Aston Marina in Stafford

We booked a private outdoor pod for a birthday celebration. The staff were really accommodating and lovely. The food was hot and some of the best food I’ve had! We loved the private pod and the ambience was great! Entire experience was fantastic! Would certainly come again!

Came here on Tuesday for light lunch. Menu was well varied and tables spotless. Food was very nice. Interior decor is good also But what gives all the stars is the waiter Adam C who was not only charming but charismatic also. Outstanding

Sadly, our recent meal at Aston Marina was a poor experience. The steak pie I ordered was underwhelming at best, chips were hard and the gravy had an odd chemically taste. The halloumi burger my partner received was also disappointing, quite bland and poorly presented. Service was below par, we had to ask for our cutlery. Such a shame because the location is great and meals from the previous year were very good.

We had a private dinning event in the Hideaway at Aston Marina, there were 17 of us for my husbands 60th birthday, everything was excellent from the booking to the event itself. Food was delicious, service was, efficient, accommodating and friendly, I felt it was very good value. I would definitely recommend it.

I've been to Aston Marina a few times but this time the food was exceptional and I really enjoyed dinner. To start I had Kimchi Fritters, which came with a great spicy sauce, then for a main I enjoyed a perfectly cooked lemon sole, the best I have had in a long time. As always it's a lovely environment and the service is incredibly good.

The latest of many visits. Very pleasant, attentive service, comfortable seating and not as noisy as many places,.so it's possible to hold a decent conversation with your meal. Food is lovely, although portion sizes aren't all that big, we had plenty of room for dessert!

The food was excellent. The staff were very attentive, we were given a jug of water when we sat down at the table and when we had finished the jug a fresh one was brought to the table. Staff were very helpful in giving recommendations and checking our queries with the chef, mainly in regards to the gluten free food options. It was my birthday and we were brought a lovely surprise birthday plate over (chocolate writing, brownie and meringue), it was a very nice surprise and made the night feel special I would highly recommend Aston Marina and will definitely be returning

Venue was great staff were fantastic but the food was very disappointing. I Expected a lot more. The quality of the food seems to have gone downhill since my last visit.

Nice food but would've liked our main meals to have been warmer. Bit of a rip off too to be charged considerably extra for basics such as Yorkshire puddings, mashed potato and cauliflower cheese etc. on a Sunday roast. Lovely place on the marina with great views and a nice atmosphere inside. Our server was a delightful young lady but our wait of around 45 minutes from placing our order was too long, we thought. Afraid we won't be going back as there are many places closer to home which are much better value for money and serve hot food with all the basics included in the price.

Used the take away menu due to restrictions. Minted lamb was excellent. Well done No. 26. Another excellent meal. Been in the new? Hideaway today. Very nice.

Great Sunday lunch in a dome by the water.

11 for Sunday lunch 23/6/24 at 1400hrs. Pre booked our order which was a positive thing for us and Aston Marina. This is the 3rd time we have eaten at this fabulous place, it’s equally distance for us in Worcester and family in Blackpool. The service and food is exceptional. Very personal when staff can name the people who’s food it is for on serving. Main courses, deserts, Mocktails and coffee. The environment is lovely. A great way to bring family together for a key note birthday of mine Highly recommended

Lovely place met with a group of 10 for birthday celebrations ordered meals and 2 were missing when brought out . Took a while to bring missing meals so most finished eating before they had there meal. Offered the 2 people a free drink but would of been nice to eat together .

Father’s Day Lunch with our daughter . Lovely welcome , seating very nice . Offered drinks we had rose and a beer . Starters Salmon , prawns salad , chicken coronation with salad, we all had the roast beef as mains . And rum babas , and meringue deserts . Coffees served outside by the marina lovely day . All staff so welcoming and attentive . Food was excellent .Father’s day menu was brilliant.

