I can only be honest and fair in my experience yesterday with Lizzies cafe barn. To start, before we had even entered the cafe a lady came outside to us. (To my knowledge this is the owner so I’m surprised she had confosu text herself in this way with it being her own business). We had a baby with us and she instantly said I didn’t know a baby was coming to the event. It’s supposed to be 16 adults and 2 children and that there was already 5 children upstairs.. this instantly would make anyone feel uncomfortable with a baby in arms. We took the baby out of the pram and upstairs to find there were actually 3 children so I’m unsure why the staff member had exaggerated. the space upstairs was small which was difficult to move around. Our younger family member, a small child, does have autism and did struggle with the small space so understandably she was taken outside by another family member as there was seating outside. I went downstairs to check on my family to check find a passive aggressive Lizzie making demands for my family to move from the seating. This happened on multiple ocassions. This is unacceptable. Please, if you are considering a friendly and child friendly facility please use another places such as gluttons, which isn’t to far. your children won’t be welcome. staff need additional training on how to treat customers.

We had noticed the signs to Lizzie’s Cafe and decided to investigate. We were not disappointed. Although it is small, it does seat 18 downstairs and there is also upstairs seating and outside ( if the weather is fine of course). The menu is quite extensive although we only sampled the fruit scones which were served warmed with a choice of butter, cream or jam. It is all very clean and absolutely delightful. I

I visited after seeing signs near the cafe and then looked at Tripadvisor reviews so decided to try it. I don’t think the reviewers had breakfast here - the breakfast was very poor IMO the bacon was barely cooked with the rind uncooked, sausage was very low meat content and the egg was not runny. It was cheap but I’d pay more to actually get a proper “breakfast of champions” unlike what was served. I don’t like giving negative reviews but I don’t think I’m doing the public a service if I lied. By all means try for yourselves then review.

Visited Lizzie’s for the first time today; despite a busy lunchtime rush we received a warm welcome by very friendly staff and chose from a lovely selection of lunches hot & cold. The food was fresh and arrived quickly, and when it started raining (we originally sat outside) we were helped to quickly get resettled at a cosy indoor table. What a totally lovely place, we will definitely be back (with books to add to the library upstairs to raise money for Alzheimer’s support). Thanks to the Lizzie’s team! 🍰

First time at Lizzies and it won't be the last. Family birthday breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Food was gorgeous, staff friendly and efficient. Atmosphere in the lovely countryside, near home makes it top of the list for future bookings. Keep up the good work. Ten 🌟 all round.

Bad experience I booked my cycle group in for coffee etc today, had hopes that this would become a regular stopping place for our group. Felt a little odd when we were shown a ‘yellow card’ by the owner, ‘angry’ Liz, that we shouldn’t even think about consuming our own food - unnecessary in my book. One of our group missed the warning and was guilty of the heinous crime of munching on a bar - she has special dietary requirements. ‘Angry Liz’ went ballistic proceed to bawl out a lady of senior years for the ‘offence’. Well, as a ride leader I won’t be booking us in again. Maybe when Liz comes down off the ceiling she might reflect on her anger issues and wonder if that is the best way of treating anyone, let alone potential future customers.

The food is so nice, prepared in sight so I could see you how fresh everything was, the cakes are to die for, so much choice and the afternoon tea looks lovley. Breakfast is absolutely yummy. Have been coming here for over a year and their Panang curry is the best! Portion sizes are generous for price - we always have enough leftover for a good size meal the day following. Staff is friendly too

We've just returned from an over night stay. This is a lovely place to stay. Friendly. We paid for breakfast and it was very nice. Well presented. Only down side was we stayed in the Westgate room and it smelt of smoke. Someone had obviously been smoking out of the window. Definetly will return just in better weather. We stayed Sat 7th Dec with all those gales. Not a long walk into Town. But it was on that night due to the weather.

We had our works Christmas do here for 30+ people and we stayed the night. Front of house staff were lovely and welcoming, but that is all I can really say nice about our stay. Our room was like something out of the 70/80s very twee and old-fashioned. Quilt cover had a rip in it. Bath looked old, faint smell of cigarette smoke. No soap, shower gel etc in the bathroom - to help save the planet apparently - you could request some at reception. We were woken about 6am by what I assume was some kind of water cistern behind one of the bedroom walls that sounded like a plane going over head. The party. Arrival time was stated as 7pm and most (about 180) turned up about then. We were all crowded into the bar which wasn't big enough and soon warmed up to a very uncomfortable temperature. They eventually let us in at 8pm. Drinks were astronomically expensive - £7.50 for a pint £8.20 for a Baileys or a large glass of wine (£25+ by the bottle) and £7.20 for a pint of coke!!!. The main course wasn't served until after 9pm and my beef was dry and tasteless, though others who had the turkey said it wasn't bad. And my Xmas pudding was dry too. All in all not somewhere I would ever go again and certainly don't know where it gets it 4 star rating from. I did voice most of my complaints to reception before leaving.

Nice little country pub. Friendly staff. Had Sunday Lunch and the food was very good. Amount of meat that came with the roast pork was more than expected and well cooked. A few things were forgotten with the meal which was disappointing but staff soon sorted. Will return to try on a week night. Update 9th June 24: have returned on a number of occasions now, on different days and different times, and each time the quality of food has been consistently good. Enough variety of meals that most people will find something they like. Update 20th November: still a very positive review. Food is consistently good quality and staff are all very friendly and helpful. Good value for money.
