Excellent country pub, very popular and lively atmosphere. Good range of beers, CAMRA award winning pub. Indian restaurant food is very good and would recommend a visit.

Had a lovely evening listening to the Salty Badgers! Great wine, great beer, lovely staff. Couldn’t ask for any more We both run a pub in Kent and we couldn’t believe the atmosphere and the prices! They were even accommodating for us southern folk! Can’t recommend this place enough, thank you!

After a very long and stressful day we happened to find this gorgeous little pub, a hidden gem in the Staffordshire countryside. My husband is disabled and Millie was absolutely fantastic in finding us somewhere suitable to sit. The food was exactly what we were hoping for and the service was so fast. Good honest pub grub. Although we live in Cheshire we will definitely be returning and booking a lodge. I also want to give my highest compliments to Millie our waitress who was just brilliant. Thank you for saving us from a terrible day with a little ray of sunshine.

First I'd like to say that John was lovely, very chatty on arrival and couldn't be more helpful. However, this site isn't "family friendly" if you have younger kids. We were next to a main road that was alot louder than we thought it would be, and there were other campers blasting music till quite late (for a 5 & 8 year old). Dogs were running around the site off leads and kept approaching our dog who was always on his lead, one dog actually entered our tent and the owners had no clue 🤦🏻♀️ As we walked down to the toilets there was dog poo left on the ground which added that extra bit of fun trying to get 2 kids to avoid it. It felt abit cramped as more campers arrived as cars were just left in the middle of the field.

This isn’t a review I write lightly, as I genuinely believe in supporting local businesses, especially when the staff are warm and the food is full of flavour - which is certainly the case here. The lady at the front desk is always lovely, and the dishes themselves are tasty. However, I feel a duty to share my experience for the sake of others with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance. Over the past couple of years, I’ve ordered takeaway from here a couple of times. Each time, despite reassurances that the dishes were gluten-free, I’ve felt unwell afterwards. Initially, I wasn’t sure whether it was the food or something else. However after another order last night - during which I spent significant time confirming every detail over the phone - I experienced the worst gluten reaction I’ve had in over five years. Today I’ve been completely wiped out and unable to work. I ordered a simple combination of rice, chips, vegetables, and cashew nuts. Based on my symptoms, I strongly suspect there was gluten present, and in large amounts - there had to be gluten ingredients added to the dish, not just cross contamination. For the benefit of the team, and any customers with coeliac disease, I kindly suggest reviewing the following practices: 1. Ensure food for coeliac customers is prepared in clean, separate pans that haven’t been used for previous (non-GF) orders. 2. Chips should be cooked in a dedicated gluten-free fryer, with no battered or gluten-containing items cooked in the same oil. 3. All gluten-free orders should be made fresh, without reusing ingredients that may have been contaminated. 4. Standard soy sauce typically contains gluten - please only use certified gluten-free soy sauce, which stores well and is safe. 5. Avoid using wheat flour or any gluten-containing thickeners in sauces - there are safer alternatives. While the food quality and taste are commendable, the apparent lack of communication between the front of house and kitchen regarding gluten-free requirements has, unfortunately, led to repeated issues. I share this not to discourage others from trying the food - if you don’t have allergies or dietary restrictions, this is a great local spot worth supporting. But for those with serious allergies or coeliac disease, I urge caution until clearer procedures are put in place. Should the business implement clear and robust allergy protocols in future, I would gladly return. Until then, I’m sadly unable to do so after these experiences.

Located out in the country so a nice drive out before a meal. The inside is quaint and cozy. Good choice of food served quickly and was really enjoyable. The downside was the two waitresses that served us, as we arrived we were a bit unsure where to check in for our booked table we saw a waitress walking towards us and she completely blanked us which as our first visit here was rather off putting to say the least. Two waitresses served us one of which was the one that blanked us, both were unfriendly and seemed they could not be bothered. The first one said press the bell when you’re ready to order but no one came after two rings so we had to shout her over same when we wanted the bill. Summery Food really nice, Waitresses need Customer Service training.
