A good overall experience. The bartender is not overly chatty, but that works well for me. I would recommend as they have a good choice of ale and snacks. It’s not a city Hub so don’t expect excessively lively and noisy experiences.

Don't bother with this pub if you don't want weirdly passive-aggressive, unsolicited mutterings from the guy behind the bar about what you happen to be wearing. The pub may have a wheelchair accessible entrance, but inclusive it is not - at least not if you wear visible, medically necessary equipment that the barman happens to have a personal hang-up about. Looking at previous reviews on tripadvisor and elsewhere, it seems this guy has something of a track record. Any personal issues or challenges he may or may not have does not excuse harrassment towards visitors in the form of pejorative commentary about their appearance.

After been to Pewsey for so many years we never tried or visited the Crowns even though it is less than 5 located to our house!! Simply, because my mother in law was often cooking and quite honestly speaking after try Crowns roast Chicken there is no comparison!! My MIL’s roast is by far much better and more deliouse!! However, if your MIL is not cooking for you because you have not brought her some sweet from Bahrain, than Crowns is the ideal place to go!! I was so hungry so I ate my full meal as soon as my order was served on the table!!! I then complimented the chef even though my Yorkshire pudding was burnt!!

Just don’t! One of the owners, the younger one is a bully and seems to get a kick out of standing over women and humiliating them. He doesn’t like women. He also said racist things about my driving and was rude to me about a fellow patron in the pub, who happens to be a gay man! He’s just horrible. The parents were okay, but their son is a problem. Especially if you’re a woman travelling on your own! I did not feel safe.

Booked in advance via phone for table of 7 with extended family. Mainly because one of our party was taking the train back to London. Boy, I'm glad we stopped by. A hidden gem. Home cooked food with a good selection of beers, unfortunately we had designated drivers in our party, so not able to taste the beers and ales this time. We tried to buy some bottles to take home, but alas, they were too popular and there was sadly none to be had. Never mind, it gives us an excuse to return. We all really enjoyed our Sunday lunches. Home cooked food, with options for the vegetarians in our party. Puddings were the only dilemma, choosing only one was difficult as they all sounded good. I had home made spotted dick with custard, which was fantastic but equally others in our party had the meringue, ice cream and warm chocolate cake. All really good with generous portions. Service good and a roaring open fire. We hope to return.

The Crown is a family run pub, with a quiet, pleasant atmosphere. Decent food, served piping hot, on hot plates. Chilli was beautiful, absolutely home made, no processed sauces here.. gorgeous! Husband had Ham, egg and chips. Never seen such thick slices of ham! Very reasonable prices. Menu is not huge, but that is very much reflected in the quality. Cannot comment on beer, as stuck to soft drinks (early start tomorrow) , but I hear great things from real ale fans. Music playing in background, loud enough to hear and enjoy, but not so loud you can't hold a conversation. First time I visited was with friends for a drink, took my dog along, who was welcomed with treats and fusses by the owners. He's very keen to pop in again. Thank you for a lovely meal. Will definitely be back again soon..

Great pub tucked away from the main road through Pewsey - but only a couple of minutes walk from the station. Traditional two bar setup with a separate dining area. Real fires and a really nice feel to the pub. Usually a local ale on tap along with the in-house brewed selection - some really nice ales there from a traditional ale to hoppier paler styles. Always have a nice welcome there and it's good to see visitors getting involved in conversations. Normally something going during the week from sea shanties to poetry recitals. Good pub grub menu and Sunday lunch is great value and good quality. Nice outdoor beer garden and on street parking outside or nearby. In summary - great ale, good value and good quality food, nice people and real fires - what's not to like!

When visited the pub was quite quiet but picked up as time went on. A good traditional pub which also brews its own beer. To be honest the pint I had (Gurt) wasn't to my taste but clearly I was in a minority as it was selling well amongst the regulars. Its less than 2 minutes from the railway station so please pop in and try their beer for yourselves.

We stayed in the studio behind the pub during a walk along the Kennet & Avon Canal. The studio was very spacious and nicely tucked away behind the pub, more than suiting our needs. The beer at the pub was very good and the garden there is lovely. For the price, it represents excellent value for money and is near both the canal and the train station. Probably a good job the pub closed at 6 on Sunday as we'd have had many more than 2 pints!

What a great little gem we have found here in a fantastic village with very friendly people. The host Vaughan & Helen made us feel really welcome and was always available if we needed any information. The two night stay we had above the micro brewery was ideal for what we needed. The real ale made by Vaughan tasted great and wished I would of got a few bottles to take home. The food we had in the pub on the day of our arrival was really good. We will definitely be returning here. Thanks again for a fantastic weekend Helen, Vaughan & Largo.

We stayed at the ensuite room above the microbrewery behind the Crown Inn. It's Ideally situated in Pewsey It's easily within walking distance of the village centre and shops etc. We stayed for one night during our 100-mile bicycle ride to Bristol via the Kennet & Avon Canal the next day as it is not far from the canal. It was bike-friendly and we could store them securely in the brewery room under the accommodation. The room was spotless and still had tea & coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable. Sadly, due to arriving late, as we were delayed on our bike ride, we did not get the chance to try the highly recommended food. We had a very warm welcome from Vaughan and Helen and the lovely dog, Laurel. They were friendly and polite and immediately put us at ease after a very long day. We also tried some of the brewed ale from the microbrewery...lovely it was too. I'd highly recommend this accommodation and hopefully, at some point in the future, we may be back to sample the highly recommended food.

