Back to the Old Gate at Heathton, after too long an absence. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and helpful staff. There’s usually six real ales on tap. The local Enville ale is worth a go. We ate Cajun Chicken, Lasagne, Steak and Kidney pie and Chicken and Ham pie. Our Granddaughter had a large “child’s Fish and Chips” which demolished. The food was well prepared and presented.

1st visit. Went for a spot of lunch today after a recommendation and was not disappointed at all. Attentive owners; lovely food/drinks; good prices. We will definitely go back soon.

I can only be honest and fair in my experience yesterday with Lizzies cafe barn. To start, before we had even entered the cafe a lady came outside to us. (To my knowledge this is the owner so I’m surprised she had confosu text herself in this way with it being her own business). We had a baby with us and she instantly said I didn’t know a baby was coming to the event. It’s supposed to be 16 adults and 2 children and that there was already 5 children upstairs.. this instantly would make anyone feel uncomfortable with a baby in arms. We took the baby out of the pram and upstairs to find there were actually 3 children so I’m unsure why the staff member had exaggerated. the space upstairs was small which was difficult to move around. Our younger family member, a small child, does have autism and did struggle with the small space so understandably she was taken outside by another family member as there was seating outside. I went downstairs to check on my family to check find a passive aggressive Lizzie making demands for my family to move from the seating. This happened on multiple ocassions. This is unacceptable. Please, if you are considering a friendly and child friendly facility please use another places such as gluttons, which isn’t to far. your children won’t be welcome. staff need additional training on how to treat customers.

I pass this many days on the way to work and yesterday I decided to stop by and get a caramel latte to go. Having never been in before, I didn’t know what to expect. I was very shocked and slightly appalled at the price and quality of the coffee. The latte was 3.75 and the caramel shot was 1.25 which I found out after ordering my drink and being shocked at the £5 charge. I waited nearly 10 minutes for the girl behind the counter to make my latte. She wasn’t in any rush. She then handed me the smallest cup of latte I have ever seen! For £5 this was absolutely ridiculous. In hindsight, I wish I’d have said something. Surely this tiny cup wasn’t £5?! Absolute rip off. I put the cup in my holder in the car and it was so small I couldn’t lift it out as it was so much smaller than the hole! 🤣 I will never be returning which is a shame as I thought I’d would be able to buy a decent sized coffee for a fair and decent price. Shockingly over priced! I could have got a larger latte for less than that from Costa or Starbucks!

A typical Brunning and Price pub, which usually means an old characterful pub and modern food, often with a twist. This fitted the bill perfectly. It's an attractive, light and airy building with several rooms, all inter-connecting but seemingly separate. The Brunning and Price bitter was on really top form and at £4.40 a pint made the Coke seem over-priced at £4. Food was very tasty and, today, shoulder of lamb at £23.95 is not excessive. A very pleasant early evening meal.
