If I lived in Claverley this would be my go to pub. Lovely well kept ales, cosy and brimming with character. Bar staff delightful and super friendly clientele. It had that magic perfect local pub feel. We didn't have food. What was being served looked like generous pub fayre. We had a really lovely experience. Thank you.

A little rough around the edges and considering the age and beauty of the building, I feel more could be done to restore or be kind to it. A few more local taps would be nice, other than the Carling/strongbow types. Other than that, the people drinking there seemed friendly and the lady behind the bar did as well, there was also a friendly dog inside. Price is incredibly cheap so that’s good too. Menu looked a little inclusive, but didn’t have time to try anything. Thank you.

We used to lunch at the Crown regularly some 2-3 years ago and the food was always excellent. Having not visited for some time due to Covid etc. we paid another visit last week and the drop in food quality was very noticeable. Frozen mash, dried up chips and raw carrots, which I might add we had waited for over 45 minutes for this. At £8 per meal it is certainly not worth any more, especially as the landlord goes out of his way to state the food is all freshly cooked. In our case it was all freshly warmed up.

Recently visited Claverley and visited the Crown Inn for some lunchtime food. Ordered 2 soups and one Beef Madras and one Steak Pie. Considering we were the 1st people to order food, it took 20 minutes for the soup to arrive and a further 20 minutes for our main course. What spoilt it for me was that we were sat next to the kitchen door and we could continually hear a microwave being used. When the soup arrived, my partners was only luke warm but mine was red hot. As for the main course, my partners Beef Madras she said was ok, but my Steak Pie was rather spoilt by the shortcrust pastry lid which to be honest tasted awful. Don't think I would try the Crown Inn again, sorry!

I had mixed grill with cheese on chips (I have gestational diabetes and have to have fat with carbs) the lady came out and looked at me disgracefully because I’d ordered cheese on my chips! My partners T-Bone steak had to be off from the smell, although we were ‘reassured’ it was ‘fresh’ yesterday! Not a chance... Horrendous!! We maybe bias but we love Mary & Ken. Mary’s food is proper pub grub. Home cooked chips are her pride and joy. Home cooked food from a black country lass. What more do u needed. And the prices will leave u with change. Ken looks after the bar and people swear by his ale. I regularly hear ‘that’s a nice pint’ I wouldn’t know I don’t drink ale, my partner drinks enough San Miguel 😁 If you are in the area nip in and Mary and Ken will always make u feel welcome.

Outstanding welcome and service from the resident landlord couple. Real pub dishes....fine faggots and lovely liver! Strong Black Country influence. Great banter and humour throughout the bar. Do hope the place thrives as there are less and less 'proper' pubs like this. They used to be everywhere, but the current fashion for faceless, sanitised so called gastro pubs has dramatically changed the drinking scene....in my personal opinion for the worse. There are generations of young drinkers out there who have no idea of what traditional boozers were all about. Go along to this place and experience the simple pleasures of life. It was good to see the local vicar in there with his young family. Pretty sure though, he wasn't drinking their unique German top fermented lager that goes by the name of 'Hell'

This is a clean friendly old country pub, we stayed in the village for 3 weeks and ate here every day, Ken & Mary made us feel welcome and had a fixed inexpensive menu with variable daily specials on offer, they have a variety of ales and your can join in the banter with the friendly locals, as we did!...I must say, I was somewhat bemused by an previous negative comment by BoundlessEnergy because we were here at the same time, and the pub is always clean, Ken or Mary always ask if your satisfied with your meal, so why not complain to them at the time?, but anyone that can describe chips as "insipid" should probably be dinning at a Michelin star restaurant …..

Disappointing visit. Very welcoming by Landlord. Limited menu and very cold. The white wine tasted as though it had been watered down, but hopefully it wasn't, but when the respective meals arrived they were all accompanied by insipid looking chips. The medium rare steak didn't meet with approval and all in all the place look as though it could do with a good clean. There are facilities to eat outside and I think that this would be the best place in warm weather. Regret we will not be returning.

We have eaten at The Crown a few times over the summer and tried a variety from the menu. The average price for a stonking good meal here is £7, which is extraordinary value, not including the lunch time specials for a fiver. Would not hesitate to recommend this place for simple, very tasty home cooked food and lots of it. Meals to definitely try are cod and chips, and crispy belly pork. Visited The Crown for lunch yesterday. This is a very old fashioned, down to earth public house serving excellent home cooked food, situated in the High Street of the beautiful village of Claverley. I would imagine the building is at least a couple hundred years old and it looks unaltered, although there is a decent sized car park at the rear. This is not a huge place but nonetheless there are three rooms with tables for eating or drinking, complete with quarry tiled floors and enormous floorboards.

We went to the Red Lion one evening with family in October. Since the group was a bit larger, we were asked to announce our choice of food in advance when making the reservation. The menu with a large selection was available online, so that wasn't a problem for us. Each of the guests had chosen something different and, after a short wait, everyone was served their food at the same time. The service staff were very attentive. The guests, including those from France and Germany, were extremely satisfied and we had a lovely evening at the Red Lion. It's great that a small place like Myddle offers a restaurant like this. We'd love to come back! P.S. The Spiced Lamb Burger with Oregano fries and tzatziki and the Grilled Seabass Fillets with roasted garlic potatoes were great!
