Restaurant at Moddershall Oaks in Stafford

Wow what can I say - found this on the of chance looking g online so decided to give it a go for dinner. From the second we arrived - the whole dining experience to the minute we left everything was absolutely phenomenal. The service was outstanding and the food cooked with passion. We throughly enjoyed our evening and so reasonably priced. If we visit Staffordshire again we will certainly return here for our evening meals. Managed to have a walk around the grounds after dinner, what a man outstanding location of beauty and serenity - Congratulations on an exceptional business that focuses on first class customer service and true hospitality - Thank You

We went for a meal at the restaurant with my partner and were both really disappointed in the quality of food. The menu is presented in a very fancy way leading you to think this would be a high end gastro pub style meal or better. Yet when it arrives its tastes more like cheap 2 for £10. The starters were very basic and lacked flavour. The mains were poor quality also with the pie being very small and flavourless. It all just seemed like food you would buy at Iceland or some other cheap supermarket. They have spent more time and effort on the presentation than they have on actually making good quality restaurant standard food. Only reason why I give them 2 stars is because the staff were very friendly and setting is also very nice, but do not go here expecting big things from the food.

Just had afternoon tea again. Beautiful setting. Afternoon tea was absolutely lovely! Sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea or coffee. Will definitely be having again!

We had ‘ bought’ an evening dinner for two at a Breast Cancer auction (£200+). On ordering we were told that if we had the steak, there would be a £10 supplement per person and that any as e would also be £4 extra. Any side orders ( chips, veg etc) would be added on as would any soft drinks. The starters were minute ( smaller because of the voucher?) but the steak was fortunately excellent. Just felt the lack of any charitable intent from the restaurant…..will not rush back.

Visited for breakfast as part of a spa break. This is the first time I have had breakfast here but have visited many times previously. The breakfast was perfect in every was, the service was welcoming and very efficient and the surroundings were comfortable and very pleasant. The buffet items were lovely, good quality with lots of choice. Both hot breakfasts were very good quality and taste. Thanks to Roxy for the most perfect smashed avocado, toast and poached eggs I have ever had. Will definitely visit again, possibly just for breakfast if that is available.

Wanted to post a review as the resteraunt and staff deserve to be praised . Food for all 4 of us was lovely ,chicken and lamb shank beautiful and the decor and scenery really special Staff excellent water brought to the table in a lovely bottle with out having to ask. Plates cutlery and glasses all part of the excellent experience which you do not get everywhere . This place is a real gem and we will return

Myself and my partner came for our anniversary dinner in December and I cannot fault this restaurant. Decor was beautiful and the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. It’s so clear how much the staff care about their jobs as they made sure we had best experience possible. We were served by Jessica , her knowledge of both the drinks menu and food menu really helped and she was overall a very bubbly person and excellent server. Food was really tasty , we will definitely be coming back!!

Fabulous setting and great menu that delivers excellent food. Visited as part of our spa break so had evening meal and breakfast. Toni looked after us extremely well with friendly interactions. She recognised us from a previous visit which made feel valued

My second time visiting The Oak House. Such a lovely venue in picturesque surroundings. The restaurant is clean, modern, warm and not too loud. It's not often I'm completely spoilt for choice but on this occasion I could have asked Seb, the lovely man who took our order, to bring me anything from the menu and I'd have enjoyed it. Our wine was brought to us by Suzy, she was great fun. We had quite a laugh with her throughout the evening. They both made the evening entertaining in a light-hearted way which was very much appreciated having had a fairly stressful day. We both ordered the chicken roulade. A very well presented dish, cooked to perfection and tasted as good as it looked. We'll definitely be back.

6 of us went for 2 night stay 3/4 Nov 23 to celebrate a friends 50th birthday and from the booking in too leaving we all thought we recieved 5star treatment. Rooms modern, comfy and warm. Location was amazing only negative issue was a couple of the pool jets were not working. Would like to thank Seb and team not to mention the amazing chief (female)from the Oak House restaurant which made the stay extra special with their humour and outstanding service and nothing was to much trouble. Hope you enjoyed the birthday cake. Thanks for an amazing stay ❤️

After getting married on the Saturday at Moddershall, myself my husband and mum decided we would like to go back and have some food, booking online was easy and got confirmation straight away the table was booked, as soon as we got there we were looked after by Gemma. Gemma was so attentive, any question about food we asked she knew the answer, the food was amazing and the quality and quantity was spot on, I think due to the treatment given to us by Gemma and the quality of the food the Oak House will be our go to eatery.

We went as a party of 14 to celebrate my 75th birthday. The table was booked for 15.00 and was beautifully laid out. Meals had been pre- ordered due to the number of diners. Service was excellent with attentive and friendly staff. Everyone was very happy with their dishes - no waste at all. Have already made another booking for four people.

