Really nice evening meal with family. We each had something different and everything was great. Excellent service from friendly and efficient staff.

If you want pasta, this is the place to go. I was hoping to order pizza, but it wasn't on the menu. The service is good, despite it being quite busy, my food was ready in 10 minutes, which is pretty fast. And the staff is friendly.

Lovely place to eat food excellent

We pre ordered as we were part of a large group which made the service easier.

The food was acceptable, nothing out of the ordinary (shame the chef smothered the bread in sauce for both starters turning them very soggy) but the experience was let down by the service. Whether it was because they were busy but the service was completely lacking. We only saw our waitress to take our order, deliver food and to tell us that the bill included a 10% service charge. The water we asked for never materialised, she didn't know if the carbinara contained cream (it did unfortunately) and after the first drinks order, we weren't asked if we wanted anything else... such a shame that the expectations didn't match the reality...

The atmosphere was incredible, it was absolutely buzzing and there was a queue out the door. The service was brilliant for how busy it was and the food was incredible. Shame we are not local as I’d eat here every weekend.

La Piazzetta is an absolute gem in Shrewsbury, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service that truly made us feel welcome. The staff went above and beyond, particularly the lovely waitress who surprised us with a tremendous Dark and Stormy cocktail—despite it not being on the menu. They absolutely nailed it! The food was phenomenal. We enjoyed every dish, starting with the superb nibbles and starters like the creamy goat’s cheese gratin, perfectly cooked garlic mushrooms, crispy halloumi fries, and succulent king prawns. For mains, the chicken and mushroom farfalle was indulgent and flavorful, the spinach and ricotta tortellini was delightful, and the steak tagliata and belly pork were cooked to perfection. Every bite was a testament to the kitchen’s skill and attention to detail. The restaurant itself is beautifully spaced out, with a cosy yet vibrant ambience that adds to the dining experience. The drink selection is also impressive, catering to a variety of tastes. La Piazzetta truly exceeded our expectations, and the staff’s dedication to delivering an unforgettable evening deserves high praise. We’ll certainly be back soon!

Always warm in the coldest of weather. The food is excellent. This is a well run friendly establishment with great views out onto the square. Never had a bad meal here.

Food was great but the male greeter/maitre de was incredible obnoxious and arrogant Avoid if you enjoy great service cos the foods nice but that man was disgusting!!!!

My husband and I have been here many times and have always enjoyed it and had a lovely meal and great service apart from today. It was busy, understandably as it’s the run up to Christmas but the service was terrible, we were greeted by a very rude presumably manager. He whisked away our menus before we had even finished ordering, left our drinks on the bar until they were cold when we received them and just then put them on the table without even acknowledging us. It made for an uncomfortable experience Food was nice though but there are other lovely restaurants in Shrewsbury so won’t return in a hurry.

First visit and really liked the menu. Food was delicious and staff were attentive. Really nice atmosphere and we will come back. We had pate ( really good) and for main spaghetti marinara and ricotta ravioli. Too full to have desert. Would really recommend. Price was good too.

Amazing restaurant, been here quite a few times and have loved the atmosphere, food and service every time. Was served by Alex today and he did such an amazing job, he was polite and friendly. Definitely going to be coming back lots in the future and would recommend anyone else to come here too. Lots of vegetarian options too!

Just been in with my wife for a meal. First time here. Lager was rank as it looked like pipes had seen days of use without being cleaned-lager tasted dirty as a result. Then they brought me the wrong meal out. My wife had her meal which was OK and we both had a rocket and tomato side salad. The salad had one and a half cherry tomatoes in each one. This was not enough. Then after taking two bites of my meal and saying to my wife I think this is wrong, I went and looked at the menu to make sense of it. It was wrong. The waitress asked me if I wanted to continue to eat the meal they had brought out or have it changed. What? That’s like saying we know you ordered fish and chips but here is an omelette will that do. The replacement meal came after my wife had finished her meal. So I had to eat on my own. Then at billing they asked us to pay full price. We are away for the weekend, so I said to the waitress you give me my Friday evening back so I can eat with my wife and I will pay for my meal. She then became a bit obtuse arguing that she had asked if all was OK about 2mins after the meal was delivered and we said yes. At that time I had had one bite and told my wife something was not right but I was not sure. I had to check the menu to make sure it was their mistake and not mine before I complained. The waitress was rude, pushy and just downright out of order. When I refused to pay she got the manager who said he could not remove the food order but as a sign of goodwill remove a drink. Shocking. I am 56 and never complain. I just think things need to be done correctly. The place was rammed and the food came quicker than a fast food place which was a warning so we should have just legged it. Seems this town needs a few more good eateries.

