You get what you pay for and this pub is certainly cheap for Sunday lunch. That’s where the good news ends I’m afraid. Although this is called a carvery, you have to tell the barman which (single) meat you want and it’s plated in the kitchen. There was only beef or gammon available so we both went for beef. So the plate arrives at your table and you toddle off to find the smallest vegetable cart I have ever seen with just 3 roast potatoes left and peas so dried up they were almost grey in colour. The beef (one generous slice) was as tough as shoe leather. For the first time I can remember neither of us finished the meat. I take no pleasure in leaving a poor review as I have a soft spot for this pub having been visiting in and off for over 35 years. But really, this was beyond poor, and even at £10/head, not good value.

Food was beautiful, however drinks were massively over priced. Half pint should be half the price of a pint not £1.50 extra. Food was reasonably priced.

The person I was with can only have gluten free food and drinks so as much as we love the place we ended up with chips.so if you could maybe do a gluten free meal and a gluten free beer or a gluten free wine that would be staying lovely to see all the talbot motorhomes today stopping hopefully enjoying the pub as much as we do.

Return after a year for Sunday lunch. Very disappointing. We were late eating but we had booked so we were expected. Food was not good. Beef was inedible, frozen carrots, you could cut the mash, broccoli was so full of water it was just green mush & NO roast potatoes. Such a shame as it's a lovely setting & decor is much improved. Will be a while before we return.

we came today for the carvery and was disappointed we were with it, was expecting fresh veg and fresh potatoes not frozen , also a children's ice cream at 4.50 is excessive why not half the price and portion size and make things more affordable for everyone.... is the frozen veg a normal thing on the carvery now as if it is we won't be returning 😫😭

We visited for Sunday lunch and i would definitely recommend. It was lovely to see the Boycott back to being the cosy country pub we used to know. Very welcoming and staff really pleasant and attentive. Our carvery was excellent, a choice of beef, pork and gammon, a great choice of vegetables. I really couldn’t fault it at all. We will be making a return visit very soon. If you are in the area then take the time to visit. I wish the management and staff every success and thank you for such a pleasant end to the day.

We visited the pub today after previously enjoying a lovely Sunday carvery a couple of weeks ago but what a disappointing lunch today. I had the sausage, mash and mushy peas and my husband had the cheeseburger and fries. My mash was clearly a dried potato mix and l cut actually cut it with my knife. The sausage was the cheapest sausage, possibly beef and had a strange taste. My husbands burger came as described cheeseburger but l think an odd lettuce leaf or a bit of burger sauce could have helped with this taste experience. The young man and ladies who run the pub cannot be faulted for their welcome approach and the pub itself has a lovely atmosphere especially when sitting in the bar by the fire but oh dear me please do something about the food. Just a few tweeks, a bit of butter and milk in the potatoes and a better quality sausage would have made such a difference to my meal. A bit of salad and burger sauce would have made the burger more palatable. We did feed back to the young man who served us but perhaps a bit of training on customer service wouldn't go amiss. We will try you again in the new year, here's hoping for a better experience.

Went for sunday carvery. It was quite disappointing as we all was looking forward to a good honest sunday lunch on a very cold snowy day . Meat was nice . But frozen Yorkshire puddings , frozen parsnips, frozen roast potatoes. Just a shame when the pub is in the middle of farm land . This is my review and I'm sure many others would disagree with my comments but hey ho ,

How fabulous to be able to come to the Boycott and dine inside again. It was lovely to be able to dine al fresco but the British weather doesn't always lend itself to a fantastic meal but on Friday we were given an amazing treat. My hubby and I both ordered the Cajun Chicken (extra spicy) and they were both truly wonderful, the chicken was so white and moist but the Cajun marinade was beyond belief and the hand cut chips are fantastic. There is a one way in and one way out system. Hand sanitizer everywhere. Test and Trace posters and the staff all wore masks. We felt totally safe and can't wait to return.

Having stayed in for quite a while due to covid.. we decided to venture to the best carvery/Sunday lunch in the area yesterday. Its not often lamb is on the menu elsewhere so we opted for it. It was amazing.. melted in your mouth and plenty of it. The veg was perfectly cooked and the home made Yorkshire puddings were lovely. We both ordered desserts which were piping hot with a good serving of custard. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Absolute 5 star food with 5 star service!! The staff were all friendly helpful and worked so hard and all covid rules being adhered to.. it was a pleasure to visit.

6/9/20 Booked a table for two last minute today. What a disappointment the carvery was. Lamb was tough, beef was ok, gravy pretty tasteless so needed loads of salt. Couldn’t even cut the cauliflower it was rock hard. Frozen Yorkshire and not roast potatoes at all. Find it hard to believe so many pubs and restaurants can't even cook a decent Sunday dinner. All covid precautions are really well set out, we were asked to sign in on arrival, hand sanitiser is available and when other diners left their tables (and chairs) were thoroughly cleaned with antibacterial cleaner. Despite all that, the pub managed to have a relaxed atmosphere, the food was great and the play area was lovely with loads of space for the kids to run around. Would highly recommmend.

