The best restaurants in Barlaston and Oulton Stafford West Midlands

Went here for a birthday celebration. Been twice before and always really liked it. However this time service was slow, and food not good. Lamb chops were really garlicky but without anything else going for them. Had the Madras which I had before and loved but this time round I forced myself to finish. We got asked if we wanted a drink once. For the rest of the night we had to call them over for more drinks or the bill. Service wasn’t attentive at all this time round. Still pleasant and nice people. But usually I’d have stayed longer got coffees in but this was a really average experience for me that I just wanted to go.

We love coming down to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. The food vans are a great addition to the village and bring a range of food to our doorstep. Always a friendly face and warm welcome down at the Duke.

Family dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday. The food was delicious, generous and very good value. Great cocktails and wine list. A pleasure to use beautiful glassware and crockery. And we received excellent, friendly service. We enjoyed sitting under the illuminated central moon, the art work was a bonus and a tour of the building (including the 'secret bar') rounded off the evening nicely. Not just dinner - a really memorable experience!

This was my first time visiting the upper house and I went with my grandparents however we will not be going back. The interior of the place is very nice however the service is TERRIBLE. We were the only people in the restaurant which we didn’t mind as we assumed we would be served quicker. We ordered our drinks and they took 10 minutes to arrive and my Nan was served a pint instead of a half and also was given the wrong drink. We didn’t create a fuss and went ahead and ordered our food which took 1 hour on the dot to arrive. It felt like we were being forgotten in the restaurant and they were prioritising walk ins who hadn’t booked like we did. They gave us complimentary drinks because of the wait however if we knew it would’ve taken this long for a simple gammon and chips to arrive we would have never gone. When the food finally arrived after an hour it was cold. The gammon was extremely salty and inedible. We complained to the waitress who offered to bring the manager to us which we politely refused however the manager still came to talk to us even when we said we wanted to leave and not bother speaking to anyone else. The manager took £10 of the bill and said she’d speak to the kitchen however my experience here was terrible and I will not be returning ever again. Aston Marina is far better and has lovely food and service.

Disappointing end to a lovely spa evening. We booked the twilight spa with a meal in the Oak restaurant. The service is so slow here 30 mins to serve the starters and another 45 for the main dish - we've been here 1.5 hours and been offered only 1 drink, absolutely shocking service and really put me off rebooking!! The food was okay nothing special. The venue and spa are beautiful but I won't book food next time.

We entered the pub and two staff were arguing about their roles and a flippant comment of I'll see to you in a bit was aimed in our direction. We were shown to our seats in the carriage which was chilly and we nearly tripped up on a heater. The food was absolutely atrocious. Greasy, mushy battered cod for me with mushy peas and chips looked like a greasy cafe meal but tasted much worse. My husband’s steak and ale pie had 4 small bits of steak inside . My grandchild had buttery mash which was exactly like packet 'Smash' , dry and not buttery. Overall the meal spoiled our Valentines lunch. It was one big disappointment and we will not be returning. Almost £60 wasted. If you want a nice meal go anywhere else but here.
