The Country Bar in Wychavon

We stopped in Broadway during a tour of the Cotswolds. It is a beautiful village and we were lucky to get a seat outside. It was a very hot day but most of the tables had umbrellas. Quick and friendly service at the bar and a couple of nice cold pints.

Wow, such poor service! Never had chance to try the food. We booked for 6 outside on the website, leaving a message to confirm outside. Telephoned this morning to confirm the booking and that it was outside. Arrived in good time and was told we had to eat inside or we could cancel our booking. The person serving arrogant and lacked basic customer service skills. We suggest retracing or a career not involving customer contact.

El "gerente" de este lugar es una broma absoluta. Pedimos entrantes y platos principales en el bar (¿no hay servicio de mesa?) Que luego llegaron todos a la vez. Luego me culpó por su error y dijo que el chef no quería que los platos principales estuvieran en la cocina. Entonces mi madre tuvo que levantar su sopa mientras este drongo nos arrojaba los platos principales. Su actitud era completamente poco profesional y vergonzosa. Toda la visita dejó un mal sabor de boca y no fue solo la comida muy MUY normal. Salimos regularmente para un buen almuerzo y puedo decir categóricamente que nunca más volveremos a cruzar la puerta de este horrible lugar. Por favor, no malgastes tu dinero con estos idiotas.

Stopped here for a bit of lunch on a Sunday..we just had Haloumi fingers which were greasy! A chicken and bacon sandwich which I can only describe as gross! Fatty and verging on undercooked! We also ordered whitebait again not all good! Will not return!!

Stopped by here for lunch today. It was a beautiful sunny day so we chose a table outside at the front of the hotel. We placed our order at the bar; one steak sandwich, a flatbread wrap with Mediterranean vegetables and two IPA beers. The food quality was ok but the customer service was diabolical. Three young staff were serving customers seated outside and not one of them could raise a smile let alone engage in conversation. Our food was delivered but no cutlery. Our waiter said that cutlery would follow; we were not asked if we required any condiments so I asked for salt/ pepper, mayonnaise and ketchup. A young waitress came back to the table after several minutes and delivered the cutlery, salt/ pepper and mayonnaise but no ketchup. She placed all items in the centre of the table sweeping them off of the tray and saying ‘ here’s your cutlery!’ Quite frankly you would get better service in a back street cafe. I observed other customers being treated similarly. All tables were served with food first and cutlery second. What’s the point of delivering hot food if you cannot eat it straight away? That has to be the fault of management in not training staff to deliver the basic table set ups first ahead of food delivery. All in all a very disappointing experience.

If you want a chocolate box image setting then look no further than Broadway in Worcestershire, however that`s where the attraction ends for despite the pretty historic building forming part of the aesthetically pleasing environment, the hotel ( of which it pretends to be) has a service so appalling that its standards are an embarrassment to the hospitality industry!. Bar staff in chaos ( despite it not being busy) waitresses walking around with food looking for the table , asking guests what they had ordered to see if matches the plates being sent out from the kitchen, tables receiving starters and main courses at the same time. A waitress called Janet in total melt down as nobody knows or understands the table numbers. Arguments between the staff whilst bar staff ignored you waiting patiently to be served owing to a confusion with one of the tills etc.., the list goes on. If you could imagine a bunch of total novices from different backgrounds running the shop for the first day then this is the experience we received at the Broadway hotel I do recommend you visit Broadway but only with a packed lunch !.

The broadway hotel is a lovely place and the staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. However.... the bar staff and wait staff are some of the most stuck up and rudest people I’ve ever met. Instantly derisive and condescending when ordering food or drinks, regularly shouted at people across the bar when not ordering as succinctly as they would like and laughed in customers faces when they got something wrong (eg/ “is that beer an ale? Haha, no its a porter!” Wow). I have a hospitality company in Holland and if I had any of the staff there in my employment I would sack them all instantly and tell them to consider a different profession. Go to The Swan across the road instead.. please.

My husband is on a medical diet. He ordered a plain chicken sandwich and was told it would come without butter and dressing, perfectly plain. However, the chicken was not plain. It was covered in a crispy coating and deep fried. Why don’t staff listen to specific requests.

Popped in for lunch whilst staying locally. The food was lovely, eventually! However, the panicky approach of the manager left a lot to be desired. There wasn’t a salad on the menu so I asked for one (I didn’t want bread for health reasons which I stated too). He proceeded to say that he couldn’t do that as sandwiches were ‘already made up’. After further explanation we managed to order, however, it wasn’t without him indicating I was at fault. My request was clear! He then proceeded to patronise another customer who asked if there was a toilet he could use. Rude! It is clear that other members of staff are frustrated with him too as, on hearing the discussion, one of them apologised to me. Other staff were lovely. Ironically, I was visiting to attend an awards ceremony at another hotel as I had won an award for excellent staff engagement and management, so this treatment stuck out a mile for me. Please learn to take responsibility, listen to your staff and customers and calm down!