We found a lil gem here . Id seen the website and we went to find. A lovely warm welcome by staff. Felt warm and inviting when we walked in A lovely table by the window. Waitor advised us re the Cocktails & 3 ordered. Wow, the food superb. Two had the Steak & fabulous Sauces. I had a huge Chicken Milonaise, A big Seafood Linguine too. All piping hot & tasted delicious.

Myself and my girlfriend are on a two day trip to Shrewsbury from Bournemouth and popped in tonight, food was excellent and the service great, friendly staff so highly recommended

Went for lunch and we all had excellent meals including the steak sandwich. Service was great. Servers were all friendly, helpful and attentive. Prices were all very reasonable as well for the location.

Enjoyed my meal but it would have been improved had it hotter, only just passable. Didn't complain but informed the waitress.

Food was very slow..about 30 minutes for the food to arrive..the waiters never informed us of the delays nor enquired if we needed more drinks..best bacon though..my beans were ice cold..felt like it was not defrosted correctly

First visit. Food very good. Service good. Atmosphere spoiled by the smell of their refuse bins permeating into the eating area. It was worse when going to the toilets and to discover the bins were in the corridor. Doesn't make us want to visit again.

The porchetta and chicken liver parfait are the best; staff are very attentive and friendly.

Perfect Lunch and really nice service, had the Tuscan Chicken liver parfait for a light lunch and it was fantastic and super tasty, highly recommend this restaurant.

Always great food here. Having visited at all times of day. Breakfast is a good selection, not all the standard dishes, but extra ones too. Lunch, a light bight ir larger meal, and dinner..... All great quality with good, friendly service.

I Had a 2 course meal using a Groupon deal, the food was very tasty & well presented but the portions were just too small, I even ordered a side order of garlic bread when my main arrived because I knew it wasn't going to fulfill my appetite but the side order of garlic bread wasn't worth the £3.95 they charged & was very disappointing. The staff were all very pleasant & helpful, but I won't be returning. I know when you go on a Groupon deal your not paying the full price & not to expect the same as a full price meal but I don't expect to leave a restaurant after a 2 course meal & still be hungry.

Went in this morning for breakfast . My husband had poached egg on toast which was fine i ordered granola and yogurt .. there was a full bowl of granola and maybe a small tablespoon of yogurt top it was dry snd made me cough … no one came over to ask if everything was ok .. we paid the full bill and told her i had left it explained that yogurt and dry granola need to be layered

Fantastic Italian restaurant in the middle of Shrewsbury with great friendly staff. Sit outside in the sun or indoors. A high table option in the middle that I prefer. Antipasto to share is lovely, with a selection of cured meats, olives, salad, liver parfait, chutneys and breads. Goes very well with a selection of red or white wines, maybe your choice is bubbles. Great value for money, great atmosphere and brilliant choice for either lunch or dinner. If you're feeling full, just pop in for a lovely coffee and a cannoli.

Beautiful place, amazing and friendly staff. Welcomed our Labrador even gave her some little treats. The coffee is lovely and would recommend the lemon and blackberry cake it was delicious.