Great afternoon out of sunny stoke looking forward to going again

Went for dinner to celebrate partners birthday (restaurant not aware) me and my partner met for the 1st time at Aston marina and always said we will come for a meal one day as we both had heard amazing things about the food. We have also discussed getting married here. With the decor being very stylish and modern as we walked in, I was expecting good things. I must say I was very disappointed, I had the burger and my partner had the pie, this was from the summer menu. My partner was underwhelmed with her meal however it was satisfactory, nothing special. My meal was very poorly cooked, burger patty was dry, bun over toasted which made it dry, together with crispy bacon made for a very dry mouthful. The fries that came with the meal looked like they came from the bottom of the bag, also over cooked to the point of there being no potato left inside. We also had a side of onion rings or should I say a side of rings.....no onion to be found! The service we received was sub par, nobody came to as if our meal was OK or ask if we needed anymore drinks. As compensation for my poor meal the onion rings were removed from the bill, £4.50 from a bill that was £50+ I would have expected a 20% reduction to the bill under the circumstances. We only had mains and was planning on desserts but due to the poor main decided not too. Not a great impression, it has put us off getting married here too.

A fantastic service and lovely restaurant with amazing food. All the staff who were working yesterday morning were so accommodating, kind and considerate of my dietary restriction, even going as far as to remove allergens from the drink-making environment for me! I've never felt so taken care of or so normal at a restaurant since my dietary restriction. They have great gluten free options as well, I still had a full breakfast that was delicious.

Last night we celebrated my husband’s 50th in the hideaway, we had invited 50 people. Fabulous service from the moment I enquired to the actual evening. Special mention to Ash and Abbey who were amazing, highly recommend Aston marina.

We have recently got married at Aston Marina, We cant thank Abby, Ash, Rob and Ben enough for the day they given us. Nothing was too much and always there with a smile on there face. The perfect day at the perfect venue, We would recommend this place for anyone who wants a special day.

Only menu option for me was fish and chips as everything else on the menu contains garlic and/or mustard. Staff were lovely. Not their fault. Believe menu changing in a couple of weeks.

Food was poor my duck was very dry and the portions very small. Service is very slow. I have eaten here on a number of occasions and the standard is normal much better. Very disappointed this evening.

I went here for my sisters wedding , The place was lovely for a wedding with great views and perfect facilities for it, the staff were really nice and friendly and more than happy to help , food was great . I would definitely recommend this place for any occasion...

Simply superb, quiet, clean, first class and friendly service and the food was outstanding. Very reasonable prices for the level of quality and service. The tip was well deserved.

Great choices on the menu - including Gluten free. The food was lovely too. Excellent service. A lovely setting which has a number of places to walk to.

Friendly staff with good food.....

We ordered Caesar salad with halloumi, it was very poor, a bowl of lettuce with croutons and four sticks of rubbery halloumi on top, hardly any dressing, a very dry dish. I certainly wouldn’t recommend. Mini fish and chips were great, super setting on the marina.

The scenery was beautiful with the boats on the canal and the country side around it .

Great friendly service, diesel at a very good price. Looks like a lovely place to moor. Will try the visitor moorings and restaurant hopefully next time we pass.

Was here for a wake food and service was good

Thank you to my friends who organised this special surprise treat for my 75th birthday in one of the pods. The food was great, the staff were absolutely brilliant serving us while it was blowing a gale and hammering down, no mean feat, but they did it without one single moan, and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all so much and Aston Marina, be very proud of your staff. 👏

After a long wait for our food, the smallest of meals arrived. For example The two small pieces of duck breast were accompanied by 4 minute £2 size potato morsels and my pork boasted the thinnest carrot and parsnip I have ever seen. To be fair, after a complaint, we were offered free deserts. However, a decent sized main course would have negated the need to complain.

Very nicely presented place, and very clean. Food too expensive for what you get very small portions and to be honest I've had better food at other places at half the price, sorry to say.

We ate in a well heated dome by the water's edge on a very clod day in February 2024. The staff were courteous, friendly and efficient. The menu offered a good range of dishes and the food was truly excellent. No hesitation recommending this venue.

What an amazing time we had, the room we hired was great with plenty of seating and lovely and warm on a horrible wet evening. There were 14 family members for a birthday celebration. Plenty of parking. The staff were so attentive, regularly checking in on us , we had pre ordered, so no waiting for food to be served. Drinks were collected at the bar, and no waiting to be served. I can highly recommend Aston Marina. We will definitely be going back. Thank you for making it a special evening for our Grandson's birthday.

Staff and surroundings fabulous. We were a party of four and all ordered mini fish and chips with proper chips. When the meals came the presentation was lovely and food looked amazing. Unfortunately the chips were pretty cold and fish not great. Appeared to be frozen food. So disappointing as the actual food was poor.

