Booked late and got a table,no waiting around to be seated. The staff were very attentive, everything was clean and the staff were very busy for a Saturday night, so had a small wait for each service. Will definitely be going again.

Very clean and welcoming. Service great and food fresh , hot and very tasty . A little over the top to be asked 3 times if we would like another drink however shows how attentive they are . Maybe remove the un used heater from the window sill . Excellent food though we will definitely return .

After a fantastic day out at alton towers we called in to try this Indian after reading the reviews and I agree with everyone of them. The food was amazing, the timing between starters and mains were perfect, service was impeccable and we will definitely be back again. Thank you

Presently surprised... family of 4 staying at a camp site near by...we where spending 2 days at Alton towers and went basic camping...so planned just to eat out as a treat ...found the golden keg while driving past it ( it didn't seem to show up on Google maps)..from outside didn't look to special...old run down local pub !! It was a Indian/ English menu which suited all of us ...again on entering the pub / restaurant, still wasn't looking too good...but was presently surprised as there was a lovely decorated large conservatory room, which was bright and looked very clean .... Menu , plenty of options..I do like my Currys and try to have something different if I can and did didn't disappoint!! Lots of curry options I've never seen before ...can't remember what I had , but the chunks of lamb it had and tasted delicious 👍👍 The whole family were catered for..youngest son (13) not a fan of curry.had BBQ smothered chicken and chips ... thought price was reasonable, just under £100 for 4 adult meals , lots of starters and a few pints ... staff where great and couldn't do a enough for you ...thanks

Visited early on a Friday (by early I mean 1700) The food was outstanding, and the staff were very friendly and competent they explained the food to us with detail.

We came to Golden Keg following a recommendation and it was definitely worth the trip. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be going back again and will be recommending it to others

Nice place, has a bar as you walk in which was surprisingly busy given it's got a far larger seated dining area then bar area. Menu is varied I'd find it hard to believe that someone couldn't find something they liked from traditional Indian dishes to traditional English dishes. Food I couldn't flaw, they made me a Chicken Balti that was spot on perfect blend of subtle heat and aromatic spice. Service wise, food took just shy of an hour to come out which wasn't too bad as you could tell everything was freshly prepared so I didn't begrude the wait, rather that then they serve me something from a vat that's been kept warm forever. On the note of service they were very accommodating to my partner's dietary needs and offered suggestions and alternatives to her and when her meal arrived they were once again accommodating ensuring all was okay and we're only to happy to help. I only knocked atmosphere down by one as dam the music was loud, I mean it drowned out the people around us well but it did make having a conversation a little difficult. We both felt as if we had been shouting to each other when we came out with slightly horse throats lol don't let it deter you the place is lovely, clean and well tended. We had starters, mains, shared a rice and had a couple of soft drinks each and total was around £25 a head so a fair price for far more food then we could eat and they were only to happy to box up what was left for us (far to tasty to let it go to waste!)

We tried this for the first time. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was excellent with the menu offering some dishes we had not heard of. Also the drinks menu was good with a variety of lagers and bitters. We will definitely be back.

As always the food was exquisite, service is fully attentive and the bar is well stocked. Have tried loads off the menu and have never been disappointed.

Recently moved to the area and took my parents here for a Wednesday night curry, we was not disappointed! Free starters on a weds with any main, which is a good offer! Staff were very attentive and polite, the portions were big, naan bread was fresh and the curry’s were very tasty. They ask you how you like your spice too which was a nice touch and also asked if we wanted to take any left overs home. Very impressed and will most certainly be back. I recommend the railway lamb!

Been here twice and both times food has been amazing staff lovely and friendly ,only down fall is they stand watching at the doors ,so i felt like a goldfish ,but this wouldnt stop me going again Tikka masala is a must ,bullet naan very hot but moreish,garlic rice was so good I do think this is a hidden gem And highly recommend

Really busy tonight as expected for a Saturday, the food took a little while but time soon passed whilst chatting with family. The owners and the staff kept us informed and couldn’t apologise enough. Visited the golden keg after visiting Alton towers for a nice Indian. The soya annd Manchurian were amazing and delicious - would definitely recommend for vegetarians and vegans. Both the starters and mains were exceptional. Would visit again when in the area

I visited a few months ago with family for the Sunday buffet. The food was fantastic and customer service was exceptional. I am gluten free and vegetarian, the staff were so accommodating and helpful - they showed me everything on the buffet that I could eat and also made me my very own curry.

Went tonight it's the 2nd time we have been and again we were not disappointed, the food was as excellent as the service and atmosphere and we will definitely be going back

Amazing food and great service. The staff could not do enough for us and repeatedly asked us if there was anything else we needed and if everything was okay. Another table near to us unfortunately complained about the wait time despite only ordering 20 minutes before, the staff dealt with this amazingly and it is unfortunate that the other table didn’t wait to have the great food! We are always happy for the short wait time for freshly cooked quality food!

