The best chippy in Northfield by far with the added bonus the cook Chinese food too what more can you ask for. Always great food here and staff are always friendly and polite.

Best chippy in south Birmingham

So, I have been ordering from here for years, but tonight the food along with the service was shocking. My food took a long time to arrive, almost an hour, which is unusual for Lai Yin, but when it did most of the meals was cold including the chips and the food had to be microwaved. I literally live about 4-5 mins away from the takeaway so having cold food is a little concerning. Anyway back to the food, so we noticed the samosas were very dark and greasy and not crunchy but very soggy along with the spring rolls which were also soggy and cold, same with the chips, this was probably due to sitting around in the bag getting cold, who knows? Also the chow meins were very dark in colour along with the rice and food wasn't as tasty as it usually is. Now for the kicker, so one person in my party had a chicken fried rice that had to be microwaved as it was quite cold, after they plated their food and began to eat it, on the second mouth full they heaved and pulled out a black hair from their mouth, this was wrapped around a piece of chicken, this grossed us all out and all the food got spoilt as it put us off all our meals, so it all ended up in the bin and we ordered from elsewhere.. Lai Yin should be ashamed! We will no longer order from here again I'm afraid as the service and the food quality was abysmal, tonight Lai Yin you let yourselves down!!

Excellent service, the food is pipping hot no problems here.

Had the Ferrero rocher and brownie sundaes and the white chocolate cookie dough. All three desserts were lovely and we’d definitely order again.

Food is great, but a few of the staff can be really abrupt. Delivery is a good option but can take well over an hour at times. The prices have gone up a fair bit too!

Tasty food that ISN’T coated in fat -tasty presented well and arrives hot

Service is always quick and food piping hot . Depending how much you spend you always get freebies. We spent £30 and got prawn crackers spring rolls and a bottle of pop and this time with it been new year a box of celebrations as well. Thank you Great Wall !
