Craig The Landlord serves a cracking pint ,the pub can get quite busy at times & crowded due to its size ,traditional coal & wood burning fire ,has a separate lounge area for serving food ,only ever had food here once & it was Great ,The Compasses Bayston Hill is last pub on A49 out of Shrewsbury ,limited parking out on the front & at the rear ,has a large beer garden where events often take place during the summer months !

Pretty bad atmosphere , everyone stares at you and they don't seem to do food only when it suits , if you're after an uncomfortable silence from the locals followed by some grotty snacks and a weird atmosphere then this is the pub for you , i won't invest in this place again

We came here to celebrate a birthday. We booked this a while ago as last year we were let down by another pub in the area and didn’t want that to happen again. Bev and Craig made us so welcome and had the table set up before we got there. There was crackers on the table and they had even got a ballon for the birthday boy! The food was fabulous we were all served in a perfect time ( enough time to settle and grab a drink). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and there wasn’t a plate that wasn’t empty at the end. The puddings topped off the evening and we’re just the right amount to fill us up. After a lovely meal we moved into the front room and sat nice and cosy by the log fire which had been well stoked. All in all this was one of the best birthday meals we have had and a lovely evening spent with lovely family with even better food. 100/10 for sure!

This was hands down the best steak we have ever had !! You can go to many different steak places and have a “good steak” but this is a place you can go and have a good steak and a steak which you know had been cooked from the heart. Bev and Craig were super accommodating and so friendly. Can’t fault a single thing 1000/10

Popped in for food, parking tricky and poorly signposted. Before we'd even got inside someone was laughing at us and playing pranks trying to misdirect us to a different entrance. Then some barfly told me we needed to "pay a toll" for not being local. Had stopped serving early anyway so we left. Full of local idiots, wouldn't spend a penny in there. 10/10 do not recommend. I feel sorry for the management if that's their customers.

Great pub. The food and drinks are lovely. I have Coeliac disease, Craig and Bev go out of their way to make sure everything is spot on. There is a great atmosphere in the pub and the beer garden is always a good place for drink. Would highly recommend.

This has to be one absolute diamond of a find! It has beautiful food, kind service and a nice atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed the food and it was family friendly too - what more could you wish for! The food was exceptional and they catered for my children - a very good, welcoming pub! Don’t miss it!

We always come here for a pint or two or even three on a weekday or a weekend. But on this occasion we decided to have something to eat. This was hands down the best meal we have had in a pub for a good few years. We had steak which was cooked to perfection, a pork chop which had a stunning sauce with it and fantastic fish and chips. Everything was amazing! We was utterly blown away by everything. 10/10 would recommend! X

Comfortable local with two handpulls, Doom Bar and HPA. Beer in very good nick (3.90 a pint). Menu not sampled.

Only played dominos in there so not much to say but lovely welcoming pub with a wood burner giving it that home feeling. Good pint with real ales also on tap.

What a find! We were driving back to Surrey from North Wales and needed somewhere to stop for dinner whilst rush hour passed us by. We found this place had good reviews and gave it a go. Really friendly service and the food was simple and absolutely delicious. I’m a big fan of onion rings and the ones they served are some of the best I’ve ever tasted!

Friendly local. A warm welcome from the New landlord/landlady, Bev & Craig. Doing great food at a reasonable price. Have had Christmas fayre as a group of 6 which was lovely and have sampled Sunday lunch which again was very good. All home cooked & proper gravy!!

Landlord opened up the restaurant specialy for us to have a meal.Then went to the kitchen to cook our meal which was excellent. very friendly and good beer. Recommended