I hired a dining dome for my daughters birthday at Aston Marina, I cannot fault the service we received from start to finish all my requests through the reservations team were faultless, the staff on the evening were attentive and personable.The food did not disappoint and we all enjoyed what we had. We must give a special thanks to Craig for his hospitality and personable manner. All in all a fabulous evening thank you all so much.

Shocking - we have breakfast here almost every Saturday. Last Saturday was absolutely awful. Waited over an hour for food, then the wrong order came. People complaining all around. No food seemed to be coming out of the kitchen. We left after 1hr 20 minutes having eaten nothing. Two tables around us walked out too. Absolutely abysmal.

For an Anniversary. Looking so forward to this. Very disappointed. Food was absolutely awful. The food was cold. The beef was so tough we could not cut it. Very bad. Won't go back that's for sure.

Family birthday breakfast. I booked a table online for six of us to celebrate my husband’s birthday on Saturday 10/02/24. At the time of booking I confirmed that it would be his birthday as there is an option to include any other additional information on the form? A bit disappointing, as non of the staff wished him a happy birthday so why include this on your form? Aston Marina is one of my favourite places to eat and socialise and we are fairly regular customers. The food and service on Saturday was good however, we were a little crushed where we were seated as three members of the family are over six foot tall so leg room was really compact to say the least my fault maybe for not pointing it out at the time? Overall a nice family breakfast with just a couple of niggles.

Always a good meal, plenty of choice, good service too. Not the cheapest but not too frightening either, I'd keep it for the occasional treat.

Great food and setting - thanks for a tasty meal!

We had tickets for six of us to attend the Black tie Xmas gala evening. We were looking forward to good food and apt musical entertainment. Unfortunately this was not completely the case. We arrived in our evening dress and we were greeted at the entrance with a nice glass of champagne, escorted to our table whilst a pianist was playing. The meal was lovely and the service was efficient. The catering staff were polite. But the background music from the pianist was not quite what we expected it seemed quite dull and durgish …. Anyway we anticipated that the entertainment that followed would be better. But to our dismay it was a very loud disco which played music more suited to teenagers than a cordial gala evening. We could not talk to each other because it was so loud. I am a frequent visitor to Aston Marina and always found it to be a lovely upstanding atmosphere in the daytime. So my party of friends were quite disappointed, as they expected music to suit that evening. We can boogie on down with the best of them but dressing for a gala black tie event in our minds meant more of a classic evening of music with decorum and taste. Which this was not. This experience has put us off revisiting Aston Marina in the future which is a great shame. Especially as other aspects of the evening were great.

Lovely meal with friends celebrating a birthday, sat in one of the outside domes which was very cosy and if wanted you could choose music using the Alexa provided. All the waiting staff were great and a special mention to Cameron who looked after us wonderfully.

Decided to have a breakfast en-route to a Tigers rugby match. Arrived at 10.30 order for breakfast taken very promptly, discussed my dairy intolerance. We got our Earl Grey tea 40 minutes later but still no sign of our cooked breakfast. We waited another 10 minutes, much to our amazement we weren’t even noticed, or apologised to us for the delay by that point. No one noticed evidently. So we had a word with the restaurant manager who promised to investigate. We promptly left however, hungry and frustrated and as the delay added time pressure, to what was intended to be a relaxed journey. Very disappointing - having not visited the Marina for a while and unlikely to be back again any time soon.

As usual last minute decision to treat ourselves fir a family meal. When we asked if anyone had a suggestion of where to go, everyone said Aston Marina in unison. Yet again excellent service from Fran and Caitlin, food choice and quality of the meal lovely. Simply put a great stop in a lovely spot with a great team. Obviously we will be returning again soon.

Outstanding from start to finish.

I thought the restaurant was lovely, we were seated straight away and ordered drinks, which were served prompt. They took our order almost immediately without any time to relax a bit. Perhaps i should have said to hold a while on the order. Starters came almost immediately after ordering and i can honestly say they were underwhelming. The ham hock terrine was lovely, but served with a tiny garnish, it needed bread or biscuit to provide extra texture. Just to eat a small pile of meat was not good. Hubby had the pate, which again was lovely but a tiny portion. Mains came and i had the chicken chasseaur which again was lovely but the portion was tiny, just a very very small breast, a little mash, side of bacon and mushroom bits and sauce. I demolioshed it in seconds. Hubby had the burger and he said it was one of the nicest he had. Came away not full at all. In fact at home had some cheese and piece of cake. Portion wise very poor. When i mentioned to the server that the terrine needed some bread she said she would tell the chef and others had complained. So obviously no one is listening to the customer.

