Booked for a surprise 50th birthday on 7th September at 19:30. Got there and it's closed! No email from anyone to say they were cancelling the table. Utter disbelief. Will not book here ever again.
Went for old times sake as used to go to The Cabin as a teenager when I lived in Westbury. The staff were amazing and really kind and friendly. Good selection of vegan food. I had a jacket spud with vegan, butter and cheese. It came with beans and a side salad which was lovely and fresh. Everything was well cooked and well presented. The waitress brought me a separate bowl of vegan coleslaw which the chef had made specially. It was all delicious. Nice coffee too.

Sausage roll tasteless
Cheeseburger rock hard, honestly thought I was eating a brick at first!
Wouldn't even feed to my dog, let alone for human consumption.
Absolutely disgusting 😤
Plus, prices are flaming ridiculous
The Plough at Shalbourne is extremely welcoming, and since Polly and Dan took over at the end of 2024 the food and ambiance has been exceptional.
Dan is a celebrity chef, who’s been a private chef for many legendary rock and roll stars, including The Cure, Katy Perry, Madonna, The Spice Girls, Paul McCartney, The Who, and Seal. He has a very wide repertoire, but his signature Thai food is truly outstanding at very reasonable prices.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening and plan to visit again soon.

Absolutely fantastic pub and I do mean pub! There is a pool table, dart board, quiz nights, games of spoof at the bar, everything that has been lost from most other pubs in the country. The food served is simple pub grub, done well and pretty cheap. The Landlord is very welcoming and if you have any interest in vehicles, local history or wartime you will struggle to leave!
Great place not my first time, been here numerous times and will go back numerous times. Always a warm welcome very friendly staff with no expectations. The resident dog is adorable and so well behaved. The cake is excellent can't wait to go back and neither can my dogs who are equally spoilt during their time at The Yard.
This is a real find. You order your coffee & cake & then go to sit in an area at the back of the Abbey. This means you get to view the amazing architecture whilst enjoying your drink. So much more interesting. I'd highly recommend the coffee & cake too.
I've stopped in the pleasant and tidy upstairs annexe above their microbrewery a couple of times. Will definitely book again. (Also handy for trains to London).
The Crown Inn was bit quiet on a mid-week afternoon, but welcoming.
Initially having a guest ale whilst reading, I nipped out for a light bite to eat and to bring my car up for unpacking.
(Car park in Pewsey by The Bouverie Hall has a footpath short-cut. For train travellers, a similar handy footpath from the nearby railway station).
Back in The Crown for their own brewed beer - enjoying a half of each of the two on the taps.
A quick chat with The Barman / Landlord / Owner, then sat by the window typing up some work on a tablet, without spreading out and assuming it was a WFH space, at the same time enjoying the lack of distraction.
Will try to get back on the days they do food too...
