastie. Two slices of toast, a bit of cheese, one slice of ham and a couple of slices of tomato with a few crisps, £14. If you Google James Martin ultimate cheese toastie it looks very different to what they are serving. The tofu salad was just lettuce and tofu; very poor and £16. So disappointing when we had travelled from Moreton on Marsh to Broadway especially. Should have stayed in Moreton on Marsh, far nicer restaurants and bars