Lovely atmosphere/impressed on arrival. Portions of food mostly very small - like they are trying to make it look like a fancy fine dining dish but the taste is pretty bog standard. My mussels were tiny/dry/overcooked. Our waitress was also grumpy on more than one visit to the table. Wouldn’t rush back for the food. Family who went last week prompted this review by asking us what we felt about it - they hadn’t wanted to put us off by giving their opinion since we had already booked it, but felt the same. I notice other reviews agree with us.

Had our first Christmas dinner out here today, absolutely amazing. The food was fantastic as were the staff, couldn't find one single thing that wasn't 5 Star. Loved it!

Having been Aston Marina many times In the past and it being one of our favourite restaurants we decided to go for Christmas Dinner. Havre to say I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience! For £240 for two people and a 1 year old who didn’t eat I wouldn’t class it as cheap. No glass of Prosecco on arrival we were just seated in the conservatory area to the front which suited us with a baby. The tables were decorated nicely with crackers , Santa hats etc. The service was quite good and attentive. For starters we chose the terrine which was awful. It was dry served on toasted bread with no butter and a chutney. Not tasty just a dry bland starter. For the main we choose Turkey and Gammon there was a huge amount of meat a couple of roast potatoes, stuffing and a pig in blanket , then separate dishes of just carrots and parsnips. The parsnips were a bit underdone. I like mine quite crispy. The carrots I found were quite gritty. The main was better though and we both ate it. For pudding we had the chocolate torte which was ok but I’ve had a Marks and Spencer one today at a family meal which was far superior. Then there was coffee and petite fours. We did leave feeling full and satisfied but as I said just a bit underwhelmed considering the price and previous visits. We definitely wouldn’t visit again for Christmas Dinner and had probably put me off returning in the future. The quality just seemed lacking compared to when we have visited before.

I chose the Dome DIning experience as a surprise and treat for my other half and hoped it would be perfect, and It was! I was expecting a delay as it was a friday night, but it wasn't overly busy. We arrived and were approached within a few minutes of entering the main restaurant. It wasn't long before we were taken to our Dome. The heater and music were already on, and our waitress was Molly. Molly was absolutely lovely ever so polite, just as the other waitresses were too. It was really windy, but you didn't notice it in the dome. I was a bit worried because the food would be brought from the main building and 1) would either fly off the plate or 2)be stone cold, but neither happened. We had mains and puddings. (Pictures attached) I highly recommend the apple tarte tatin Oh my frigging god that was lush. Food tasted amazing. Would definitely go back, next time a sunset dinner in the dome

My last review didn’t go through so i’m rewriting it. I ate at aston marina on the 17/12/23 for lunch me and a few on my friends went thinking it would be lovely and have a nice meal i was so wrong! After waiting to be sat and getting sat took about 10 minutes we were treated by a rude waitress called Jess, she tried to rush us through ordering and did not seem interested in serving us after waiting for 20 minutes we got our starters wich were very small i probably took one bite and it was gone we then waited another 40 minutes for our mains wich were also very small sizes all throughout this Jess didn’t check up on us and didn’t really acknowledge that we where there. The food was very expensive yet it was underwhelming and basic and tasted bland, for the price they expect customers to pay you would expect much more than a few vegetables and a small slice of turkey! We did meet a lovely member of staff called Olivia she was amazing whilst she cleared our table she was actually interacting with us and making conversation and asking what we were going over Christmas overall it was a lovely chat she got us desert menus and kept checking up on us for the rest of the meal i did ask Olivia if the service is normally this bland and she said she was new and she didn’t really how the other staff spoke to customers! Overall i think the food her is really overpriced for what you get and by the looks of it the staff that have been there and show no customer service should learn from Olivia the fact that she’s new and can be a delight to speak to really shows that the rest of the staff could learn something from that!

Wonderful meal for our 16th wedding anniversary. Fillet steak was to die for, ham hock and Irish coffee. Service is excellent and price is reasonable. Highly recommend for couples, families and large groups. What a great atmosphere, especially over Christmas.

Arrived at restaurant a lovely friendly greeting by bar staff. Front of house very friendly when showing us to table and explained menu.All I can say a fantastic experience and fantastic food.Staff spoke very highly off management would certainly visit again 🎅