If you are prepared for a non too extensive menu, friendly clientele and excellent ale you should enjoy this. If coming by train take the little footpath at right angles to the railway tracks and turn left after 100 yards or so, not the road downhill - it's much shorter. I can't say anything about the puddings as the main course portions ( two meals) filled me up. Never had home made mushy peas out before.

A group of us visited this pub for lunch , after a walk. We had pre ordered our meals before our walk, which lasted 2 hours. .To say the food was slow arriving, is an understatement. I waited an hour for a jacket potato, with bacon, Brie and cranberry, what finally arrived was a potato with two rashers of bacon on top with a slice of BLUE STILTON plonked on top of them , When I told the [ surly ] waitress that I had ordered bacon and brie, she argued that I had ordered stilton, rather than make any more of a scene, I ate it [ dont try this at home, its not nice!]. The other 4 people on our table waited an hour and a half for a toasted sandwich and fish and chips. The pub was not at all busy.so no reason to be waiting so long. When we finally got to see the manager, we had 3 different excuses why the food was so late.[ one of which was totally ridiculous..] We were offered a bottle of wine...it was afternoon and we hadnt eaten for hours, so certainly didnt want wine, just some food..The Manager did apologise, however this was after an hour and a half, before that no one had come to apologise , or give an explanation for, the wait. This was just our table, other people in our group also had to wait overly long for their food to arrive., The only recommendation I can honestly give about eating at this pub is DO NT.

The meal was lovely and it came quickly for us. The staff were friendly and drinks good too. Other people came in at 1pm and so it was a bit more noisier then but it was a lovely lunch, considering it was pouring with rain outside. Would definitely go again. I don't go in often, maybe once a month. Really nice small and mostly friendly local pub, a great selection of beers. Sunday lunch absolutely fills the gap. However the barman, I don't know his name, is probably the rudest and most unpleasant person I've ever met. Taciturn, uncommunicative and rude. I went in with my family to have a midweek lunch, asked him about other places that served food (they weren't serving food when I popped in), he told me to go to the local Indian restaurant, which on a Thursday lunchtime was really not useful. I asked him about any other local pubs that served food midweek, he refused to suggest anything. After that he would only give me single syllable replies to my questions as to where I could get some lunch locally. Not useful, not great. Great pub, poor staff.

I just moved to Pewsey, and this historic local pub is warm, welcoming and highly recommended for Sunday Lunch, with a wide choice of starters, mains and deserts. For persons on a budget, one course is an unbelievable £7.95 for a high-quality, high value main at Sunday lunch. You can't beat that for excellent value, if you can stop at one course! Additional courses a fiver each. My king prawns were terrific, a generous portion on fresh, crunchy lettuce in The Crown's recipe sauce. I searched them all out! Helen, waitress and owner, was knowledgeable about the mains in that this week it was belly pork as opposed to shoulder of pork, so I opted for chicken. Portions again generous, with a breast of chicken, great roast potatoes, other roast veg, nice yorkshire with lovely stuffing. A selection of four fresh (not frozen) veg served separately were so nice, great gravy and cranberry sauce. What more could a girl ask? I had good coffeetiere coffee to finish, and total was about £16. Free wifi is excellent. The pub has a wonderful sunny garden which I intend to re-visit when the weather is better - Pewsey had snow last weekend 1703! Service attentive without being at all intrusive. I am a lone female and felt completely at home, as would families or anyone. The pub dog, Laurel, comes out after service, is 'perfect', and not as in the troll review I read about her. Gentle Laurel is 8, happy to be rubbed and patted, happy to settle on her own, would be good with kids too. When I came back from checking out the beautiful winter garden, Vaughan and Iago were decanting apple wine made from the apple tree in the summer garden into a glass holder! You can't get much more local pub than that! My Sunday Lunch was excellent and of such calibre that I will also try their Friday night food for £7.50 a meal (not to mention apple wine), which I would not have done. I get a sense here that the owners know the local clientele isn't huge. Pewsey-demand is there for Sunday Lunch and Friday nights only and the pub should not be criticised in reviews for not having food 24/7. I am fed up with chips with everything approach to food elsewhere in Pewsey. Sunday Lunch and any meal The Crown cooks is frankly too good to miss - I'll be back very shortly guys.

Being an ale enthusiast, I visit this pub from time to time even though it's quite a way from where I live. The beer is always excellent, whether their own brew or one of the guest beers (usually from other local breweries). I've never eaten there - they only serve food on a couple of days per week. The downside is that when I visit (generally in the afternoon) there usually seems to be the same barman, who's been there for years - I believe he's the landlord/brewer's son. You'll be lucky to get more than 2 words out of him - I've long given up trying to strike up a conversation with him, even when the pub is empty (which it usually is when he's on - I wonder why?). Clearly he's in quite the wrong job. Actually it can be amusing watching people try to interact with him, and anyway it's a proper traditional pub - not many of those left - so I'll continue to visit it when in the area.

Chemical free (cheers), lovely and tasty (more cheers) and a lovely colour. It is the home of the 'World's End Ales' brewery and I can say without any doubt that if you are within say 5 miles of SN9 5EL turn off the main road, pop up the hill and spend a happy few hours in a most delightul and authentic atmosphere.I do sound a bit over the top, unlike my usual measured style, but in this case it is worth it.