We visited on a Sunday as a family. Food was quite nice, especially the mains - mushroom risotto and king prawn linguini. However, service was the opposite, they were clearly overwhelmed and very slow. We waited 30min between starters and mains and had to ask several times for the dessert menu. When we asked for the bill, they included 10% service and the waiter, a very young guy, asked that if we wanted to we could remove it. I said yes. Just after that he said that it was not possible on the card machine so after paying he would remove it on the till from our bill and we would not be charged. We have been charged anyway - never again.

The food it's amazing, staff friendly and helpful

A very popular restaurant, ran by the same local owners responsible for two other sister restaurants in Shrewsbury town centre. Location-wise, you will find anywhere better. La Piazetta overlooks Shrewsbury's Old Market Square (and Hall), thus making it absolutely perfect for people-watching. There are tables (with accompanying service) directly outside the frontage and Shrewsbury's museum and tourist information centre is right next door. Great for Italian-themed cuisine rather than stereotypical pizzas or lasagnas. The staff are pleasnant, helpful, understanding and will always greet you at the door. The food is prepared with incredible quickness. This restaurant is kind enough to cater for local, small groups that regularly meet there in quieter times even if it just for a coffee/cake/light breakfast snack. I really want to keep this to myself but the Chicken Milanese is beyond belief. It tates of paradise and you accompany it with fries, you'll not need another meal for 72 hours if you manage to consume everything. Consistency and dependency is paramount at La Piazetta. You can really upon a pleasant experience, no matter what time of day, who is preparing the food and who is serving it. It's a venue you'll return to, I guarantee.

Wonderful evening spent in this restaurant. The staff were so helpful and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for us. The starters and mains were so delicious and all of us enjoyed our evening, we will definitely return.

This is my favourite Italian in Shrewsbury. Every dish I have had there has been delicious! Good, hearty, tasty fare, made with the love and attention to detail you would find in Italy. I especially enjoy their beef bolognaise and bread and butter pudding! Their wines are also good quality.

Love this restaurant just wish they hadn't changed the chicken milanase it was beautiful with the mushrooms and sauce

Lovely lunch today. I highly recommend the spinach and ricotta tortellini, it was delicious.

Steak came sliced up as if I was a 4 year old,and consequently cold. The only place I have ever been to do this. Please stop!

Not a bad meal but nothing special. Our starters were forgotten so we ended up having them with our main dishes. My partners wine glass had lip stain on them. Dessert menus were given on request but then we seemed to be forgotten about. Then I see that they had the cheek to add on a 10% service charge to the bill. Why do restaurants do this? Are staff not being paid to serve the customers? We are not in the USA, tipping should be optional if the experience has exceeded expectations.

The restaurant is lovely and comfortable. Tried king prawn as an appetizer and mushroom risotto as main course. They are all brilliant. The two stars are for them. But the kids menu is really disappointing. No meat and vegetables. Pasta, drink and a pack of bread stick. £5.95 to £6.95 each, not worthy. The taste of pasta is not good, my kids didn’t like them at all. Pomodoro pasta is acceptable. Creamy pasta tastes awful. My girl refused to finish them and passed to me. Me and my girl have stomachache after home. Sigh…..😔 The restaurant is very nice and comfortable. Tried the prawns as an appetizer and the mushroom risotto as a main course. They are all delicious. These two stars are given to them. But the kids menu was really disappointing. No meat or vegetables. Pasta, drinks and a pack of breadsticks. At £5.95 to £6.95 per serving, not worth it. The pasta tasted bad and my kids didn't like them at all. Tomato pasta is acceptable. Creamy pasta tastes terrible. My daughter refused to finish the meal and gave it all to me. Then my daughter and I came home with stomachaches. Sigh...😔

Called in today for lunch with my husband. Brilliant food, amazing staff and lovely surroundings. Will certainly be back.

Had a mediocre starter and waited for 30 mins for the main course only to be told that they missed our order. By then, it was already 2.30pm so we left feeling hungry. The flat white coffee I had was also not great. They did apologize but still we were charged the starter and coffee in full. Don't think I will ever go back again

Nice location on The Sq (Square). Really nice interior, very comfortable and atmospheric. Staff were helpful and worked as a team from owner to new starter. The food was so flavoursome and a bit different to the norm. When in Shrewsbury do not miss this lovely restaurant. I will call to make a reservation next time I am in lovely Shrewsbury!!

