Dave and Kayleigh are the new owners. I was recently given 2 x £75 vouchers for their previous pub , the Crown at Upton and I booked a meal for my birthday on 23rd Sept 23. They also told me I had to pay a £200 deposit for own of their outdoor dining units, totalling £350. They then closed the pub and moved to the Plough whilst not contacting me and owing the money. Dave is still trading as Bemyfood.ltd. When I contacted them, and challenged them with this, kayleigh informed me that it is now her business. However, she is not listed as a director on companies house so they have scammed me , a customer, out of £350. Watch your cash people!!!!!

The staff were friendly but the meal was really bad: burnt, bland and also cold the veggi gravy had lumps. The meal was not cheap and there was a compulsory fixed service charge of £20 which is unusual. A very disappointing experience.

Fantastic! We went for dinner at The Plough for their Wednesday evening steak night and both my husband and I were very impressed. Delicious food (with generous amounts of peppercorn sauce in a separate jug), which was so colourfully presented with very tasty roasted baby tomatoes and button mushrooms etc - this wasn’t just steak and chips! We shared a sticky toffee pudding afterwards which I would definitely recommend, The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a lovely cosy atmosphere. I look forward to going there again.

Ann-Marie and Peter have recently reopened the pub and what a flying start they’ve got off to. We had Sunday lunch last week and the food was to die for. Being vegetarian wasn’t a problem - I had the same delicious veggies as the family but with veggie wellington instead of the beef they chose. Our plates were very generously filled and every bite was delicious. It’s so good we went back last night for another family meal and again weren’t disappointed. I’d thoroughly recommend eating here and supporting the lovely new couple and their amazing chef Darryl.

I spent a very pleasant evening there whilst staying in Shalbourne. The French chef is quite new to the Plough and is currently trying out new dishes. He very kindly cooked me a fantastic bowl of modules WITHOUT ONION, because of my allergy. The food was excellent, as was the glass of Malbec. After dinner I spent time chatting with the locals and the evening flew by. A great bunch of people who made me feel very welcome. This lovely, pretty village is lucky to have such a lovely friendly local pub.

A friendly and informal pub with a French chef. The moules frites was a very generous portion and perfectly cooked in a tasty wine sauce. The frites were excellent. The sea bass came with pearl barley and was delicious. Puddings of crepe suzette and apple and almond tart rounded off a super meal.

Booked for Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed. Service was excellent, food came out hot, not warm like many places. We both had roast beef for main and the beef was cooked perfectly, the vegetables fresh and full of taste. Atmosphere was relaxed and very welcoming. Two starters two main courses, one desert and a couple of drinks all for less than £60. In my view superb value. We would certainly eat here again. Great little English pub and restaurant.

What an absolute dump?! I honestly have no idea how this pub is still running … pub is so run down and is absolutely freezing! Dog running around barking at you for food and jumping on furniture .. person working behind the bar was filthy and covered in mud? Also said the F word atleast twice in front of our 5 year old godson.. zero starters available and only one choice of main? Food was actually nice but portion size was tiny - also only 3 choices of pudding all of which didn’t sound remotely interesting, we went to Tesco to get our own. Always wanted to try this place but it will be our first and last time visiting.

Apparently a new chef arrived at the end of last year. So far he has produced two menus both of which wre superb. Limited number of dishes but each one of the highest standard. Had lunch today with new menu and cannot praise too much the terrine, pickled sea bass, pork and vegetable curry. The puddings were in a world of their own! Friendly and welcoming. Well thought out and reasonably priced wine list. This landlord knows what makes a good pub and his chef knows what makes a great meal

Alex has breathed new life into this lovely old pub. Hospitable, welcoming and unfussy this pub does exactly what it says on the tin: superb Sunday Roast - Moules to start, beautiful rare roast beef with vegetables etc all cooked to perfection - or Salmon Teriyaki or Sea Bass alternatives which were exactly right - and then sticky toffee pudding. All served with a smile. Any one taking on a pub in this climate is brave: but to do so in a place that has suffered of late, and deliver such a success is heroic!

It has been 30+ years since I last visited The Plough and in the interim having lived abroad for many years it was great to return and rediscover this truly traditional pub. We visited early evening and so it was very quiet, nonetheless relaxing and welcoming. We had a family emergency that arose just after we had ordered dinner and the Landlady (sorry we did not get your name) could not have been more helpful, trying to find telephone numbers for taxis, pausing the food preparation etc. In the end it all worked out OK and so The Plough with great food and beer in a traditional pub setting is definitely a place we will be visiting again. We stayed at Westcourt Farm (see our other review) and although our stay was only one night it was a lovely time in Shalbourne.

Called in after a trip to Swindon. Checked online times they were serving food, which states food is served all day and everyday. How misleading this information is.We arrived at the pub very hungry and looking forward to a lovely meal, wine etc. I asked for a table for four to be told " hope not expecting food as we have finished serving food at 3 and won't be starting again till 6 pm" the time we arrived was 4 o'clock I told the person that they website states they serve food all day and this is very misleading as we had gone out of our way to visit this place. Her reaction was very negative and she really couldn't have cared less. Not good!!!Went on to a very nice pub in Marlbourgh and so glad we did. The staff there were so helpful and polite. The Plough may have good reviews on food but they really should get the times right, it's misleading and it time wasting for others. If you visit this pub and come across this negative reaction, carry on to Malbourgh and visit The Royal Oak. You will also save yourself a few pounds as the Royal Oak is good value for money.

I am from Australia and have found so many places cook lamb poorly, However at The Plough I ordered Roast Lamb and was delighted with what arrived. I am fond of Lamb Shanks and was interested to see that this dish consisted of the lamb shoulder (cut across the shoulder blade) rather than the elbow. The meat was succulent and sweet and was obviously cooked in the same slow manner as one cooks shanks. I have never tasted lamb that was better cooked than this.Although this was the highlight we experienced a very good meal in all dishes.

The Bradley Hare is an elegant enterprise but tends to cater for diners and private parties rather than dog walkers looking for a pint and a sandwich; indeed the lunchtime snack menu is almost non existent. On occasions the bar closes completely to facilitate private functions. In short, the Bradley Hare is perhaps more of a "restaurant with rooms" rather than a traditional hostelry.
