The BEST coffee shop in Salisbury! I found this little gem when my little boy was newborn and I’ve taken him every week since (he’s nearly 4). We are always welcomed and they are great with my little one-unsure why anyone would say they aren’t child friendly. Delicious cake and coffee. If you go on a Saturday they do INCREDIBLE cheese straws (our favourite) I’ve taken friends from outside of Salisbury to visit and they always ask to come back to the Yard. The family behind it are lovely and work super hard to make it as amazing as is it. Kudos to them ❤️ great place 5* highly recommend!

This is about the 5th time I've been here because I like the idea of the place: everything I should love normally as an artist: an independent tucked away cafe/gallery with fresh cakes, eclectic furnishings and good coffee but the service is beyond miserable! The man who makes the coffees is the only saving grace and only one who dares smile. It is a shame he is not allowed to be more interactive with customers. Never never go with a child let alone two! This is fur friendly not child friendly. Their sog is allowed to roam free and get under one's feet but a child God forbid! Every time my impeccably behaved 6 year old has been she has been accused of "poking" the WRAPPED cakes which are very much at child height! To the point I went to put my scarf on a chair to save an outside table and whilst I was gone for less than a minute she'd accused her. She did so last time and I doubted my daughter (remorseful now) and told her off! My daughter wanted to swap one cheap marked up Tunnocks tea cake this time for a much more expensive rocky road, the response was "Well I can't sell that, she's been poking her fingers in it" absolutely no sign of it being "poked". In hindsight I should have said shove your average homemade cakes (the choc banana muffin was actually the only tasty cake I've had here butvwas delicious) and walked out and told her every time we've been in she's not once said hello or met us with anything but inconvenience and today a friend told me she'd never go there again either...without children! Anybody that can tear out sheet music and decoupage a wall with it, least of all Beethoven, and stick it up as loo wallpaper in my book can go to hell! I shan't be going back even though it is convenient and could have been fab.

From the coffee, fresh cakes, decor to the customer service, the level of care, skill and passion that goes into every aspect of the Yard is evident from each visit. Whether looking for a take out coffee or sitting in, it is the standout option in Salisbury (and no doubt would be in most cities and towns). My partner and I have been buying coffee here for a few years now. The family behind the shop have created a wonderfully casual and relaxing environment. Alongside this, the shop is consistently sourcing new coffees, products etc. and are more than happy to answer any questions on making better coffee at home. The ‘experience’ evenings, such as coffee tasting, are are also highly recommended. In football terms, the shop could be described as ‘Total Coffee’. Also, big shout out to Sadie the dog.

Best coffee shop in Salisbury. Great cakes and coffees/teas/hot chocolates. Slightly hidden away, but well worth walking a couple minutes extra for. Great for coffee lovers especially

Amazing coffee and homemade cakes, family run with beautiful interior and courtyard decor. My favourite cafe and I won’t stop going back! I can’t recommend a cake because they vary so frequently, but there are gluten and dairy free options. A truly fantastic independent business and asset to Salisbury!

Our experience was so appalling it's hard to put into words. This is not a child friendly place, the owners behaved aggressively and the cake was dry. Utterly shocking from a local business having recently moved to what otherwise seems a very family friendly area.

An unusual café and shop tucked away behind terraced houses. We went with friends who are regulars who pointed out that the 'shopfront' was sealed and the real access was a narrow passageway around the corner! More quirky delights as the alley opened into a sheltered courtyard and the 2 level café, shop and gallery. Selection of homemade cakes etc and a good range of coffees. Quick friendly service and reasonable prices. At this time of year it was a little cold but unsurprising given the heating bill! No immediate parking but an easy stroll from 3 public car parks or a bus from the centre of Salisbury.

Went here recently for the first time, felt like I was intruding. Barely got a hello from the 3 people working there. Was the only people in the whole place (I can see why) ignored our children, coffee was average, cake wasn’t special. Would not go back.

Day trip to Salisbury and found this gem after researching options on Trip Advisor. It is well worth the short walk away from the main shopping area. Joe was very welcoming and friendly and served up THE best hot chocolate. We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day and enjoyed our drinks in the outside sitting area. An extra bonus being the company of Twinkle, the resident tabby cat. If only we lived closer and could make a regular visit!

We had the Welsh rarebit which was fantastic and the cakes are homemade and wonderful. It’s very quirky, a sofa in front of an open fire and lots of other places to sit.Tit was very quiet which we were all surprised about. Will definitely visit again.

