We came to town on holiday and stopped at this cafe that said non profit, so as we were hungry we decided to have the breakfast, well I can honestly say DO NOT HAVE ONE. The toast was rock hard the sausage were warmed up, the butter was like water and beans were dry, I left mine but my husband struggled and NO one asked why I didn't eat it. And to top it all it cost £28 for two drinks and 2 breakfast and if that's None profit there is something wrong, will never go here again

Fantastic coffee house right in Shrewsbury town centre. Amazing quality coffee and food, ideal for lunch and the staff are so nice. I also love what Palmer’s do in the community, they care for the homeless, have a pay it forward scheme that helps support them and have a charity quiz night on the last Thursday of every month for their homeless charity, Kyle’s Home. Just beautiful

Definitely a good quality coffee shop. They have two rooms of seating indoors, as well as seating outdoors weather permitting. The general atmosphere of the cafe is very friendly and sociable. There is a great selection of drinks as well as homemade snacks which are beautifully displayed on the counter. Don’t be fooled that this is only a Community Cafe. The fact that they are a Community Cafe, means that they are supporting a local community that will generally be unseen or ignored by society, such is the way of things these days. They are clearly providing a service & supporting an element of the population, & doing some fantastic work. Yes, I appreciate that this all sounds a bit patronising, but I assure you, this is meant with a 100% sincerity. Anyway, freshly made sandwiches & coffee that was better than most pubs & restaurant’s we have visited. Highly, highly recommended.

I have visited with my friends twice now. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. I have had a ham and salad bap and lemon drizzle cake which was lovely. I think it would be better if the tables were numbered so you could say your table number when you order. The staff seem to be wandering around to find the right people to give there food/drink. First time i was asked where i was sat and second time was given a spoon with a number they were still wandering around

Decent food, good selection of drinks, helpful friendly staff and a pleasant airy building. My only niggle is the hot drinks, surely the mainstay off any cafe? First the cappuccinos. Instead of being frothy, creamy and hot as they’re supposed to be, Each time they've been flat, lukewarm, bitter and not worth the £2.95 price just for the ‘regular’ size. My friends’ latte and flat white both had more froth! So next time, I decided instead to play safe with a pot of tea. To Palmers' credit, they did use loose leaf tea In an infuser teapot, but there insufficient tea leaves were used, nso it was like weak dishwater even after infusing for quite a while. It just seems like a lack of staff training, especially in the case of the cappuccino.

The cakes and coffee are great. My visit today was disappointing. I ordered my usual and sat down to enjoy my break.I was halfway through my meal when a couple arrived with two dogs and sat at the adjacent table. The odor from the dogs was less than pleasant, I am a dog lover and was not too concerned. However, what happened next did concern me.A man arrived with his rather large dog and duly sat at a table. After a while the dog made a mess on the floor, the man went to the service counter and asked for some cleaning material, he was handed a large length of paper toweling and proceeded to clean up the mess. Astonishingly the bunched up toweling was placed on the table which I found abhorrent and disgusting. Was that table cleaned sufficiently for the next customer?? Will I visit Palmers again I am not so sure.

This cafe occupies the ground floor of a converted church (the upper floor is now a meeting room) in central Shrewsbury. The menu is not fancy, but if all you want is a sandwich, a bowl of soup or a pot of tea, then I can recommend it as they do this well. The place is dog-friendly too - and anyone who likes dogs must be nice people in my book! :-) The whole place is run not-for profit with proceeds going to charity, so you can eat there and know your are helping a local charity.

This is a superb wee cafe! I popped in for a quick coffee after a morning walk, and immediately felt it was a very comfortable place. It's central in Shrewsbury, nice and bright with friendly, helpful staff. Once I was settled, I noticed a couple of different things. Firstly, it's entirely not-for-profit, supporting charities which support trafficked women. Secondly, they have a "Pay It Forward" scheme, where you can pay for a tea, coffee or food which is then available to the homeless or socially disadvantaged who can "pick up" whatever you've bought. So if you like amazing coffee and baking, and also supporting ethical and socially advantageous projects, this is an inspiring place to go!

Whilst visiting my sister in Shrewsbury a couple of weeks ago, we went for a walk the one day and met up with our dad the next day. Both days we stopped off at Palmers for something small to eat because my sister recommended it, and it was fab! I had the full ham and cheese panini both days, which comes with a small salad and a handful of crisps (just what I’d hoped for). I also had the chocolate brownie the one day and again, this was delicious! Things I loved about the visit: the quirky colourful crockery helped give the place character. The fact that well-behaved dogs are welcome. The ‘pay it forward’ scheme, which means you can buy food and drinks for a homeless person who might need it. The free wifi. Incredibly friendly staff.

I really wanted to give Palmers a good review. After all, how many not for profit coffee houses are there in the town? A great idea and the coffee is excellent, smiling staff and great cakes - BUT - over £4 for a takeaway soup?? Not even a good quality roll with it - just some very poor quality sliced bread. Sorry but that is just not going to compete with the good quality take away lunch places in town. This is a great facility but prices like that are just not competitive. Sorry :(

The town's fortunate to have a few independent coffee shops already and this is another good alternative to the bland chain outlets. It's welcoming, clean and is run with a social conscience. Proceeds are shared with good causes and the furniture and even some of the glasses are up-cycled. On the basis of one Americano I can't rave about the quality but it was fine and served with a smile. This will be a regular stop.
