My husband and I stayed for two nights at the New Inn as friends are moving into the area. The pub was very pleasant with an open fire and separate eating area that was warm and inviting, as was the landlady Andrea who really couldn't do enough for us and said, on more than one occasion, that nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation was superb. A large comfortable bed. A warm, quiet room and drinking water and biscuits were available along with the usual tea and coffee in our room. The breakfasts were delicious. Plate wasn't overloaded but every ingredient was well sourced and cooked to perfection. Cereals, juices, tea and proper coffee available too, along with a loaf of toast. Ha! Ha! We stayed for an evening meal on the Friday night with our friends. The food was VERY good and much of it was home cooked where possible. Home made pie and the home made chips were cooked to perfection. So Andrea thank you so much for your warm welcome and hospitality and we look forward to seeing you again whenever we visit. Best regards A&P

A very welcoming pub!! Very busy even on a cold wet night in February as soon as we walked through the door it felt like a good locals pub and they welcomed dogs !!! We went in not booked and it was valentines!!! But we did manage to have a table super food - we rebooked again for later in the week - the food was outstanding - in fact it seemed like a high end restaurant inside a friendly local pub staff very friendly but were so very busy. I would recommend this place to anyone in charmouth -you will not be disappointed.

We decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch at The Anchor and what a treat it was. Huge plates of roast beef with perfectly cooked roast potatoes and delicious veg-just the right amount of bite. The beef was tender and very tasty. My husband had the ribs as a starter which were meaty and marinated in a lovely oriental sauce. No room for pudding sadly. A lovely Sunday afternoon

We booked through Travelzoo and our stay was good value in that respect. The hotel is nicely situated in attractive gardens with views of the sea. Sadly we couldn’t make the most of these as the weather let us down. Service was generally ok and breakfasts were good. What let the hotel down was the amount of wear and tear evident, dated decor and furnishings which had seen better days. Our room had no chairs and the small space could have been much better utilised - who needs a large fitted wardrobe for a short stay? The shower room had a cracked toilet seat and copious black mould and ingrained grime around the shower which is a poor reflection on the standard of maintenance. Time for a thorough refurbishment?

Just back from a lovely dinner at The Parlour, booked on the strength of the good reviews here & did not disappoint! Very good authentic pizzas, good wine and a dessert to die for ( Panna Cotta with Campari stewed plums & pistachios, OMFG yes), great service and a really great vibe about the whole place. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing & was freshly made to order. If we lived down here we’d eat there all the time!

We had a really nice experience having lunch here... the location is fantastic and the food was great. Although some of the items on menus are high end dining, there are smaller options and snacks available and the staff make it very clear that everyone is welcome, whatever they are ordering. We stopped in for lunch during a walk on the South coast path and were very well looked after by the friendly front of house staff. We ordered a few things off the Nibbles menu which really hit the spot and can particularly recommend the Samphire bharjis! Eating outside in the relaxed garden setting with sea views, rounded the experience off perfectly!

Lovely local pub. Beers are great. Staff are friendly. Ample seating. Really nice vibe & the Palmers selection of ales/pales & Dorset Lager was great. A little on pricey side but worth it. Didn’t get the chance to eat unfortunately. All tables were booked out. We’ll revisit when back in the area

Outwardly nice location, car park very small and space taken up by an indian take away van!? Spacious, characterful main bar area inside. Staff rather frosty. Waited ages for meals to arrive. Pleased to say we all enjoyed our meals when they did arrive. Nice triple cooked chips. I enjoyed my Thai red curry.

We were attracted by the terrace with lovely views overlooking the sea on a sunny evening. The restaurant wasn’t yet open but we were able to order drinks and light meals, which were pretty good. We did feel that service was a little inconsistent between staff members. Drinks were quite pricey but a shame we weren’t there in time for happy hour between 5-6!

Lovely location which we visited at a very busy time, hence the slightly lower scores. I had hake and chips which I enjoyed but was a little over priced imo. My wife had crab sandwiches which were lovely until she found a price of shell which put her off. Service could have been a little swifter, and we waited for at least 40 minutes for the food after we had ordered. We will definitely return, maybe at a slightly less busy time.

Well, we didn’t expect this! Just such a generous welcome from Andrea and attractively furnished rooms were just what we needed for a night’s rest on our epic Coastal Path walk. Thoughtful touches such as cool soft drinks in the room and a box of delicious biscuits, and quality shampoo and shower gels. Great choice of delicious food in the pub restaurant and much needed lager. The vegan chick pea and vegetable curry had the wow factor and was a well thought out excellently balanced meal. Breakfast too was excellent. Don’t know how you get the energy to work so hard Andrea, but you do it wonderfully and are the best host ever.