Suzy was amazing! So friendly and made the best margarita! Couldn’t have made our pre wedding experience better if she tried! 10/10

The food at both breakfast and Dinner were stunning. I had a burger for dinner and the meat was just beautiful! The staff are super friendly and would gladly come back again!

A superb 2 course lunch after a chilling morning relaxing in the spa. The ambience was 1st class and we had a perfect table right by the windows overlooking the gorgeous lake and woods. The food was just as expected, perfection! Served with a friendly, relaxed smile, you can tell that the staff are confident and happy in their role. Toni, who was our server, was genuinely interested in what kind of day we had had and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel special from the start of the day to finish and it meant so much as it was a long awaited mother and daughter day. Thanks a million yet again

The food and venue was lovely and the majority of staff were lovely however as we had no signal on our phone we asked if they would call us a taxi and we were told no and told to walk up the road to see if we could get a signal. Not great when we’d just spent almost £300!!!

Gorgeous setting, wonderful staff, but average overpriced food. We would definitely return to frequent the upstairs bar area but would not dine here again. Seems to me they believe the food is of a certain standard and therefore price based on this, but I have to say there were a few of us and we all thought the level was that of what we could have done at home. I don’t normally mind paying 16 pounds for a burger or however much for a bowl of pasta but I would expect this to be a really really nice one for that price. Sadly, average.

We celebrated my Mum’s birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience - the meal, location and the excellent and patient service. Thank-you Amelia ! Nothing was too much trouble as we mixed and matched from some of the food offerings, which is often frowned upon at some restaurants. First time visiting and will definitely come back !

We had an afternoon tea as a birthday treat here a few days ago. When we eventually found the restaurant (signage not clear) we were made very welcome and enjoyed excellent service. The food was presented beautifully and was very tasty. Despite it being January quite a few tables were taken, some by spa guests. The meal was not cheap, but given how much we enjoyed it we will certainly return for more treats.

Booked in advance for 4 adults and 1 child. I came here with my boyfriend for a meal as I had heard so much about the food at Moddershall Oaks. I am pleased to say I wasn’t disappointed, Food was amazing. My steak was on another level! My boyfriend had the fish and again he was so impressed. Will definitely be returning!

We dined as a group over the weekend. The venue and surroundings are lovely .... as a spa. The restaurant itself is quite average. It’s nice enough but you certainly do not go wow when you walk in. I guess it could be quite lovely and romantic if your by the bit overlooking the lake.... but we weren’t.

Just had a family meal at the restaurant the food was good and environment pleasant but whole meal spoilt afterwards by finding I had been charged £14 for two small shandies! I ordered a shandy for my father and myself. I was told they would have to do it via bottles which I thought was ok. When I checked the bill they had charged me for two bottles of beer and two bottles of lemonade coming to a total of £14. The excess was not brought to the table and it was only later that I realised the cost. Why the one lemonade could not have been split between the two or the excess beer was not brought to the table I do not understand. Shame really as I can not see myself ever going there again as a result what should have been an enjoyable experience left me feeling ripped off.

When entering we were asked our names & told where to sit while waiting. After 15 mins waiting we had to ask for a drinks menu this had not been offered, it was very laid back & spa ladies we walking past in robes & slippers at times. Our afternoon tea was very nice but again we had Prosecco for a special occasion & the waitress had never had to pour this before she apologised & did her best but more training needed for barman to make people feel that bit special. Also the bottles of wine very highly priced.

Stayed at the Spa and as part of the package we had breakfast and dinner on both days. The food and service were first class. For a small restaurant I would wholeheartedly recommend eating there.

This was the first time we had visited and were so pleasantly surprised not just about the food but also the service and amazing setting . It is rather tucked away from the main road but what a hidden gem. The staff were very welcoming, the food was amazing. I had a dish with hake and it was so tasty, with great flavour combinations. Wine selection was good too. We even had a nightcap in the bar while waiting for the taxi. Was interested to hear from Aaron the food and beverage manager about their plans and the new menu; so nice to hear people speak passionately about what they do . Well done

OK, so tell me this. If you had saved up for a treat for you and your partner. You know in advance that you're paying over the odds for a posh meal and the ambience etc.

I’ve given our visit a 3* rating totally down to the 2 members of staff that served us.

Went here for a 6 course tasting evening with paired wines for a birthday present. The whole evening was a great event, learning about new wines, the head chef telling us about the inspirations for the menu. A great show!

This restaurant, based upon this particular visit, promised much but delivered less than anticipated.

Not great for money, should be half of the cost for the facilities. Evening meal the only outstanding service on offer food was excellent. The jacuzzis are like a human soups and not even warm at best with jets not working. Rooms are ok but 100 miles from 5 star like the cost. The Elemis freebies you are promised are the shampoo miniature bottles as in the pic. The biggest weakness is its space station like setup, facilities are spread all over the place and very small when you do get there.
