Best coffee in Shrewsbury (as an Australian I'm a hard marker) but the food is also beyond what you'd expect from it's location out of the town centre. The service is always friendly yet efficient, it's ever updated tapas always has variety, great flavour, and the entire experience is a testament to an owner operated restaurant. It's delicious and delightful. A recent name change hasn't diminished the experience.

The Olive Grove (formerly Olive Tree/Bevans) is doing tapas again (friday and saturday evenings and wed-sat lunch times) and they are fantastic and very reasonably priced. So good we came back for brunch - an amazing selection of dishes, as well as the breakfast usuals, all cooked to perfection. All this and the best Mediterranean back garden, full of olive trees!

September 24 update -old reviews below- Olive Tree became Bevans and is now Olive Grove!! They reopened this week so we popped by on a Saturday afternoon to try out the new menu I wasn't convinced that the menu really knew what it was supposed to be and there was a mixup in that the larger plates are available after 4pm. However Sam was as helpful as always and let us mix and match from the evening and daytime menu anyway. Food was really terrific! The standout dishes for us were the chorizo vino, whipped feta and hot honey chorizo flat bread and the spiced belly pork, all of which were fabulous. I'd give an honourable mention to the halloumi fries which were also really good, I'm not usually a fan of them but these were demolished in no time. The Moroccan slaw was comparatively a bit boring. To finish up we had some flapjacks, which looked a little small and a bit too healthy for their own good but actually were spot on. We even grabbed a couple of bags of tomatoes from the 'provisions' fridge All in all it's great to see a new menu and a breath of life in the place. It's not gone back to being the Olive Tree but it is a bit more like that sort of thing If they could just bring back the chicken livers it would be perfect We were fans of the Olive Tree and we are even bigger fans of its new image as Bevans. Stopped off for a quick bit of lunch and were only planning on having a main, however the starters were so intriguing we had to go for them too. Food was all terrific, the pie was absolutely top notch. Honestly couldn't fault it, even the mushy peas were old school, soaked overnight type that you just don't see any more. We stopped off a second time for a few pints, parked up in the window to watch the world go by. We didn't eat on the second occasion but did nose at what others were having. Some brilliant smells, golden brown pies, crispy looking fish and chips etc Really looking forward to my next visit

We travelled from Oswestry in search of a restaurant that caters for our clan (meat eaters, vegetarian and vegan). We were greeted with a warm welcome from Mike who took our drinks order. Emily, who attended to our orders and further drinks was attentive, polite and helpful with our queries about our dietary needs. Nothing was too much trouble and service with a smile. The food was beautiful and substantial for the hearty appetite. One of our clan had to take home a doggy bag. Although I’m not vegetarian, I was tempted by the options. Our plates were emptied. The lightness of the pastry on the pie I ate was wonderful and packed full of tasty goodness. The puddings…oohh!! Yum, yum, yum. The sticky toffee pudding my hubby devoured licking his lips then found out it was vegan. His only words ‘loved it!’ Reasonable priced, all homemade and would recommend to anyone, so worth our 40 mile round trip. We will be returning in the near future. Recommend booking.

Staff were all lovely and it has a good setting, but we were very disappointed by the food and sadly no member of staff came by to ask how we were finding it to be able to say something at the time. Perhaps it was just our choices (sea bass with an entire plate of beige - needs some colour, and sirloin which was small, thin, over tenderised and dry despite asking for medium rare and undercooked wedges and roasted root veg) as the pies looked good on the next table (though comments were made about too much pastry). We heard this as our table was way too close to the next one and it was difficult for us all to pretend we couldn’t hear every word. Staff were lovely but not attentive, no one asked if we wanted more wine despite our empty glasses. I’ll go back and try their fab range of toasties and maybe a pie but go elsewhere when I’m craving a good steak.

Our recent visit to BEVANS Neighbourhood Kitchen and Bar was nothing short of amazing. We opted to sit in the rear garden in one of the pods, and it was a picturesque setting, adorned with beautiful lights and perfectly warmed by the infrared heater. This spot is especially convenient if you're planning to visit the Severn Theatre. What impressed us further was their attentiveness to showtimes; if you're heading to a performance, just let them know, and they'll ensure you're finished in time. The food itself was great, offering excellent value for money. Overall, our experience at BEVANS was delightful, and we highly recommend it, especially for a charming pre-theatre meal.

Wow - The Olive Tree is a great place. Ate here for the first time prior to seeing Tim Vine at Theatre Severn last night. From the moment we walked through the door the whole experience was an absolute pleasure. A very warm welcome at the bar, a lovely attentive waitress who clearly knew the menu well, and great seats outside enjoying the September evening sun. The tapas was faultless, piping hot, well presented, and very tasty. All accompanied by very well kept beers. We were all pleasantly surprised when we get the bill - far less than we were expecting. All in all a brilliant experience at a very reasonable price. We'll definitely be back.

Obsessed with this place, it’s currently my favourite place to eat in Shrewsbury, especially in the summer in the courtyard - it feels like you’re in Spain! Their hummus & patatas bravas are both amazing and a must to get every time. I would also recommend their meatballs and broccoli (if they have it as they change their veg options on the menu weekly). Average selection of drinks, the sangria is ok but not strong enough for my liking 😜 A must to visit if in Shrewsbury and you like tapas! Definitely need to book in advance.

Had Sunday lunch here. Staff were so friendly and helpful, squeezing us in at the last minute. The roast was delicious! And they were happy to make up a vegetarian option for 2 of our children. The puddings were amazing and big portions... If you get the chance to try the bara brith bread and butter pudding you really should! Highly recommend.

The only downside of our visit was that although we booked last Thursday and had evidence on our phone , when we arrived they didn’t have us booked in . Not a problem on a Wednesday evening but could be an issue on a busy Saturday. Every thing else was great. Lovely setting, relaxing atmosphere great decor. Staff were friendly and the service was good. We had mushrooms , pate, cod , chicken , cheesecake and affogato, all tasty well cooked and nicely presented. Really enjoyed it and will definitely visit again.

Lovely, hideaway eatery! Great service in an amazing old school house. Awesome food at reasonable prices and caters for most dietary requirements. Also dog friendly!

Working local to Weston today , decided to treat my son to a bit of lunch . We both opted for the Peri Peri Chicken ,he had wings and I had thighs . We chose skin on fries and slaw , oh my goodness is all I can say to describe our meal . I’m so glad we hadn’t got a lot to do this afternoon, both full up with good quality and tasty food . Excellent service and very friendly staff at this venue. We have had a great breakfast in the past , only thing now is to try a Sunday roast . We have had good recommendations about the roast.