Went today for lunch, food was ok but not great. Carbonara was bland, the Margherita pizza was pretty average and I don't think it was freshly made on site. Steak was very good. Service was great One other thing to mention is the cheap menus that we were given, the main menu was laminated and sticky, the lunchtime specials menu was stained, creased paper and just pretty grim. Pretty disappointed overall with a hefty £80 lunch for 3 people, just food and soft drinks

A really nice place. Had a very enjoyable lunch with family. I had the Halloumi sandwich. It was a bit on the small side for me. My wife’s gnocchi was fantastic!

Lovely place. Delicious food and good sized portions. Nice music, quiet enough to have a proper conversion. Very attentive and friendly service. Not cheap not expensive, roughly £20 per person, but felt good value and the whole experience was lovely. Food took a little while (25 minutes or so), so maybe not the best if you're in a rush, but if you're not in a hurry then it's a good sign because good food isn't fast food.

Long wait and terrible pancakes. We waited 30 mins for cold pancakes and a ham and cheese croissant. We couldn't finish the pancakes as the "chocolate" was a horrible tasting brown syrup. Apart from the wait the service was fine and the setting is nice.

Popped in last night after seeing the New Bob Marley film and we weren't disappointed. We both ordered off the specials menu. I had the sirloin steak with crayfish and my wife had the cod with pesto risotto. The food was lovely and service great.

Absolutely loved this gem of a restaurant! Called in for a quick lunch while Christmas shopping, and was so surprised by the quality and service that we are already planning a return visit and have recommended to several friends! The staff were so friendly and helpful, very attentive! We had the seafood sharing platter, and wow! Highly recommended to seafood lovers ! Bread basket was lovely, and the sweet potato fries were the best we have ever had! The kids' menu had a great choice, and the portion sizes were amazing! More than enough to fill up our 12 year old! Looking forward to our next visit!

Wonderful meal not cheap but worth every penny

Came here New Year's Eve for a meal with the family and it was utterly delightful. Did my normal test: one not on the menu, one half the size and one heavily modified. All of them were fantastic and absolutely delicious 😋 Every dish was cooked bespoke and really fresh. Will be coming here again.

Nice spot and good atmosphere. Food was okay. Starters and dessert very good, main (steak) was small and also, weirdly, came sliced up. Was a bit tepid. Service not the best. We had to ask to order starters / mains / drinks and then again for dessert. Was proper busy in there though, so no dramas.

Fantastic experience here this evening. My partner and i visiting Shrewsbury for my birthday weekend and were in search of an authentic fresh Italian meal, we were not disappointed. This is a busy restaurant and for good reason, it is well worth the wait. From the second we entered there was a warm reception and all members of the team were friendly and delivered great service, even though they were rushed off their feet. We had starters of Mushroom Brushetta and Calamari, followed by main courses of Chicken/Mushroom Farfalle and the Porchetta. Finally for desert my partner had the Bread and Butter Pudding. The food was exceptional and we will definately return when visiting again. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Really friendly staff, slow service and bang average food. A watery flavourless risotto which I tried to finish but lost interest after a few spoonfuls. It didn't taste of anything and it didn't have a decent cohesion or consistency. Sweet beans on crostini for the starter. Finished it but wasn't great. Overall very disappointing. Needed more flavour and finesse for each dish. Again, nice staff, good location but needs improvement to match a 4.7 Google review...

We loved it! It was our go-to restaurant in Shrewsbury when it was Carluccio's as it has a special meaning. We continued to go when it changed hands but noticed that the service was getting poorer. They need to be more attentive to every guest. When they are, I will revert my service stars to 5. Will give it one last chance.

Friendly, welcoming place to be. One of the places in Shrewsbury we always visit. There is a definite family atmosphere about La Piazzetta which is really nice to see and experience