Awsome food extent service Atmosphere feel like home

A lovely family run place. Very clean and tidy. The decor was really good. Good selection of drinks, good selection of food including vegetarian options. Very happy with our meals bar a vegetarian jalfrezi which was mainly potato and the potatoes weren't skinned. Sagaloo naan bread poppadoms kids meals all excellent

Fantastic food with incredible flavours, one of the best Indian’s I have had in a long time! The only complaint I have was that there was a group of children, of various ages, playing in the buffet area. Maybe it was because we were near the entrance that I found them so noisy but even with the fairly loud music it failed to drown the screams.

Went for the Sunday Buffet. The food was amazing and the the atmosphere was lovely. We were greeted on arrival and the service was excellent. Will definitely be returning, keep it up 👍🏻. Only one small fault (picky), the baby changing/disabled toilet was very cold. Otherwise a pleasant experience.

I am completely blown away with the food and the authentic taste of this restaurant! We came here today for the vegetarian buffet.. The spread, the taste and the freshness was so good! One of the best Indian restaurant with an authentic taste.. No preservatives, just some natural tasting food ... Really enjoyed the food! Service was great! One special point I want to add here is, our youngest one was crying uncontrollably when we reached. One of the staff members took care of the screaming by offering some treats, which enabled us to eat our food peacefully! Overall a good experience! Will visit again! Highly recommended restaurant for vegetarian buffet on a Sunday! Keep up the good work! Cheers!

Best food ever.. I'm coeliac and they have made extra barbecue chicken, although I had so many to choose from.. Same for my father in lae who is vegan Delicious food and an excellent service. We are definitely going to go back soon.

The starters were really nice, but both mine and my husband's main was incredibly salty and not pleasant. I wouldn't recommend having the cocktails, they are nice but so small!! A mojito in a martini glass! Rip off. I will stick to pop next time. Nice atmosphere and lovely inside , we would visit again to give it another go.

Highly recommended if you like a good curry then you have to try this place.

We went for the sunday buffet. Food was very limited and had clearly been sat for a while with out being replenished. Chicken was literally like rubber. Staff are super friendly though but that's not what you go for.

Recently visited here after indulging in many takeaways delivered. Excellent service, excellent food and a lovely drop of Cobra IPA. What more can you ask for? Thanks all.

The best in Stoke on trent hands down

This was an old pub which has been tastefully converted. Food saved was lovely on this occasion we ordered a little bit too much or eyes bigger than or belly, to my surprise they parcelled up what we haven't eaten 2 take home. Reasonably priced and worth a visit.

We had a Thursday night curry, buy one get one free. Garlic bread and pilau rice, cobra beer, could not have been better.

We went here for the September 2022 Two for One curry offer (only available mid week). We both had the speciality Tawa Tak-a-Tak curry, one lamb and one paneer. The curry comes out on a hot skillet and served on top of a bed of sizzling onions and peppers. Both dishes were well cooked, extremely tasty and a very good portion size. The meat in the lamb dish was lean and tender. We also had sides of coconut rice and chips to share, both cooked nicely. I have a big appetite and I was very full afterwards. The lager is reasonably priced. Service is very good. Overall, a very nice visit and meal. Recommended.

Always a pleasure to dine here. Friendly staff and excellent food. Was here recently for my birthday party and staff made it excellent and smooth, even though it was a party of 20+. This is my go-to family outing restaurant. We all love it here.

Spent time reading great reviews so studied menu, placed and paid for an order. Then received a call to say order had been cancelled as we lived 5.2 miles away and the driver could only cope with a 4 mile radius. Such a shame for the driver as we always give a large tip!! Wish our time hadn't been wasted and we could have added to the great reviews but it's good to know a business is doing well in these hard times !

Lovely meal. Both my wife and me had great meals. We went for the Indian side of the menu tonight and was not disappointed. You can also have English food here as well on the reverse side of the menu which does not happen in many places. A lovely clean place with very friendly and pleasant staff. Also has a great range of beers to choose from. An all around brilliant place. Went again last night (19th of March 2022) and it's still a lovely place all as before. This time a family meal for six people. We were all happy with our meals and service we received. The place was pretty full from 6pm when we arrived until 7.30pm when we left, so a very popular restaurant.

Enjoyed a great birthday meal this evening for our party of 16. We were able to pre-order our meals and set up separate tabs to pay. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Happy to recommend.

I ordered a takeout for my family and myself, when the food arrived after about 50 minutes it was piping hot and was exactly the same as dining in. The food was incredible, I tried the salt and pepper squid for the first time and it was delicious! definitely recommend the Golden Keg.

Good first experience. The former Pub building doesn't quite work, too open plan. Also the menu looks like something from a sizzler pub with a whole side dedicated to English food. So not a good start... But go behind the first impressions and it gets better. From the friendly and attentive staff to the freshly prepared food, it was a positive experience. Perhaps better for groups than date night, good parking and sensibly priced. Just been back (2 weeks later than first review) and again the staff and food excellent. The chicken dishes are excellent and the homemade Paneer also.

Clean, nice decor, space to just sit & have a drink whilst people wait for a takeaway. Staff attentive & polite. I had the chicken tak-a-tak & there was loads of chicken. Garlic & coriander naan was lovely (not too thick, but flavoursome). The £11.99 mixed starter was great. Could possibly be a sharing starter for 3 - 4, not a large starter for 2. Would recommend this place if you live within 5 miles.