Having read lots of great reviews we went with high expectations but our overall experience wasn’t great. The building certainly has character and is interesting, the service was friendly and welcoming and prices are very reasonable. The beer selection was disappointing and there is no wine list, just a choice of 2 red wines. Our table was in the middle of a fairly empty dining room which felt exposed and not relaxing. The pink rosy plastic table mats and the carvery clutter at the back of the room were off putting. The Stilton and mushroom starter was a strange concoction of mushrooms in a gelatinous brown sauce on soggy burned toast and a side salad. Our mains were ok pub grub. This place is alright if you just want a quick, inexpensive and filling meal.

In our quest to sample different venues for lunch, we drove over to this lovely old place last week from Telford, and it was well worth the short drive, our fish and chips were superb, only let down was that the chips were only luke warm and not piping hot ? fresh hot chips is the norm at our most used eaterie here in Madeley, Telford, however that is a minor thing and we will definitely be going back, hopefully somebody else can do the driving next time so i can sample some of the lovely ales instead of drinking cola?

Travelling through and saw this place just off a B road. Looked inviting and right from the start I was pleased I stopped. Very friendly and efficient landlord. Perfect pint of Banks Mild. Comprehensive menu with great prices. I had the faggots, chips and peas with lashings of gravy. Perfect! Good faggots and amazing home made chips. Amazing value too. I wish I lived nearer as this would be a great local as well as worth the effort for a drive out.

Visited here today with my partner, to try the Sunday Carvery, after popping in here with my mother last Friday. Friday's visit my mother had the stilton mushrooms on toast, with a side salad & a side order of beer battered onion rings. I had the pork belly with wholegrain mustard mash, peas & real pork meat gravy. Both these dishes were very tasty, & the beer battered onion rings were how I remembered them tasting years ago, light as a feather, crunchy & so tasty!

A chance visit on a Saturday night with our elderly parents. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, providing wheelchair access and setting us a table suitable for our needs. The meals were served hot and delicious, the staff attentive, we felt that we had struck gold!

Recently visited for a family meal and were warmly welcomed in this cosy old restaurant, it was obvious that in the 18 months since it was taken over as verified by the reviews the new team have turned this place into a huge success. Very friendly, chatty and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Parking and accessibility was good and looks great from the outside, inside is a log fire and good decor throughout. The menu is perfect for all tastes and the service excellent. Food was superb and enjoyed by all and we will be returning. Please read recent reviews for a better picture as the bad ones are from previous managers time there. A must visit place....and you will not be disappointed!!!

OMG. Why didn't I know about this pub sooner! Hubby took me out for lunch. The carvery is the best that I have ever tasted. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were so attentive and the landlady made the time to stop and chat despite the place being so busy. Luckily I reserves a table in advance as people were waiting for tables. Being so busy just shows that people are willing to travel to a pub out of town. Can't wait to book again for Sunday lunch. To all of the staff - thank you thank you for making our first visit so wonderful. Regards Nikki

Just been to the Boycott Arms for the first time following a half 2 reservation. What a fantastic Carvery. The Roast Lamb was beautifully tender and plentiful. The vegetables were fresh and nicely cooked and we were well looked after without being hassled. A real jewel in the crown. Strongly recommended and if the news of this place continues to spread...... one word of advice..... BOOK! To avoid disappointment.

This time for our weekly lunch we returned to The Boycott. This is a large, old building with thankfully very little modernisation; the bar area still has its dark wood panelling which is totally in keeping with the plain wood tables. Since the change in management the food and atmosphere here has improved enormously, and we eat here quite often. There is a large menu and also a specials board placed next to the bar, or if there is a variation that you would like then the chef is very accommodating. On this occasion 2 of us had a ham bun and salad, and the ladies ordered pie of the day and belly pork respectively. As usual the service and food was first class, with the customary large portions so if you are not a hearty eater then take a doggy bag, or perhaps opt for a light bite. There are no negatives here, the prices are exceptional for the quality and amount of food, especially for this area.

Visited this lovely country pub following recommendations from neighbours. The menu is small but full of home made dishes. As a group of 4 we enjoyed chicken and Stilton pie and vegetables, gammon, sweetcorn, chips and pineapple, chilli con carne and a really meaty pork chop, chips and peas. Really good home cooked food so much better than the normal pub grub. It also means the menu changes regularly. Sensibly priced making eating out a pleasure. Desserts just had to be tried. The whisky bread and butter pudding was suitably named and the apple crumble with custard was a winner too. The Sunday roast advertised at £9.30 will have to be tried another weekend. Delicious home cooked food is always so much better than bought in dishes. We praised the chef and June for a lovely warm welcome and a great meal.

The cafe is efficiently run and we enjoyed the rooftop seating in the sun today. Unfortunately the scone was stale. Quite a shocker for me! What a shame :(

I must echo the views of others. A really lovely restaurant spoiled by sparrows landing on the the table where cakes are being cut and on uncleared tables. Very unhygienic - there must be a way to stop them coming into the tearooms. Never encountered it anywhere else. Health and safety would have a field day!