De Country Bar van The Broadway Hotel is een gezellige plaats om te dineren. Menu, drankenkaart en desserts, er is keuze genoeg! bestellen aan de bar bij het vriendelijke barpersoneel! Onze schotel van gebakken zeebaars was zeer lekker!

I know location, location, location is everything, and the appeal of sitting out on their courtyard overlooking the town is lovely, but I am sorry to say we found the food average and overpriced. We chose 2 Prawn and crab mayo sandwiches from the bar menu, one steak ciabatta and 1portobello mushroom & halloumi cheese burger and the total price for just the food was £42.40 For that we got sandwiches made from ordinary everyday sliced bread, served with a handful of salad leaves and a hand full of crisps. £9.90 for each round of Sandwiches, which were no bigger or better than a Prawn sandwich from M&S. I am not sure where the crab was as I could only see prawns in the sandwich. I have to confess, I left there hungry, having drooled over the 'thought' of a brimming doorstep sandwich made from good quality bread based on the £9.90 price when I first placed the order. The burger should have come with pesto mayonnaise and instead came with a pot of BBQ sauce?! Since when did grilled portobello mushrooms and grilled halloumi cheese go well with BBQ sauce? Se we asked about the Pesto mayonnaise, and eventually we were brought a ramekin of pesto sauce (minus the mayonnaise...) The venue location is lovely and service was good, but that was as far as it went. We arrived in Broadway looking for a place with outdoor seating and found the Country Bar that fit the bill. The beer and water were good and cold, and we only had chips to eat, but the service was good and the patio was very pleasant. It was just what we were looking for to rest and replenish. Other patrons were apparently enjoying as well, just not walking.

Had two bar meals and drinks during a recent 3 day stay in Broadway. the meals in the bar are reasonably priced and the service is slick. The meals were of a decent portion and the menu quite extensive for eating in the bar area. The food was fantastic, hot, served in a decent time even when it was very busy, using local ingredients and cooked very well. The bar is great, always busy and a wide range of cocktails, wines and beers. This is the best place in Broadway to eat and drink.

My husband was quite pale when he came out with a pint of Old Peculiar and a glass of wine. £13. That would have cost under £8 back in Kent! However, very nice surroundings which is what we were presumably paying for, lots of people enjoying themselves, eating the food which looked very nice.

If I had read the reviews of this place, we would have missed one of our best meals on our trip to England. The outdoor part of the restaurant at the Broadway Hotel was very crowded, and when we asked about getting a table, we were told that we could order right away from the bar menu, inside. We ordered the first two starters on the menu, a glass of pinot grigio, and a side of roasted corn on the cob. The starters were a bowl of cream of broccoli soup and a rustic bread tray with antipasti (eggplant, sun-dried tomato, artichoke heart) and a bowl of hummus. The food arrived promptly, there was plenty of it, and it all tasted wonderful. Our total was 20.50 pounds with tip, which we thought was quite reasonable for the amount of food. After we ate, we went outside and took pictures of people with their dogs sitting at little tables by outdoor heaters. The decor was nice inside as well, and we took a picture of a dog lying under a table inside. Great experience.

Yesterday Sunday 19th October we decided to try the jockey bar for a lunch as we have used the main restaurant for a special occaission.

Fuimos a el Hotel Broadway para el almuerzo y nos quedamos impactados por la por debajo de la media, y comidas frías! (El gerente fue muy útil una vez que expresa nuestra decepción). Las bebidas también eran ridículamente caro ... un fabuloso lugar en el corazón de Broadway, pero no es el estándar que esperábamos para el precio!

Mi esposa y yo cenamos en el bar anoche y resultó ser una gran decepción. Todo el personal era muy agradable y servicial, especialmente la señora mayor. Mi esposa tenía el quiche y era normal en el mejor de los casos, tuve el Char-pechuga de pollo a la parrilla, que fue extremadamente seco, (o bien demasiado cocida o cocinado algún día de antelación), la mitad de la envoltura pan era poco hecha, (casi cruda y pastoso), los centros de la joya lechuga eran tan algo pesada, casi todo y casi no vestirse con la ensalada. Pedí una porción de "salsa bearnaise" sólo para probar y fue la peor "bearnaise" que he tenido la desgracia de sabor, y sólo tenía un sabor! Era tan desiguales y menos consigna ensayo. Nunca debería haber sido llamado bearnaise..