I've lived in Salisbury for 25 years and only found this wonderful cafe through a Taste Trail in connection with the International Arts Festival. It's now my favourite place to go for a cup of tea and cake, or a light lunch. Find it up an alleyway off West Street, accessible from Fisherton Road via Dews Street or North Street - look carefully as you can't see the entrance tip you are on top of it! The Yard offers a warm welcome and the best carrot cake I've ever tasted - the icing is kept separately in the fridge so the cake doesn't go sorry and is not sickly sweet - and a rotation of other delicious cakes including the chocolate amaretto cake to die for. I took the family there and we ordered '1 of everything' and cut them into pieces - yum. The cheesy scrambled eggs is a favourite, too. The cafe is also a gallery with lots of small gifts and items, and it's all very original and quirky and characterful. Antique mismatched china cups and saucers, a lovely yard for sitting out in and a fireplace and squishy sofas for the winter. Look out for the teacup tree and Mr Fox in the loo! Cats are unobtrusively around and and the lovely Sadie the dog is friendly (particularly if you have scrambled egg) but always polite.

We visited Salisbury with friends this weekend and didnt want to have a hotel breakfast so we searched for something different and NOT a chain. My wife came across The Yard Cafe and it sounded just the thing we wanted. Though not the easiest to find and thanks to technology on our phones we arrived in the street and the lovely owner had come out to welcome us and direct us the last few meters. Well, I wanted different and even my imagination couldnt have thought this one up. What genius and artistry. FABULOUS!!! So our eyes were more than satisfied but as a foodie and a specialist on breakfast, could they satisfy my pallet as much as my eyes had been. The answer is a large YES. Fluffy, moist scrambled eggs with Parmesan and Welsh Rarebit as it should be made. Scones, muffins and the charm of the owner and her daughter.Three beautiful pussycats to stroke if you want. Dont worry if you are allergic, they can be far enough away if you dont like them. We all look forward to another visit.

We bought some Salisbury Taste Trail tokens for the Food & Drink Festival and thought we would try The Yard as we hadn't visited it before. What a lovely find! This spacious and quirky cafe is hiddden away up an alley. The decor is an eclectic mix of styles from church pews to cinema seats as well as comfy sofas which the children loved, with indoor and outdoor seating. The tea is served in pretty china cups and the coffee in a very generous cafetière, the children had large hot chocolates with marshmallows and we all enjoyed different homemade cakes. The owner was very friendly as were the resident cats! The cafe also has an interesting mix of gifts for sale. A great atmosphere, we will definitely be visiting again.

This cafe serves home made cakes and light snacks in a beautiful location. Such a shame it's hidden in a back street and an even bigger shame that the council won't allow them to even put signs on the building or pavement to let folks know it's there. You could walk right past it and not notice that it's tucked down a little alleyway, but definitely worth seeking out and sharing with your friends! Today, my friend and I both had the orange and almond cake, served with clotted cream, and still warm from the oven - so lovely, we were tempted to have another slice! The cafe itself is also a quirky little shop, with some lovely gifty stuff, and all very reasonably priced. There's a little art gallery on the first floor. We sat outside in the yard itself, in a lovely little alcove furnished with quirky bits and pieces, including a neon pink plastic candelabra. In the courtyard, there's a little tree decorated with little bone china tea cups. The tea was served in bone china cups, and pot of tea for one came in an enormous pot - great value!

Ok so Lynne and I are back at The New Inn with friends having yet another superb meal. We have now eaten here a few times and I feel I should commend the staff and the chef ( who we found out his name was Ronnie ) very nice touch when he comes out of the kitchen personally to ask if everything is ok. Once again superb service and our friends also commented on how lovely this superb pub/restaurant is. Even when we pop in for a snack Pizza that is just superb. Well done all at The New Inn. we certainly will be back and so will our friends. You guys deserve to do well as you always go the extra mile. Thank you, so refreshing in this day and age . We will be booking for a meal again l this Saturday night with some more friends. all the very best Ian & Lynne

The Bradley Hare is an elegant enterprise but tends to cater for diners and private parties rather than dog walkers looking for a pint and a sandwich; indeed the lunchtime snack menu is almost non existent. On occasions the bar closes completely to facilitate private functions. In short, the Bradley Hare is perhaps more of a "restaurant with rooms" rather than a traditional hostelry.
